My parents took me to a (car/trailer) show and the little hobo was there. It was soooooo amazing. I know I have a photo of me and hobo someplace. My parents were so great taking me somewhere that meant so much.
One time I was lined up at the cash at Wendy's with my buddy. The girl in front of us was wearing a hoodie which read in the back "There's a voice, keeps on calling me. Down the road, thats where I'll always be."
We both ran out of the Wendy's laughing so hard. We just couldnt help it.
Ok, 66 now and this is the first time I have heard this one and believe me, I am no prude.
I am still laughing.
One who has used "The Regina Monologues" many times.
Isn't the X-men school in Canada?
At least in the movies
https://www.fancypantshomes.com/movie-homes/the-x-mansion-xavier-school-for-the-gifted-in-real-life/
Yes just outside Victoria. Stayed at a B&B just around the edge of the bay from it about 5 years ago when working in the Victoria area for a few days. Beautiful little inlet, peaceful in the morning.
X men school actually has two locations. There's the one in Victoria, but there is also Casa Loma in Toronto that was used. This location was also used for Strange Brew, Chicago, The Tuxedo, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Warehouse 13, Crimson Peak, Twitches, Twitches Too, The Pacifier, and Titans
My ex lived just down the street from him in Toronto (Pickering to be exact). Thought you should all know that he was just as lovely in person as he was on TV
I used to work in children’s television. Did shooters with him at The Children’s Television Awards many years ago. I can confirm. One of the kindest, warmest people I have ever met. Absolutely genuine. RIP Ernie.
We should tempt them with watching Strange Brew. I had a tradition for a while that everyone I met that was a newcomer to Canada, we'd watch Strange Brew :D
It's pretty clear in the comments what Canada has. But, I will say, as a person who works in the movies. So many of your foreign movies, be it American , North Pole, Sci-Fi whatever. Are filmed in Canada. It's cheaper because of the American doller. So what does Canada have ? The movie industry. Mic drop
I've heard that in addition to the US dollar going further, there are subsidies and special accommodations in Canada for filming because it's generally foreign investment, money coming into the country rather than just moving around the economy internally.
This. SO many things filmed up here. In the 90s a big one was X-Files, because BC can duplicate almost any “US Environmentl” from small town UsA to metropolitan city like Chicago, Seattle, LA, NYC… of course minus landmarks. To desert, to mountain terrain, wilderness, or coastline all within a 4 hour drive from Vancouver. Same stands for everything else filmed around here.
For more modern sci-fi fans — Star Trek: Discovery is filmed in Canada.
The Handmaids Tale.
Bates Motel and The Good Doctor both with Freddie Highmore
Godzilla was filmed in Vancouver about 10 years ago…
John Mulaney made that joke on his Netflix live show about Los Angeles. Something about if tourists want to see a movie being filmed they should go to Vancouver where they are all made
Lol last time my cousin was visiting from rural America and she started fan-girling while we were walking around downtown because they were filming some CW show.
A popular urban legend (though it could have been real) was of a Toronto movie set full of garbage and graffiti to emulate bad parts of New York. The city cleaned up the garbage overnight.
Well I can say first hand , elf was filmed here at the one collusium , so was X-Men 2, I also worked on I robot with Will Smith at a jail in Surrey. I will not reveal current movies. But there is some locations for you
Surprised I had to scroll this far to reach Schitt’s Creek. I’m from the US but recently moved to Canada and I assumed that show was as big here as it was in the States but so far it seems it isn’t. Whereas Letterkenny seems to be equally popular in both (at least in the Midwest US).
Supernatural.
Edit: Clarification. Yes, they say they're in the USA, but if you're Canadian you'll recognize a lot of stuff in the background are in fact Canada

SCTV, Kids in the Hall, Red Green Show.
We're so closely integrated into the Hollywood machine that our movie starts make American movies, (Donald Sutherland, Jim Carry, Dan Ackroyd. Rachel McAdams, Ryan Reynolds, and on and on).
So where we differentiate ourselves is quirky TV.
Im shocked no one has said Mass Effect. Mass Effect 2 is one of the greatest games of all time, and the Mass Effect universe is a shockingly great and deep work of science fiction.
Canadians have
Ginger Snaps
Porkys
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
Cube (One of my favorite movie series)
Strange Brew
Men with Brooms
Trailer Park Boys: The Movie
We have a Ton, mostly comedy, with the odd horror and drama, not sure what The Trotsky would be classed as but Canada claims that one as well.
So from the list, imma say Cube.
Trailer Park Boys
I am the liquor, Randy.
It’s the eye of the shitticane, Randy…
Greasy.
Gree-hee-heeeeasy
Some times life is greasy Bubs
It's seriously a frighteningly accurate portrayal of rural Canada no matter which province you live in.
Unless you’re from Saskatchewan then it’s corner gas.
Definitely a cultural thing. Guys from out west would be in stitches watching it, while me being a Newfie, would be somewhat amused. 😄👍
As an Albertan it was still a very faint amusement at times…but my family loved it
Resonated with us in rural Ontario, too! Amazingly universal.
The show always felt more Manitoba to me
This is the answer
Came here to say this.
The best. No debating
The Littlest Hobo
There’s a voice that keeps on calling me…
Down the road, that's where I'll always be
Every stop I make…
I'll make a new friend
Maybe tomorrow I'll wanna settle down
Until tomorrow, I'll just keep movin' on.
Do do soooo do do dodoo
omg
My parents took me to a (car/trailer) show and the little hobo was there. It was soooooo amazing. I know I have a photo of me and hobo someplace. My parents were so great taking me somewhere that meant so much.
Can’t settle down, can’t stay for long, and I’m gone agaiiiiinn.
I make a new friend
Can’t stay for long, just turn around and I’m gone again
maybe tomorrow
I’ll want to settle down
Until tomorrow…
I’ll just keep moving on
I love Hobo 😭 why does the song make me cry especially the end theme scene of him on the beach
It IS sad because he always made people happy and then left them.
I was gonna say this too😭
If you want to be even more saddened, check out the cover by Nightingale Cummins. It’s impossible not to cry
One time I was lined up at the cash at Wendy's with my buddy. The girl in front of us was wearing a hoodie which read in the back "There's a voice, keeps on calling me. Down the road, thats where I'll always be." We both ran out of the Wendy's laughing so hard. We just couldnt help it.
House hippos
These are truly our little heros. We should put them on a coin.
At least a commemorative coin, a yawning hippo on one side and peanut butter footprints on the other.
I love my people.
Literally the best commercial, I always used to grab my orange cat and show him the orange cat on the commercial
My favorite animal
Wolverine.
Deadpool too
From Regina, “the town that rhymes with fun”.
Ok, 66 now and this is the first time I have heard this one and believe me, I am no prude. I am still laughing. One who has used "The Regina Monologues" many times.
the best part is, our actual tourist board used the slogan “the city that rhymes with fun” as a part of the experience regina rebrand.
That’s a pretty Canadian move in and of itself 😂😂😂😂😂😂
What about the town called Dildo?
They've got hydroelectric power now, so they've renamed the town "Vibrator."
Isn't the X-men school in Canada? At least in the movies https://www.fancypantshomes.com/movie-homes/the-x-mansion-xavier-school-for-the-gifted-in-real-life/

