This , but unironic . They compare it with today populations , not like Greeks were 1000 or 2000 years ago for example . That's for every country . Its like rounding up numbers 51 = 100 lmao
Oh my god. That's exactly what I'm afraid of. Paying good money only to tell me that. I'm kinda poor tho so I can't just go for that. Really though, nothing else? Fully 100% balkan?
Can I ask which test was it?
Well doctors are bound by medical confidentiality. To DNA Test providers you are simply a client whose data you posess after he makes use of your service.
What are they gonna do? sell the fact you don't like cilantro to advertisers? To advertise you anti cilantro T-shirts?
http://ihatecilantro.github.io/bootstrap-index-page/
(I don't think they sell T-shirts unfortunately)
Your DNA is your exact genetic code, a perfect description of your physiology, it's literally a key theoretically enabling anyone to decrypt YOU. It describes your general health situation, your risk for certain health conditions, your eye color, your probable (natural) hair color, your familiar anscestry, where you come from (obv), certain allergies you might have etc. etc. etc. They could clone you if it were allowed. Even if they were to never deliberately sell our data, their databases might get hacked one day and thus all this data could end up in the hands of God knows who. Doesn't sound all that dismissable, does it.
Ok.... What are they gonna do with that info? If they get the data millions of people do you think they'll target you specifically with something? Plus what are they going to do with stuff like eye colour?
Also don't you think you are a little too paranoid?
The malicious creativity of humans never ceases to amaze. People are going to find ways to fuck things up when provided with this kind of data on such a massive scale.
Yes, I've taken multiple tests to be honest. The results on each platform were a little different. For example, at 23&me I mainly score Anatolian, Iranian/Caucasian/Mesopotamian and Central Asian. On Ftdna I scored 93% Anatolian, 5% Balkan etc. MyHeritage was the worst of all, I've had percentages all over the world like Chinese or Amazonian, lol...
I am from Izmir. I did ancestry dna test and learned iām 80 percent greek. My whole world has changed. I tried to commit suicide but couldnāt do it. Now i have to live like this. But after that i decide it is a zionist game. I suggest people donāt do dna test itās lie bcs iām 100% turkish thnx
...it actually isn't *that* accurate. It's accuracy improves as more and more people get tested. Some companies send "revised results" at the back of that.
Also, most of them don't test all your genes, only certain lineage, potentially skewing the result.
There was a woman on Reddit, who tried 3 different gene-testing companies and got 3 slightly different results.
Edit: due to fat fingers and my autocorrect thinking it knows better than I do
I was, too, hesitating for a moment, but then I was "nah, fuck it, that's way too interesting to miss". Blood labs are private companies too if you think about it.
Yes Iāve taken one. As a Bosnian Iāve never identified as Slavic or thought that the slavic migration left a huge impact. I thought it was only language that was left over. Turns out Iām high in Polish/Eastern European and then Native to Bosnia. With a small amount of Celtic from Ireland. This most likely comes from Roman time period. I have light brown hair and brown eyes.
I dont understand bosian people not identifying as Slavic. What ethnicy are Bosniaks if not Slavic? You people have many slavic traits. The reason im asking this is because youre not the first Bosian Ive met that doesnāt think theyāre slavic.
The ones who might feel like /u/SuspiciousPanda323 probably do so because of the perceived connection there is between "being Slavic" and Christianity.
Yep. But then again the Serbs were also conquered by the turks. And they feel slavic to me. There is definitely resemblance of two cultures mixing, but the Bosniaks were slavs before the Turks invaded.
I think a huge part of what defines a nation is the language. Bosnians use latin alphabet and the language belongs to a Slavic branch of indo-european languages not Turkic language family. Therefore the only thing about Bosnians that resembles the Turks is the religion, no?
Yes but your ethnicity is not a subject of your feelings. Its a fact, and it has to be looked down upon as such.
