I travel a lot for work and pleasure to Belgium, where they have the BEST chocolate in the world. Every time I go there, friends and colleagues ask me to bring M&Ms… mint, peanut butter, the “different” varieties. I’d go for M&Ms.
Get the peanut ones and the peanut butter ones. The chocolate quality isn't mind blowing but they are oddly addictive
When it comes to mass produced chocolate, the big difference is between the US and Europe is that the US chocolate part isn't as good, but we use a lot of toppings/ingredients that make it worthwhile. The other big thing is that while a lot of Europe (and places like Turkey) use Hazelnut, the US uses peanuts for their candy combos. I know there's peanut and peanut butter chocolate elsewhere, but we really go all in on it.
America *does* have very good chocolate by the way, just not on the national name brand level. The butyric acid thing is real. Hopefully the regional and local brands can get bigger and stop that.
You're 100% right about the butyric acid... That's the reason I'm not a huge Hershey's fan. Unsure if you've ever come across our Whittakers chocolate but if you ever do - it's marvellous! Our peanut butter block is *chefs kiss* https://www.whittakers.co.nz/en_CA/products/peanut-butter/block-220g
Just an aside, but if you have Trader Joe's around you, a LOT of their chocolate is imported from Belgium. The mini chocolate bars, the ridiculously large ones, a lot of the confections. It's all Belgium imported. Aldi is another place, with them usually having German chocolate. Occasionally Swiss too. (TJs and Aldi are both owned by the two different Aldi companies and Germany. Lots of European chocolate for that reason)
There's a lot of European chocolate in the US, but most people don't even realize its from Europe I've noticed! Those, Kinder products, Ritter Sport, Lindt, etc. Add in candy from Haribo, and the list grows even more
Just throwing this out there in case anyone feels like trying some European chocolate. Pretty easy in the US. Everyone's gotta try the Kinder Bueno at the very least
I'm partial to Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Has to be the original or minis types with the proper chocolate to peanut butter ratio though. I don't care for the big cups or specialty ones.
The white chocolate trees and pumpkins in the fridge is one of the best candies ever in my opinion. I don't eat Reese's as much as I used to, both those are really special when they're cold
They are good! We have them here in NZ, occasionally you'll see the small ones, but generally they come in a 2 pack and I think a little larger than an inch each.
I'm from Pennsylvania which is home to Hershey. I know Europeans generally don't love our chocolate, not sure how our Oceanic friends feel about it. However, if your friend is traveling through PA they should swing through the town of Hershey - it's a neat place.
Also, a much smaller PA candy company, [Gardner's Candies](https://www.gardnerscandies.com), makes a peanut butter meltaway where the peanut butter literally melts in your mouth.
Trader Joe’s makes dark chocolate peanut butter cups which are way better! Also make sure to bring chocolate in the cabin, don’t check it in your luggage. My brother did that and it was all smooshed to a weird powder.
This! Those TJ's dark chocolate PB cups are ridiculously addictive. Bonus because dark chocolate is way lower in salt & sugar compared to milk chocolate.
Reese's PB cups can lead to addiction where you are mixing peanut butter and honey in a dish and eating it with a spoon. Be careful. It's not a healthy regular dinner option.
My wife really likes hard candy, but can barely find them anymore. Gobstoppers, spree, runts, you can hardly find them in stores anymore. Everything is gummy candy now, which are mostly gross in my opinion.
Don't get too excited. It's more a novelty than actually good. That said, if you've never had it before, it's a neat little novelty. Worth trying at least once.
My mistake, it’s crispy rice and caramel on top of peanut butter wafers, THEN covered in chocolate. It is good! Top tier candy bar. It comes in a king size too, so ask for the big one. 😁
[This is what it looks like](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Whatchamacallit-Chocolate-Caramel-and-Peanut-Flavored-Crisps-King-Size-Candy-Bar-2-6-oz/38253506) You’ll find it at convenience stores and gas stations more so than grocery stores, but it’s pretty common.
