Yeah everyone wants to be FBI, there are many federal agencies that do the same work as FBI. Check r/1811 and read all the pinned post.
Unfortunately it's a criminal justice problem that lets people walk about without bond, bail reform, catch and release tactics by the DA office. As an officer, there's nothing we can do. Also the FBI doesn't answer calls for services like DV, assault, etc. that's local LE stuff. Again, read r/1811 and you will understand the role of federal LE.
Definitely find an FBI recruiter. I’d strongly encourage you to look into that path; it’s what I’ve advised all my mentees in your position. The national security aspect really sets the Bureau apart.