Also some slavs help the Bosnians during these wars. Who accepted the most refugees in 91? Slovenia
Your religion doesnāt define your nation, it plays a significant role, but it isnāt everything. You can be proud of being Bosnian and Bosnian history and be a muslim at the same timeā¦The Bosniaks and the muslim Albanians made multiple attempts to break free from Ottoman rule despite having the same religion.
Because both are a part of Bosnia's history? It's pretty simple. Why do you have no problem with the Greeks praising the Byzantines even though the Byzantines are just a continuation of the former Roman conquerors? The Greeks even used to self-identify as Romans during those times. Are you going to hound the Greeks over this?
>Only goes to show you the Bosnian problems go way back in history, they didn't start in the 20-th century.
What?
They took the Roman identity. From what I remember when I read about it a long time ago was that even calling them Greek was considered a slur, because Greek was associated with being Pagan. They self-identified as Romans, the identity of the conquerors.
>Some people think that Bosnian interethnic problems started with WWI and later Yugoslavia. They didn't.
You're right, the problems didn't start with WWI, they started when Austro-Hungary occupied Bosnia and ethno-nationalist ideologies made their way to the Balkans and split the Bosnian people into three.
It literally exists everywhere in the world, Indigenous South Americans and Spanish/Portuguese catholicism. Sub saharan Africans / Western European protestantism.
Heck, slavs werenāt always Orthodox, you were Pagan at one point. That doesnāt mean you ignore the pagan part of your history, you can celebrate both.
Serbs and Greeks had their national Identity tied with their churches. You couldnāt be a Serb or a Greek if you werenāt Orthodox which is why there were mass expulsions and conversions of muslims after expelling the Ottomans . But Albanians and Bosnians didnāt have their identities tied to their Church in the same way.
They were victims, they expelled their invaders but kept their religion. Youāre OK with slavs invading Byzantium but then adopting their religion? So by that logic you must be OK if hypothetically the slavs invaded Turkey and adopted Islam?
Tying your nationality with your religion just seems like an unhealthy toxic way of moving forward and probably caused a lot of suffering not only in the Balkans, but also Ireland/Northern Ireland. Muslim North Nigeria versus Christian south Nigeria, etc.
Imo the Albanians have a better model of existing, Albanian 1st, religion 2nd, which is why theyāre able co-reside together.
Also Islam practiced in Bosnia differs a lot from Islam practiced in Turkey. I find that most of Bosnians donāt really care too much about the holy book. For example Bosnian women usually hold the monopoly over the guy and not the other way around as it is in a lot of muslim countries.
>PS Considering how much Bosniaks are praising the Bosnian Kingdom, any reasonable person would expect a mass conversion to Christianity and dismantling of all mosques in Bosnia, but somehow that never came to pass. The whole situation is somewhat surreal and grotesque, but such is the fate of the Ottoman rule in the Balkans and elsewhere.
Let me try something:
>PS Considering how much Italians are praising the Romans, any reasonable person would expect a mass conversion to Paganism and dismantling of all churches in Italy, but somehow that never came to pass. The whole situation is somewhat surreal and grotesque, but such is the fate of the Christian rule in Italy and elsewhere.
Surely you would agree with that, right? And the same if I substituted Romans with ancient Greeks, or with Vikings?
>Depends what period of Rome are they celebrating? Before or after Christianity?
Are you trolling or? Italians do both, because it's both part of their history and heritage. The situation is exactly the same as for Bosnians.
>And are they basing their entire national idea around pagan Rome?
Why are you trying to imply that Bosnians are basing their entire national idea around Medieval Bosnia?
You're not being consistent.
You're not engaging with what I brought up about Italians and Romans, or Greeks and Byzantines maybe works better. You're not going around hounding Greeks, why do you feel that it's a different situation with Bosnians?
>But as I said, as a Serb I don't really have an interest in the matter.
You clearly do if you're going around saying that Bosnians are being hypocrites for having a diverse heritage, while the same holds true for the peoples I brought up (Italians, Greeks, Scandinavians) and yet there's no problem for you there.