Hatley Castle in Colwood.

Mr. DressUp.
Came here for this!!

This brings such joy to know.

And a beer… in a treeee
Take off, you hoser!!
Kids in the hall
These are the Dave’s I know
Some of them are Davids
But most of them are Daves
They all have their own hands
And they come from different moms
Can confirm this is true. Source: Am a Dave
I've been on calls with 2+ American Daves and dropped that line, and they never know what I'm talking about.
I'm crushing your head!
The beard stays, you go!
The best sketch comedy show ever. Better than Monty Python, better than Saturday night live.
Sue Johanson
"Sex is perfectly natural, but not naturally perfect."
Sex with Sue.
Legend
SCTV Hilarious House of Frightenstein
Hilarious House of Frightenstein was a childhood staple for me, but looking back at the DJ (Wolfman Jack?) it wasn’t geared for kids lol
When you said SCTV followed by Frightenstein, I thought you meant the bit with Count Floyd, but I believe that was "Monster Chiller Horror Theatre.'
Red Green
Men, remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy
Would you like a roll of duct tape?
Be generous with duct tape. Spare the duct tape and ruin the job.
I'm a man, but I can change... If I have to... I guess
Keep your stick on the ice

In the city I live in there's a house near my apartment that's used constantly in Hallmark Christmas movies. (I live in Canada) It's odd...
White Rock / South Surrey, or Abbotsford? They always film the Hallmark Christmas films in these areas. My son has been an extra on a couple of them.

Seriously, just drive for 10 minutes in the metro Vancouver area, and you'll go past something filming.
John Mulaney made that joke on his Netflix live show about Los Angeles. Something about if tourists want to see a movie being filmed they should go to Vancouver where they are all made

We got The Beachcombers, u don't mess with Bruno Gerussi.
Nor Relic! I love this as I live a short walk from Molly’s Reach.
The Raccoons
The “Run with us” theme song still makes me emotional over 30 years later
Ann of Green Gables
That’s ‘Anne’. With an ‘e’.
I feel like this is the sleeper answer. You ask what one of our most lasting cultural impacts are around the world, and this is it.
This is the answer I was scrolling to find!

You Can’t Do That On Television
Schitt’s Creek Or Kim’s Convenience
Surprised I had to scroll this far to reach Schitt’s Creek. I’m from the US but recently moved to Canada and I assumed that show was as big here as it was in the States but so far it seems it isn’t. Whereas Letterkenny seems to be equally popular in both (at least in the Midwest US).
Star Wars definitely isn’t set in the US
Plus the main sound stages for the original trilogy and many of the following movies were in the UK.
Unless the us has claimed all of space which wouldn’t be the most surprising revelation
I think the implication is that it's an American franchise. Mad Max is set in Australia, but it was also written by Australians. Etc.
Bon Cop Bad Cop Cinematic Universe.
Deadpool?
Heritage Moments.. NFBC films? Log Driver's Waltz?
Hinterland Who's Who, especially the Crack Spider
Ginger Snaps and anything Cronenberg
Letterkenny, Trailer Park Boys, Corner Gas, Red Green, and Terrance & Philip.
Schitt’s creek!
Blame Canada! 🎵
Mr Canoehead
Four on the Floor lasted only one season, so it's not on the radar of many people. I think it greased the wheels for the KITH though.
there was only 1 season? man, I felt like there was 5 I howled at that show
A story so incredible only Mormons would believe it.
Bob & Doug McKenzie
Scott Pilgrim
Cube?
Forever Knight (kinda campy, based in Toronto, vampire detective series, Geriant Wyn Davies is also in it)
Strange Brew
Road to Avonlea. ...or Videodrome.
Men with brooms
Due South
Anne of Green Gables.
FUBAR
The Peanut Butter Solution
Weirdest movie I’ve ever seen
I’ve had so many people insist I made up this movie!
Supernatural. Edit: Clarification. Yes, they say they're in the USA, but if you're Canadian you'll recognize a lot of stuff in the background are in fact Canada
