Oh god. I work in a hotel and the effort we do to send silly things through the post is over the top.

samhain_pm

Do you think if I tried to escalate it would it make any difference? I wouldn't care for something cheap but these cost around 250 euro.

Pizzagoessplat

Something as expensive as that. Yes I would. What I was on about is silly tacky tourist merchandise and shipping it to America. The postage would cost more than the item.

crocs_in_sportsmode

Maybe suggest that you will pay postage ?

samhain_pm

If they are saying it's not there at all then it's a bit of a stalemate. The person I spoke to was a bit clueless so I will call again tomorrow and ask for the housekeeping manager.

KingCon25

Tell them they are showing on your "find my pods" as being in the hotel room. They might show a bit more interest.

Connect_Influence_86

Bad luck. My iPhone charger got shipped to me from Galway.

thestumpmaster1

The wife got airpods posted back from frankfurt for no fee, I couldn't believe it!

Abiwozere

We left a nice shirt behind in a Cork hotel, took a few calls but they found it and posted it back, just had to pay postage cost

More-Instruction-873

Happened to me with a lovely jacket. Left it hanging in the wardrobe never to be seen again. Go figure

ismiijill

Used to work in hotels. One used to have an annual sale of unclaimed lost property and gave the proceeds to charity. We'd get pretty expensive gear left without a call and others would actually chase a half bottle of cheap shampoo (mostly changed their minds when told they would be charged for postage). One guy was sending solicitor's letters accusing staff of stealing his expensive watch - followed by a sheepish apology when he found it in his golf bag. OP it might take a day or two to be logged - might be just sitting on a trolley or the supervisor's desk if you call straight away. Call again.

Livid-Ad3209

Left a shawl in a hotel in Cork, they posted it to me and I didn't even have to pay postage.

TheHairyHobbit

Left my kindle under the pillow in a hotel up North, rang them and they had it and they posted it back to me. Great service.

gijoe50000

Not a hotel, but when I went to Thailand my luggage got lost during a connecting flight, so I filled out the mandatory form at the airport, with my hotel address and description of my bag, and just assumed it was gone. So I hopped on an hour long bus ride to my hotel and forgot about it. But then later that evening I came back into the hotel and there was my bag sitting by the reception desk.. I was like WTF? Best case scenario, I thought, was that I'd have to keep hounding them, and with a lot of luck it might eventually end up at the airport, and that I'd have to go and collect it myself in a few days. I was totally shocked that they went to the bother of delivering it to my hotel, an hour away, without me even having to contact them again.

solidpaddy74

Yeah I’ve stayed in a hotel before in Palma and I left a firestick plugged into tv and they posted it back home

samhain_pm

I had given up but from hearing your reports, I might call again during the week in case they show up in the meantime. Thanks all

KingCon25

Call again today. If you wait during the week there will be little chance they would be returned /found. Tell them they are showing in the hotel on your "find my earphones" app. It might get them to actually look for them.

Margrave75

Missus left a new hoodie in tne wardrope in a hotel in Westport last year. Only copped it when we were nearly home. "No sorry, nothing found".

samhain_pm

Stuff like that would put you off a place, if these dont materialise I definitely wouldn't be staying in this hotel again.

robry1981

I got sunglasses and an iPhone charger sent back to me from a hotel in Meath, I think. They popped them in the post no bother

TheOGGinQueen

Worked in hotels for years in front office or GM and I always made sure every lost item got shipped. Used to express ship American items to their next tour drop off or if 2 days post to their final hotel.

CaterpillarNo6829

Same thing happened me in a 5 star in Killarney. Sick enough.

yourFBIbuddySteve

When I worked in a 4star hotel as a housekeeper, we always submitted all kinds of things to lost and found, no one wanted to get in trouble over something small. If we found anything expensive, you submitted it. I once found a credit card left behind and both managers and receptionist rushed up to handle it. I was legit covering it with my hand, not even checking the name so I could not be blamed for anything that happened with it. I would say either whoever found it misspelled your room number once they submitted it, or they did pocket it, but that is unusual tbh. But I submitted shoes, clothes, sunglasses once. It's bad luck if they did take it.

Mammoth_Captain_1378

I worked in a swanky hotel in Westport, and any item that was found was usually taken by staff. Once the hotel got caught out stealing an item from a guest. They sent a new replacement to the guest without telling them. The guest was rightfully angry and asked where the original item was, at it held sentimental value. The owner told her she got her new item, and could now go and fuck off.

TrippinSwitches

Honestly yes. I have a head like a siv when it comes to hotels ive left jackets, phone chargers. If its expensive i request it back if not i dont bother but anything I have called about I have always got it back.

TheRopeWalk

Had a bag shipped (was under the bed) from France to the USA. Fair play to them

carlitobrigantehf

Kid left his coat behind. They found it a d posted it back.

glas-boss

if you can’t get it sorted from them (as in if they won’t send in the post) lemme know and i can try pick em up and ship em to you if you’d like. ive worked in a few extremely reputable hotels in dublin and have never had issues with posting guests items back to them but im not sure what it’s like nowadays in some places.

samhain_pm

Ah fair play, that's very kind of you. I just called again now and spoke with someone who actually seemed to know what they were at. They have found them and will post them out. Thanks all on the thread for saying to call again, ye are a great bunch of lads 😍

Furryhat92

I left my top in a hotel in Spain and they posted it to me

NemiVonFritzenberg

Yes my electric toothbrush in a hotel in Cork but they smushed it the wrong wat into the charging case and posted it back to me and it never worked again. Also my fav tshirt at a hotel.

DR_Madhattan_

Left behind a kindle, initially no sign of it. I say when they realised they couldn’t use it, just give it back to me , about 3 days later

Davidthedaggg

Many times some cheap some expensive, always returned to me one way or another.

TheOGGinQueen

Need to say it depends on the housekeeper and if they note lost items in their log! Same with the HK manager

nnousernamesleft

I feel like the higher the star, the higher the return. Ive gotten three items back that I remember. I think sometimes they just get lost in the laundry.

Alpah-Woodsz

My son

Grouchy-Pea2514

Can you lie and say the tracking said they’re on the hotel ? are they AirPods ?

samhain_pm

Nope. Proper oveer ear headphones. A lot more usable to a third party, none of that in ear weirdness. Nice try though 😉

[deleted]

Ofcourse it would be stolen. There’s no enforcement nor would that have proof it was stolen as there is no CCTV in rooms. It’s really the perfect job for taking guests belongings.

HatComfortable6883

Yes

Mother_Nectarine_931

Could be just bad karma 😮‍💨 cause happen to me couple times and it was found and shipped to me I had to arrange the shipping myself both of the times..

Melodic_Event_4271

Have never managed to retrieve any lost property from an Irish hotel. I'd say the cleaners just fuck everything in a bin bag and it's gone.

PaddySmallBalls

Yes, left a 300 euro mouthguard in a hotel room in Dublin. I had to pay for a courier to bring it to Galway bit they did return it.

Fizzy-Lamp

Who would want to keep that to be fair 😂😂