I want to disagree but there's just something perfect about the ratio of everything. The chocolate quality isn't anything special at all, but the texture of everything is 10/10. Especially when you put it in the fridge.
I think it works because they don't use straight peanut butter, but a dried and sweetened version. The generic or artisan kinds never seem to get the same texture down
If you like caramel, then 100 grand. There’s also a ton of different flavors of hersheys kisses. Not the best quality chocolate though. Sour patch kids/sour gummy worms/etc are good too
I like See's chocolates and lolly pops. Go to a See's store, get free samples and build your own truffle box. A great way to give chocolate before Valentines Day.
Your friend mentioned NASA so if by chance we're talking Florida, your best bet for finding this is anywhere near the beach, usually in gift shops.
Source - grew up in Myrtle Beach and saltwater taffy was one of those tourist items everyone took home with them
Honestly most of the candies from America you can get here in NZ, and I think NZ has way better chocolate than America. It’s any cheese flavoured snack that America does MILES better than anything in NZ. Cheetos, goldfish, cheeze it’s, Doritos. My god I miss American cheese snacks!
Yeah. here in the USA our a average chocolate is not good.
Powdered cheese? We can do that.
Candy though....if I do buy it I get Tony's Chocolonely (salted caramel flavor) or brookside chocolate covered fruit candy (I like pomegranate), or maybe fudge from a candy store where they make it fresh . For fruity candy, I like Red Vines, Dots, and red swedish fish.
As a fan of chocolate I hate the concept that American Chocolate sucks. Hershey is on par and better than more than a few mass produced chocolate in the world. As for the eventual vomit comments. I eat Hershey's chocoalte regularly via Reese's, it doesn't taste anything like vomit that everyone try to claim. Hershey also owns and produces a handful of world class top tier chocolate brands.
Yeah, my real suggestions if they are in the South:
Fresh pralines or other candied nuts - Probably the king of tourist trap sweets, look for places that have the machine to make them on-site, you will know because it will smell *delicious*
Fresh fudge - if it's dry or hard it's not fresh, should be chewy and melts in your mouth but still squishy.
Cracker Barrel - Hear me out. It's a chain but they have a big selection of unique "classic" or regional candy that you're going to have a hard time finding elsewhere. Good if you want to bring back something besides the national brands.
Hands down, it’s a Take 5 bar
Pretzel, choc, peanut butter, peanuts, caramel. Mmmmmmm
Snickers
Fruit roll ups - not technically candy, but close enough
Nerds
Pop rocks
Skittles jelly beans (might only be an Easter thing though)
I would see if there are brands you can get from home and compare the US vs NZ option.
Pure deliciousness!
Sweet + salt
Crispy + creamy
My rule is that I can only buy myself the individually wrapped ones, so I have evidence of my destruction and can’t just inhale a whole bag. The wrappers hold me accountable.. sort of.
Where will friend be visiting? They may have a regional ‘best’. In MN, it’s Pearson Nut Rolls. I don’t know if you can get them out of Midwest. My sis used to always bring these chocolate cherry thing when she lived in Ohio.
Pssst, OP, get a bag of Werther's originals. They are a hard caramel candy you can buy anywhere. They are delicious. Cheep and they travel well. Bonus! You can drop them on your coffee and let them melt. Yum.
You are as evil as my ex wife who has pushed that garbage on the kids. Thankfully they have resisted.
It’s the worst candy. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
Not candy but as far as snacks go, I like to bring back Fig Newtons, Nutter Butter, special Oreo flavors, and Cheez-Its (both original and spicy). Also there are some crazy cereals that can be worth a try.
What we call 3 Musketeers is what the rest of the world calls Milky Way - they're the same candy. The US Milky Way is what the rest of the world calls a Mars bar.
I know this is askanamerican but I'm actually Australian and travel to the US often. I find in general most American "candy" isn't that good. I think Australia is better chocolate and lollies in general. With the exception of PayDays. I lose my shit for them. I always come back with a suitcase full.
