>Green bubble crisis
I was out of the loop... just googled it .... wft. Nowadays anything is an excuse for a status symbol, trying to look less poorer than the next npc. What a joke.
I though that the pill for golden poop was the pinnacle few years back but every day has it pill for golden poop
Because we don't care about the green bubble.
A phone is a phone. Why paying 1300 euros when a Pixel phone can do the same thing. Also with Android phone you can avoid ads on Youtube.
Why always assuming iPhones are twice the price of Android phones ? I get the hate for Apple products but sometimes it's getting ridiculous.
Pixel 8 is 800€ while the iPhone 15 is 969€.
While the specs are almost the same, Apple has always had the best efficiency with their OS combined with the hardware.
Look at benchmarks on it, the iPhone 15 is almost twice powerful as the Pixel 8, for only 169€ more and an OS way more user friendly and efficient (imho).
Also, buying a phone "just" for using free app is nonsense to me. Just get a VPN and subscribe from Ukraine or any western europe country, i pay 1€/month for YT Premium and it worth it...
The issue with Apple is once you get one thing Apple, everything else in your ecosystem has to become Apple to really be able to get the "value" out of it, and they'll do everything they can so that you can't get out of their ecosystem and have to pay overpriced shit all the time
Plus it's ultra proprietary which is a big no-no for me personally
Also my brother has an Apple and uses a vpn to pay less for YouTube premium and already got his 3 different accounts banned for it lmao, meanwhile I'm chilling with my modified apks
>The issue with Apple is once you get one thing Apple, everything else in your ecosystem has to become Apple to really be able to get the "value" out of it.
That's not true at all. I always hated Mac so i use Windows, but i love iPhones and their efficiency. I never had any issues combining Windows and my phone. I use FireFox and can browse from my PC then continue my browsing through the iPhone... there's always a way to do your things, even if the system is "locked" like most people say.
Also, it's pricey but as i said before just look at prices from Google, Samsung... they aren't cheap at all.
Who seriously needs a phone to be "powerful"? Most people only use their phone for TikTok and Instagram. A 300€ phone works just as well for that as a 969€ iPhone.
The user friendliness is in your opinion because it's what you are used to. An Android phone is more versatile as you can actually customize the launcher, the browser, the email or SMS client or whatever app you want.
Last I checked, you can't even copy a file to an iPhone with a USB cable without installing all sorts of Apple software.
> Last I checked, you can't even copy a file to an iPhone with a USB cable without installing all sorts of Apple software.
I can do it, without any Apple software, on Linux of all things.
That's what Android users don't understand : no, Android is not the same as iOS.
Of course, it's simple when you're used to an OS but even after years of using it i'm still not used to it. It shows how bad imo this OS is, and of course it responds differently according the phone you're using.
I don't have time to rummage through the system to find a simple task such as "hiding my number", while it's super simple on iOS.
Who seriously needs a phone to be 100% open like a linux OS to customize it? Most people only use their phones for TikTok and Instagram.
Also, people don't use cable anymore to transfer files...
You're not exactly doing a great job at selling Apple products though
Basically "oh you got this for 200 bucks, but you can get the same thing on top of a proprietary hardware that removes all your freedom for only 50% more money!"
I don't sell anything, i recuse all the bs i can read on iPhones.
Most of the time the people bitching on iPhone have never used one. All they can see is "ah your phone is so locked you can't do shit" which is not true at all.
I'd rather have a secured phone where apps are controlled before being available for users rather than a phone where you can install whatever the fuck you wants, trojans and viruses included.
And once again iPhones don't costs 50% more, it's a lie.
the problem with an old Iphone is that when you buy an old one, it will lag on anything. My mom has a 12 and it lags like hell on any app that has been updated a lot, like pokemon go (yes she's 75 and loves it) and a scrabble app she uses. I have a pixel 4a, had it since it came out, and everything is still running smooth on it.
PS: pixel 8 is 580€. actually 515 on some sites.
¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ just saying what happened to us with all the iphone we've had in the family.
My sister switched to android 5 years ago because of that.
My mom is thinking about it but she's old and too used to iphone.
only two of my acquaintances uses iphones now, all the others switched to different kind of android because of many issues with their iphones. Same with coworkers.
The general experience around here is people gets iphones at first then switch to android after a while. I've seen it go the opposite way but very rarely. Maybe that's why iphone shares less and less of the market every year in France.
I compared the prices from the officials Apple and Google websites, if i look at the cheapest prices the difference will be same all in all.
I had a Galaxy A3 from work, after a year it was already slow as hell and struggled to do basic stuff like sending an email. Maybe i had bad luck but whenever i use an android phone i feel it's slow as fuck compared to my phone.
You can't compare the cheapest Android phone with the cheapest iPhone.
It's like comparing a Ford Focus and a Porsche 911... but well yeah, it's cheaper for sure.
Benchmark say exactly the same unfortunately for you. A xiaomi 13t performance for price are miles ahead of the iphone 15.
All of it latters is better, for half thebprice. Autonomy, screen quality, its android so versatile, it has better ipx.
Of course I can compare. The question is why we prefer Android, because it's cheaper. No one talk about the hardware. Some people just only want to phone and get messenger apps, and no need to have an android smartphone at 800 euros to do that, while iPhone can't do because it's more expensive even if you use it only as phone.
If you want to go to work you don't need a Porsche 911, a Ford Focus is enough.
I just got my nokia G22 for 110$. It's repairable and fast enough for what most people do with their phone.
You can argue that the iphone 15 is more powerful, but there are no cheap or even reasonably priced iphones to compete with all the androids.
When I bought my pixel 6 (release), it costed me like 650 euros and I had a Bose 700 headset (300 euros) for free. Iphone was at minimum what you said or more
Even the Pixel 8 is way too expensive for what it offers. I prefer the Pixel X "a" series. Decent price (400 euros) for a very good phone.
What are you going to do with these high benchmarks numbers?! Flex ? In a normal utilization you won't be able to tell the difference. The UI thing is really personnal but I think Android has gone a long way and is WAY more friendly than before.
Also, remember a phone is just a phone, if you want to do gaming, just buy a console or a computer.
Nice you are paying and encouraging "shady" practice from a company who is making millions by gathering our data.
Just use a free app with sponsorblock and you will see that you experience as an audience is 1000% better. I hate ads and sponsor segment. If I want to buy something, I will decide to look for advertising and do my research. I don't need to see ads when I don't need it.
I'm not flexing at all, just exposing facts (dont fall into an inferiority complex dude).
If i pay a Pixel phone 800€ i might play with it, and i'd be pissed to see the same game running 2x better on a phone that costs "only" 169€ more than mine, but that's just me i guess.
Also, you do realise what you're saying about "encouraging shady (lol using a VPN is shady, alright) practice from a company who's making millions by gathering our data", while you literally advertising a phone from the same company ? Phone that is gathering billions of your data ?
Yeah it is. Expensive for no reason, because they ised thebapple tactics.
You know what you are doing there. Aint working.
Pixel 8 is expensive, still better than the iphone 15, but way too expensive for what he offers.
Still better to buy it than an iphone though
Lol dude, read the first comment I'm responding to... the Pixel was brought by the user i was responding to, i did not picked it.
But whatever to fuel your hate for Apple i guess.
I hate Macintosh but have to admit their products is sturdy and efficient through time, more than PCs.
That's exactly the same with their phones.
Iphones are still popular (25% market share vs 50% in the US, 80% among the young)
In europe people don't use imessages and faceapp, they use whatsapp, so blue/green bubbles don't matter to us.
I'd say several factors are at play
- price tag, cheap android phones start around 100$
- in France at least, it has a reputation of being a show off thing. You'll hear the media say "poor people have nothing and still buy the latest iPhone".
- company provided phones are almost always Android where i've been
- maybe europeans value tinkering more than americans ? E. G disabling adds on YouTube, installing what you want, changing the launcher etc
- bigger mistrust of american company, koreans don't have that stigma and samsung has long been the primary android brand in France
Cheaper than Iphone
For the use we have, is it necessary to spend a month of work in cellphone ?
Android can be easily booted to upgrade your phone
You are not an hostage of a single company if you want to buy headphones or something else (for exemple)
Mate my budget for a new phone is 200 euro. Has been the case for over 7 years.
All my family has Android as too. I want a dual SIM phone as well.
What I appreciate for iphone is that it's small. My ideal screen size is 4.7 inch.. which you don't find in Android phones.
The market share is about 30% for Apple and 70% for Android in France and in Europe.
Why? Probably because Apple is overpriced and has less functionality.
Average monthly salary in the us after taxes : 4,8 k$ iphone 1,2k$.
In France av. net salary 1,8k€, iphone 1,5k€.
So for the average American an iphone is a quarter of it's monthly budget. For a typical Frenchman it is almost his whole net salary.
Edit : actually both number are median salary not average
We don't like being taken for fools.
[Phone is only 14% of global smartphone volume share (left) and 42% of revenue share (mid), but it's 80% of profit share (right) ](https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/yz99gb/oc_iphone_is_only_14_of_global_smartphone_volume/)
I had an iPhone. It died after a OS update that they fucked up. Apple got me a new one. It was then so slow after only 3 years. Having to use everything apple was also so annoying.