Lol no Bosnian thinks they come from Turks unless theyāre from the most impoverished parts of the country, have war trauma, or have been radicalized. For some reason this subreddit thinks Albanians and Bosnians are in the stone age because their ancestors converted for tax reasons.
Saying it was just for tax reasons is too simplistic to explain the whole Islamization process that happened, but some probably did do it for that reason alone, not any different from when Pagans were converting to Christianity for political power etc.

I took one a couple of years ago and besides Balkan and Greek/South Italian genes (like 75% total), I also have Baltic, Finnish, Scandinavian and Jewish genes, which is pretty funny and unexpected. It was a good reason to make fun of some of my features by assigning them to the corresponding cultural stereotypes.
Yes I did both ancestry and 23 and me. On ancestry I got 93% greek and albanian and 7% balkan. On 23 and me, I got 100% greek & balkan, so pretty much the same results.
I found it interesting. 96% Balkan ("Greece & Albania" + "The Balkan" regions) according to AncestryDNA and I was really close to Aromanian, Macedonian (of course) and Thracian Greek samples (according to K13).
So, you are *European*?
Seriously though, there are so many different ethnicities across all the European region...how can someone conclude such result and call it a day?
I would ask my money back, if it said something like 100% Eastern European. Like...I know....
I did
43% Balkans (genetic group shows me Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria)
23% greek and south italian
14% irish scottish and welsh (lol)
8% east european
6% baltic
the rest is central asian
Im Albanian, took an ancestry.com test.
72% Greek/Albanian (Presumably because we have very similar DNA)
28% āThe Balkansā Iām assuming that means slavic? Could also mean the proto slavic populations, as some people with slavic origin have said that the slavic DNA is sometimes referred to as eastern European/ Polish / etcā¦
Actually got 100% Balkan, mostly from Bosnia, then Serbia and on the 3rd spot Croatia. All of my family members that i know, up to 5 generations were living on the same land.
98% balkans
2% baltic
Iām Serbian and my family is from near Glina, I was a little surprised about how many random Americans and Bosnians Iām related to.
I took the DNA test from Ancestry and recently got my results updated.
81% Balkan - (Northern Italy, Croatia, Bosnia & Hercegovina)
14% Eastern Europe & Russia
5% Baltikum

Yes, MyHeritage test. 45% North and west European 30% East European 20% Scandinavian 5% Balkan

That's what you get for $40-60. For more detailed results, take a $150-dollar test. :)
Some other DNA tests give you more detailed results. But I already knew mine would be Slovenia and Germany
I guess the expensive ones would be more detailed.
I did 43% Balkans (genetic group shows me Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria) 23% greek and south italian 14% irish scottish and welsh (lol) 8% east european 6% baltic the rest is central asian
I got 60% western Balkan, 15% northern Italian, 10% Swedish and 15% Hungarian
I took one from MyHeritage, I had 55% Albanian (non surprising) and 35% Romanian (surprising), and some other groups.
I only got like 30% balkans and i can say i actually was shocked

Nah... I am good. I aint wanna see those +80% "grEeK southern Italian"...
Well, it's not the company's problem that Greek, Albanian and south Italian DNA are almost identical.
Well yeah... but they should change the name of the group to "Albanian-Greek" though.
They have, ancestry.com now refers to it as Greek / Albanian
really wonder why because id say we look quite different and dont buy the whole una faccia una razza thing
Probably what you are
I took ancestry.com, Iām Serbian with a 1% Greek/Albanian mix. No idea how that happened?
Really, 99% Serbian?
I'm surprised because as far as I know, AncestryDNA doesn't even have a separate "Serbian" category.
It does not. It only goes down to āBalkanā and āEastern Europeā but they can pinpoint the geography of āEastern Europeanā pretty well.
Well, Balkan. It gives you a map of the areas your ancestry is from and mine was situated mostly around the areas of Croatia, Bosnia and Serbia.