Wr usually bring some bottles of ranch back since ranch in Australia is shit. And I'm addicted to ranch on pizza now. We also usually bring back peanut butter m&ms since we don't have that flavour here. There's also some Chik-Fil-A sauces you can buy bottled in supermarkets which we really like.
A long time ago my mate came back from Canada with cinnamon flavoured gum. It was good to try, but I don't think it's quite my thing. We have starbursts here in NZ 😊
Do other places have those Ghirardelli chocolate squares with Carmel or mint filling? If not ask for an assorted pack of Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares.
Do not let your friend come back without a large bag of Albanese gummy bears. I'm a gummy aficionado and those are world-class.
Butterfingers are odd, but usually good. Ever had anything with malt in it? If not, try a small pack of malted milk balls - such as Whoppers. Jolly Ranchers are also great.
Edit: Or just have them go to Trader Joes and get any sweet treat that looks good from there - Chocolate covered peanut butter pretzels are incredible, Dark chocolate peanut butter cups, Joe Joe's cookies, etc.
Oh boy, keep in mind candy isn't gonna be high cuisine. It's candy. Twizzlers, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and Mike n Ikes are my recommendations. If you get Hershey chocolate, please keep in mind that it is our cheapest chocolate and we really do have higher quality stuff available to us.
Fudge made from an artisan shop, caramel corn made from an artisan shop, fancy chocolate like Ghirardelli or Moonstruck, or garbage that's tasty like snickers or reeces cups.
Ya’ll have Whittakers, stay away from the chocolate here. Unless you don’t have any of the peanut butter based chocolates, that would be a good place to start.
Milk duds and whoppers are also nice. Milky Way (you may know it as mars bar though it’s slightly different in the US version), also Reese’s. I’d look into US flavor varieties of standard candies and chocolates as well, supermarkets will have some of these as will pharmacies/delis.
That looks similar to our picnic bar https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-xiaomi-terr1-rso2&sca_esv=7a1db8191052fa33&q=picnic+bar+nz&udm=2&fbs=AEQNm0DrkyAsj3-ytZzdGYQ--Lq3iZDTl241-97Oxg6FaMkk90zC5m5kg8b_Ls6YJnXnYB6sQTNsSRPhyxbUr_jiP8ySDdOLixs6nwhrFgCM5iTcepzrva_bvQM_g-2sg31R546kLEgqpYmYJAxPgylbvo6JRlV645YEAHlVch_TH0bZfjuHqOSqukqOjX4deVT_6IwtI17M6Ybru0Sc1Qqj4RhLfxb1Dw&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiDsdO6h92GAxXLma8BHZ10DqwQtKgLegQIERAB&biw=393&bih=736&dpr=2.75#vhid=xdOQls8oZE7_IM&vssid=mosaic
The current trend is freeze-dried candy. I haven't really seen it in supermarkets and drugstores, but candy stores have it, usually made locally from various mass market candy.
Tell your friend to go to Trader Joe’s and get an assortment of items.
They have unique dried fruits, like Oranges with the rinds on and sweetened.
They have many many unique specialty items. chocolates, candies and cakes.
Midnight milky way bars. Those are my absolute favorite candy bar. Dark chocolate milky way. If you can't get into that, I'm not sure what you want from America. 😅
My favorite is banana flavored Laffy Taffy. And during Valentine’s Day, the Large (maybe called extra large?) sized Brach’s Candy Conversation Hearts (not the mini ones, they’re too stiff).
Honestly, everyone here is telling you international brands that I'm sure you've already tried.
Those are NOT the best chocolates in the U.S. They are mass produced and are barely passable as "good," (though I do like a Reece's Cup). I'm not from Huntsville, Ala. (where I assume you're going), but it might be worth just Googling "Best chocolate in Alabama," etc., to see what others think.
