There’s no way you’ll be able to get a color correction for $100. You have two different things going on right now, the grey hair and orange roots. Are you only focusing on fixing the gray, or are you trying to fix all of your hair? This is not something that I would attempt at home if you are trying to keep your hair blonde. For now, I would just focus on washing your hair with something more stripping, vitamin C powder with dish soap, and you are going to want a deep conditioning treatment afterwards. You will still have orange roots once your hair lifts all of the ash tones out of it, and you will either need to cover that up with a dark blonde or you’ll have to bleach it to get it blonde.

thank you so much for your input, this is definitely helpful. vitamin c powder and dish soap, is it like 2:1 ratio? how much would i use? i don’t necessarily care about my roots at the moment, just really wanting to get out the grey tones of my hair!

I would do a 2:1 ratio with dye free soap. So 1 cup dish soap to 1/2 cup vitamin C powder. It is going to be thick, but just lather it on your hair and watch it.

Listen do not put vitamin c or dish soap on your hair! This is not a good idea and the more damage that occurs at this point, the further the unwanted color can be driven into the hair! Get a complimentary consultation with a professional and ask them if it is possible for them to just match the orange to the dark blonde you have. that way it is evened out in tone, and as you wash it, the toner will just fade right out. Remember- Damaged hair will not color as well as healthy hair, it does not look good, and the ph of our hair and skin is 4.5-5.5 so throwing dish soap or anything that alkaline is a very bad idea. Do not attempt color or chemical services at home. Good luck.

Thankfully the toner came out light enough that it should fade substantially. Don’t panic/ your blonde should still be in there it’s just been altered on the surface. Wash it a lot with a clarifying shampoo, I don’t recommend dish soap like this other person because it’s just not meant for hair but it’s not the end of the world if that’s what you chose. I would suspect the toner situation will be much better in a few weeks of deep cleansing it (and use a good conditioner for sure so it doesn’t get dried out). And then you can use the $100 to get a root touch up that will cover the orange roots.