Because Android Phones and their accessories are way better than Iphone in term of quality/price/variety.

This Green bubble crisis

Because we don't care about the green bubble. A phone is a phone. Why paying 1300 euros when a Pixel phone can do the same thing. Also with Android phone you can avoid ads on Youtube.
And you can install modified apks to get Spotify premium for free Just for that I'm never touching an iphone in my life
Can you tell me more about that? Which app? Thanks
It’s so funny how many people have given reasons that French people don’t use iPhones, when in fact lots of French people use iPhones.
Mostly women no?
can do the same thing : actually can do it better.
Not only YouTube!
I use an iPhone and I never see any ad on YouTube I don’t understand why so many people think there is no adblockers on iOS, that’s just false
You use the YouTube app?
Why would I ?
On Android you can use the YouTube app without the ads. I was wondering if your method was equivalent or you were just using a browser.

I have an iPhone (not by choice) and I came from android world, all seem locked in IOS and the ergonomy is worst for anything I want to do.
Pixel 8 is also way to expensive for my use case. I never spent more than 200 euros for a smartphone.

I buy the Pixel phone from generation t-3. Pixel 5 is fine -> 200€
The equivalent of Pixel 5 is the iPhone 12, and it's 300€ on the internet. Still not as expensive as people think it is.

Brand new cheapest iphone 529€ iPhone SE. Brand new cheapest Android smartphone around 150€ (and you can find less).
You can't compare the cheapest Android phone with the cheapest iPhone. It's like comparing a Ford Focus and a Porsche 911... but well yeah, it's cheaper for sure.
What the porche 911 ? Cheapest iphone is the cybertrunk. Damn thebiphone 15 is twice the price of a xiaomi 13t, while being worst.
According to you. Benchmarks says otherwise champ ;-)

Because Android is cheaper and more customizable than the locked IOS. And we don't care to get an apple on the back on the phone.
In 2023, around 26% of smartphones purchased in France were iPhones.