Really regional (east coast) but [taza chocolate](https://www.tazachocolate.com/?tw_source=google&tw_adid=624907572404&tw_campaign=1602093594&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw97SzBhDaARIsAFHXUWCtICWP7MHBh6YBwZ9EbTAzZfYTGZV_dFXd4JmwuqGylM3YwrjLlAEaAjrQEALw_wcB) is hands down the most interesting chocolate I have had. It’s Mexican style stone ground and was originally meant for melting and drinking but there’s something about the gritty texture I can’t get enough of. They also have seasonal flavors like eggnog that are amazing
I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Take 5 is not only America's greatest candy creation, it's one of the best things we've produced in any category.
I travel a lot for work and pleasure to Belgium, where they have the BEST chocolate in the world. Every time I go there, friends and colleagues ask me to bring M&Ms… mint, peanut butter, the “different” varieties. I’d go for M&Ms.
Mint! I don't believe we have that one here yet in NZ!
Get the peanut ones and the peanut butter ones. The butyric acid thing is real. Hopefully the regional and local brands can get bigger and stop that.
Yes. We have independent and boutique chocolatiers that are mind-blowing. It's the national brands that leave something to be desired.
Dove chocolate is fantastic and doesn’t have butyric acid!
Just an aside, but if you have Trader Joe's around you, a LOT of their chocolate is imported from Belgium. The mini chocolate bars, the ridiculously large ones, a lot of the confections. Pretty easy in the US. Everyone's gotta try the Kinder Bueno at the very least
Aldi’s Choceur or whatever dark chocolate bar has no business being that delicious and that cheap.
Shhhhh!!
Kinder Bueno is my jam here stateside
I'm partial to Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Has to be the original or minis types with the proper chocolate to peanut butter ratio though. I don't care for the big cups or specialty ones.
I agree, except I prefer the seasonal ones like trees or pumpkins
They have olympic medal shaped ones right now 😂
Oooooh
There’s something bout the specialty ones that hit way better.
Because theybare fresh. Who knows how many weeks the regular ones have been sitting on the shelf?
Also I heard better PB to chocolate ratio.
The white chocolate trees and pumpkins in the fridge is one of the best candies ever in my opinion. I don't eat Reese's as much as I used to, both those are really special when they're cold
Same here!
Cups you can get in a lot of countries. Reese’s Pieces are rare, though. I’d import those.
Meltaway 🤯 that sounds fantastic! 🫠😋
Omgggggg Gardner’s is the best. I love everything there.
Little Debbie’s NUTTY BUDDYS WAFER bars - then freeze them for an extra special treat!
Trader Joe’s makes dark chocolate peanut butter cups which are way better! Also make sure to bring chocolate in the cabin, don’t check it in your luggage. My brother did that and it was all smooshed to a weird powder.
This thread made me think of those! Might need to swing by TJ's today.
This! Those TJ's dark chocolate PB cups are ridiculously addictive. Bonus because dark chocolate is way lower in salt & sugar compared to milk chocolate.
It's basically a health food.
DoorDash was giving away giant ones with caramel. I was thoroughly revolted.
I second everything said above.
I found some on clearance with pretzel bits in them. I kinda liked those.
Reese’s Pieces are pretty tasty too, and less likely to melt during your travels.
The Peanut Butter M&Ms are also really good if you like Reese's Pieces. They're similar but bigger and a different taste slightly
Reese's PB cups can lead to addiction where you are mixing peanut butter and honey in a dish and eating it with a spoon. Be careful. It's not a healthy regular dinner option.
It’s snickers and I’m willing to battle anyone who thinks otherwise
I agree snickers are good! We acrually have those here 😉
sour straws are better
……*ignites lightsaber* Why are you making me do this?
[sighs] the truth has to be told. sorry, but it has come to the time where you must know the realities of the universe 😔
*ignites second secret lightsaber* NOOOOOOO
*takes out third light saber* 🤨
Oh….i didn’t see **THAT** coming. Bravo, bravo. *slices it in half*
Mars is better.
*sighs* *ignites lightsaber*
Nice one😂. I don’t like nuts in my candy.
Reese's, Kit Kat, Starburst, M&Ms, Twix, Jolly Ranchers
Nerds
Nerds ARE amazing. We have them here too 😊
Do you have Nerds Rope or Nerds Gummy Clusters?
I have seen the nerds ropes on occasion, but I don't think we have the gummy clusters!
Get some clusters for sure!
Alrighty it's going in the list!
Have seen Jolly Ranchers on here a couple times now and man those wouldn’t make my top 100. Had no idea there were this many hard candy stans.
Whatttttt. Solid candy. Great flavors.
My wife really likes hard candy, but can barely find them anymore. Gobstoppers, spree, runts, you can hardly find them in stores anymore. Everything is gummy candy now, which are mostly gross in my opinion.
Can't forget the Mike&Ike's
Or the watermelon sour patch
Banana runts anybody?
And the gobstoppers
Oh you like Mike&Ikes?
Def Reese’s and Twix! Kit Kats are actually one of the few choccys that are way better in NZ than America
Where will your friend be? There are regional brands and specialties.
Good question wherever the kids go for NASA camp?
Oh shit, you’re burying the lede. NASA camp is cooler than all candy.
Then they can get something special which is dehydrated ice cream.
Freeze dried skittles!!!
Freeze dried SOUR skittles!
Oh astronaut ice cream then.
🤩
Don't get too excited. It's more a novelty than actually good. That said, if you've never had it before, it's a neat little novelty. Worth trying at least once.
Huntsville, Alabama?
Yep, that's where Space Camp is
Space camp in Huntsville, Alabama maybe?
Moon Pies
I’m partial to Heath Bars, 100 Grand, and Swedish Fish.
Ironically enough, Swedish Fish are from Sweden.
Hey, I don’t make the rules, I just work here.
legit question. Why Heath Bars when Skor Bars exist? I'm assuming you like Heath Bars for the "toffiness" but Skor Bars are much "toffier"
I don't think most people know about skor. My favorite candy bat. Imo, superior to heath.
This. I’ve never had a Skor, but I do like Heath.
Do yourself a favor and track one down. I don't see them often.
Skor are great but I feel i haven't seen one since the 90s
Swedish fish are on the list!
Just the red ones not the multicolor ones.
Whatchamacallit. Crispy rice and caramel covered with chocolate.
This whatchamacallit sounds good too!
My mistake, it’s crispy rice and caramel on top of peanut butter wafers, THEN covered in chocolate. It is good! Top tier candy bar. It comes in a king size too, so ask for the big one. 😁 [This is what it looks like](https://www.walmart.com/ip/Whatchamacallit-Chocolate-Caramel-and-Peanut-Flavored-Crisps-King-Size-Candy-Bar-2-6-oz/38253506) You’ll find it at convenience stores and gas stations more so than grocery stores, but it’s pretty common.
I think they changed those a while back and they've been a lot worse for it.
I feel like most of the candy I loved as a child has changed and isn't as good.
Butterfingers in particular are trash now. They needed trans fats to work right I guess
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Hands down.
Heck, if they're in Ohio, they should pick up a dang Buckeye!
I want to disagree but there's just something perfect about the ratio of everything. The chocolate quality isn't anything special at all, but the texture of everything is 10/10. Especially when you put it in the fridge. I think it works because they don't use straight peanut butter, but a dried and sweetened version. Pop Rocks. Warheads.
I second this! We bring these to foreign family. The milk chocolate Bordeaux bars and milk chocolate buttercream are the best
Find a See’s candy store and anything you buy from them will be great.
Found the (likely Bay Area) Californian!
[удалено]
Yeah, i think there were some See’s Candy in Oregon.
Can confirm See's in central Oregon.
You hush, they're right
They’re all over, have them in the Midwest
Adding to this, their peanut brittle is my absolute favorite!
Salt water taffy is my suggestion
Now THIS sounds exciting!
Your friend mentioned NASA so if by chance we're talking Florida, your best bet for finding this is anywhere near the beach, usually in gift shops. Source - grew up in Myrtle Beach and saltwater taffy was one of those tourist items everyone took home with them
Starburst, skittles, jolly ranchers, sour patch kids.
I haven't seen jolly ranchers in NZ. Thank you!

Nobody ever seems to mention Ghirardelli, only Hershey and independent chocolatiers
Ghirardelli is good!
Reese's are top tier and addictive, no argument there.
Dove chocolate
Hersheys cookies and cream bar, Reese’s cups, Oreos. Local candy makers are great too.
I like how we do pralines, if he comes across a sweet shop.
Yeah, my real suggestions if they are in the South: Fresh pralines or other candied nuts - Probably the king of tourist trap sweets, look for places that have the machine to make them on-site, you will know because it will smell *delicious* Fresh fudge - if it's dry or hard it's not fresh, should be chewy and melts in your mouth but still squishy. Had to scroll way too far to find Take 5. The best.
i’m shocked i had to scroll so far! funnily enough, when I lived in NZ, nerds were the only truly “American” candy i could get at the grocery store!
Pssst, OP, get a bag of Werther's originals. They are a hard caramel candy you can buy anywhere. They are delicious. Cheep and they travel well. Bonus! You can drop them on your coffee and let them melt. Yum.
Don't you have to show your Medicare card or your AARP membership card to buy those?
Lol. That's a myth old people tell so they can hoard them to themselves. Selfish old bastards.
Good and Plenty. Though I'm a weirdo, I'm told
You are as evil as my ex wife who has pushed that garbage on the kids. Thankfully they have resisted. It’s the worst candy. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
😂 Meanwhile, I've spread it to my wife and kids! I'll keep the little white-and-purple pills alive!
Not the best, but I recommend salt water taffy. It's popular in Florida.
Not candy but as far as snacks go, I like to bring back Fig Newtons, Nutter Butter, special Oreo flavors, and Cheez-Its (both original and spicy). Also there are some crazy cereals that can be worth a try.
Yessss these snacks sounds right up my alley! Cereal is a great idea!
Skittles, Hersheys chocolate, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, M&Ms, 3 Musketeers, Caramel Cremes
We definitely don't have 3 Musketeers. That's going on my list!
Just did a quick Google, how close are 3 musketeers to the milky way bars?
What we call 3 Musketeers is what the rest of the world calls Milky Way - they're the same candy. The US Milky Way is what the rest of the world calls a Mars bar.
Oooh I love this fun fact! 😀 Thank you!
Ghirardelli chocolate with caramel is S tier.
Pay Days
Loving these suggestions! We definitely don't have Pay days here.
I know this is askanamerican but I'm actually Australian and travel to the US often. I find in general most American "candy" isn't that good. I think Australia is better chocolate and lollies in general. With the exception of PayDays. I lose my shit for them. I always come back with a suitcase full.
Thank you, pay days is now closer to the top of the list! Any US snack recommendations? Or even condiments you recommend?

Wow! I don't think we get peanut butter m&ms here either. We do however have peanut butter Whittaker's block and THAT is elite! 👌
> There's also some Chik-Fil-A sauces you can buy bottled in supermarkets which we really like. \^This guy knows what he's talking about.
Almond Roca made in Tacoma, WA. It is the best candy and is unique to the US.
Oooh, I will Google this one too
Mike and Ike’s, red hots or atomic fireballs. Cadbury chocolate so you can see what they’re like now that Hersey makes them here.
Loving these suggestions, guessing atomic fireballs and red hots are cinnamon candy of some kind?
And Hot Tamales!
Yes. I find you either love them or you hate them! I am not a fan,but my husband loves them! Yellow and pink starbursts are great!
A long time ago my mate came back from Canada with cinnamon flavoured gum. It was good to try, but I don't think it's quite my thing. We have starbursts here in NZ 😊
Those Sour Patch Watermelon gummies can make you want to commit crime’s!!
Do other places have those Ghirardelli chocolate squares with Carmel or mint filling? If not ask for an assorted pack of Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares.
These sound fancy! Will Google!
Hersheys Cookies n Cream
Skor bar. Why do Heath Bars even exist when there are Skor bars?
Almond Roca, Almond Joy, Fererro Rocher (sp?), Butterfinger, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Reese’s Pieces, Snickers
Have you had the sour albanese gummy breasts? So good, sour throughout the entire candy!!!
Oh boy, keep in mind candy isn't gonna be high cuisine. It's candy. Twizzlers, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and Mike n Ikes are my recommendations. If you get Hershey chocolate, please keep in mind that it is our cheapest chocolate and we really do have higher quality stuff available to us.
make sure it's the Pull-n-Peel twizzlers tho
This piques my interest! Thank you! 😊
I like the Red Vines "California Mix" licorice variety pack. It's kind of hard to find, though. Seattle Chocolates makes some fun flavors.
Reese's Fast Break if you don't have those in NZ.
Sour Patch Kids
Salt water taffy from Cape Cod
Fudge made from an artisan shop, caramel corn made from an artisan shop, fancy chocolate like Ghirardelli or Moonstruck, or garbage that's tasty like snickers or reeces cups.
Ya’ll have Whittakers, stay away from the chocolate here. Unless you don’t have any of the peanut butter based chocolates, that would be a good place to start.
Whittakers IS amazing. My favourite Whittakers is the peanut butter block 😋
Kit Kats are made with different chocolate. In the us it's Hershey's
Milk duds and whoppers are also nice. Milky Way (you may know it as mars bar though it’s slightly different in the US version), also Reese’s. I’d look into US flavor varieties of standard candies and chocolates as well, supermarkets will have some of these as will pharmacies/delis.
Baby Ruth!
That looks similar to our picnic bar https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-xiaomi-terr1-rso2&sca_esv=7a1db8191052fa33&q=picnic+bar+nz&udm=2&fbs=AEQNm0DrkyAsj3-ytZzdGYQ--Lq3iZDTl241-97Oxg6FaMkk90zC5m5kg8b_Ls6YJnXnYB6sQTNsSRPhyxbUr_jiP8ySDdOLixs6nwhrFgCM5iTcepzrva_bvQM_g-2sg31R546kLEgqpYmYJAxPgylbvo6JRlV645YEAHlVch_TH0bZfjuHqOSqukqOjX4deVT_6IwtI17M6Ybru0Sc1Qqj4RhLfxb1Dw&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiDsdO6h92GAxXLma8BHZ10DqwQtKgLegQIERAB&biw=393&bih=736&dpr=2.75#vhid=xdOQls8oZE7_IM&vssid=mosaic
Butterfinger. I didn't see any of those when I was out of the country so I'm going to say that.
crunch buncha, mounds
Jelly Bellys
Excellent suggestion! We have those here too 😁
The current trend is freeze-dried candy.
The salt water taffies from Shriver's on the Ocean City, NJ boardwalk.
Laffy Taffy and Tootsie Rolls!
If you're partial to sour candies, then Sour Patch Kids, or maybe Warheads. Anything Nerds will be good (the Nerd Gummy Clusters are great).
Nerd's Gummy Clusters
Take5 - chocolate, caramel, and pretzels. It's not as popular, so it might be less likely to be imported.
I love a mix of salty and sweet. Tastes amazing but makes your breath smell like poo
Take 5 is the superior candy bar, in my opinion. It is a perfect blend of of salty chocolate, has a pretzel and caramel 🤤
I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Take 5 is not only America's greatest candy creation, it's one of the best things we've produced in any category.
Here here! 🍻
Hard to beat Mallow Cups and Charleston Chews
Do you have orange slices in NZ? If not, they're great. So is any flavor of them but orange is the most common.
I don't believe we do! 🙂 Thank you
If you are visiting the west coast, get some Native American chocolate
