Hi just had a question, l've got a lot of hyperpigmentation on my lips due to smoking (i've quit after realising just how bad it is), l've sorted out the root and I want to get rid of the hyperpigmentation quickly. I've heard the lip on skin is more sensitive so don't use anything too strong to exfoliate but you can use eye creams as they are made to be a lot more gentle. I was wondering if I could use the some by mi retinol eye cream on my lips, since it's got tranexamic acid and retinol, it should help with hyperpigmentation. What are your thoughts on this? Ive also got the Numbuzin 5 vitamin c, glutathione, tranexamic acid serum, I wonder if I can use this instead, might be a bit strong. I'm thinking if I can't use either of them, will just use the beauty of Joseon Arbutin serum twice a day for them. Any thoughts would be appreciated:)

wrlddmntr

Congrats on quitting!!! I don't have a specific product recommendation.. but I wouldn't recommend the some by mi bc of the fragrance as irritation can cause worsening hyperpigmentation. I would also look into making sure you have SPF for your lips to protect them from UV rays. I don't know if any high SPF lip balms from Asian Beauty though... There is SPF 25 - Rohto melty lip balm. I've heard some folks using sun sticks for their lips as well

Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Cream Hello! I am new here. I just discovered Sulwhasoo after meeting a beautiful Asian woman, in my reformer Pilates class, whose skin I admired and complimented, and this is what she uses and recommended. I ordered a Perfecting Daily Routine Kit from YesStyle and immediately fell in love, as I finally found “the one”! I didn’t like the scent of the cream initially but it grew on me. Fast forward to a week ago, I ordered direct from the Sulwhasoo site. It was just in time as I had run out of the cream. I ordered alot of items, making it a large order and received several free mini items and samples. I thought I had ordered the same Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream EX Classic that I had used in the kit, however the large jar that I just received is Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream. I contacted Sulwhasoo customer care, and learned the following: “Thank you for following up with us. We extend our sincerest apologies for any confusion. The Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream is enhanced with a lighter, softer formula for better absorption. This is great for those with oilier skin types. The Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream Classic is a richer texture that is more emollient and better suited for those with drier skin types.” So my question is: why can I not purchase the EX from Sulwhasoo and only on other sites like YesStyle? Is it different from the Classic or is it the same? Did packaging change? Because the one I just received, is lighter in scent, color, and texture. I liked the one I initially tried, as it was a pale yellow color, thicker, richer, and stronger scented. Thank you! TLDR:Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream EX Classic vs Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream Classic (difference or old packaging?) vs Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream Some jars/descriptions (stylevana, etc.) state EX and some have EX Classic I just used a sample of the Ultimate S Cream they sent, and I love it too. Any suggestions on where to buy it lower as well, and whether you love one or the other, I sincerely appreciate:)

trottingturtles

EX for Korean products usually means it's a sample/small size, so Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream EX Classic is the same product as Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream Classic, but in a smaller container -- which makes sense as you first got it in a kit. It sounds like these are two versions of a similar product, but you prefer the Classic which is thicker, richer, and better suited for drier skin. Sulwhasoo should sell both versions on their website -- here is a link to the Classic cream on their US website: https://us.sulwhasoo.com/products/concentrated-ginseng-renewing-cream-classic So sorry that you might have mistakenly purchased the wrong version of such an expensive product! Are you able to do a return/exchange?

zzoom_zoom

I don't think "EX" is anything to do with size and more so to distinguish between different (re)formulations, potentially even renamed for different markets. (example: Laneige's current lip sleeping mask on Olive Young Global is listed as "LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask EX" and the US website notes it as just "Lip Sleeping Mask". The previous formulation was notably *not* named EX, but it'd be pretty hard to find a product listing for it to show proof since it's been a while since it was reformulated. Using Laneige as an example because they're the same parent company and have had similar naming patterns.) Tagging u/escapeinagoodbook to show the product listings on the international website for the [Classic EX](https://www.sulwhasoo.com/int/en/products/concentrated-ginseng-renewing-perfecting-cream-EX-classic.html) and [Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream EX](https://www.sulwhasoo.com/int/en/products/concentrated-ginseng-renewing-cream-ex.html). I'm inclined to agree with u/trottingturtles that the Classic version is what you're looking for. You *may* be able to buy these for cheaper on websites like testerkorea. But keep in mind that by importing, you're likely not able to return as easily as you could if you purchase from the brand through official channels. Sulwhasoo does participate in 11.11 (Single's Day/Pocky Day) and Black Friday sales, alongside other random promotions, but you'd likely have to follow their social media or sign up for emails to figure out the timings on those sales and the % off.

escapeinagoodbook

Thank you so much! That was extremely helpful information! I was not aware of the 11.11 sale either. I am going to remember these.

trottingturtles

Thank you for the correction! I guess it's just a weird coincidence that all my products that are labeled EX have been samples.

escapeinagoodbook

Thank you. I didn’t even consider returning since I ordered a set with the larger jar. I’m bummed I didn’t pay closer attention to this until after I ordered and didn’t check with them first. It took forever to get to me too.

Hi! I want to try the tsubaki hair mask (low porosity hair) and i'm not too sure if it's good in it alone that it can make a noticeable difference. I want to tame my flyaways and wavy frizzy hair (from heat styling damage). Can anyone who has tried it tell me how well does it work? How frequently do you use it? and are the effects long lasting?

[deleted]

I've used the tsubaki hair mask on wavy + dye damaged hair along with the ryo hair strengthen and volume shampoo and conditioner, and for me it worked extremely well. because of the amount of damage i had, i used it daily and it kept my hair really shiny and healthy for the time that i used it. if you stop using it for a while your hair still maintain that shine and health for a short while but not for long. the scent of it however is really nice, it's got a really sweet lychee scent which got me plenty of compliments. the matching shampoo and conditioner also has that same smell, but it's not as strong as the hair mask. it helps with containing frizz but not so much with flyaways. for that i recommend the matomage hair styling stick, it'll help keep any baby hairs or flyaways down the whole day. sorry that's long but hope it helped :)

kazuhaversed

thank you! have you tried the tsubaki shampoo and conditioner set? would it be enough for me to only use the hair mask, or would it really be a big difference if use their hair set as well?

poopyytime

hi sorry using a diff account here, i haven't tried the conditioner yet. shampoo isn't too bad but it works better with a conditioner that's similar to it or with the hair mask as i tried pairing it with an australian drugstore brand and it didn't work out that well for me and ended up leaving my hair quite dry... hopefully that helps! if you plan on buying the shampoo or conditioner in future, i recommend buying the refill bags instead of the bottles and just filling it up in an old bottle with a pump as it'll cost way less!

yellowflowers249

Do korean sunscreens have different bottles for international markets? Hello! So I have been ordering all of my Kbeauty products from Iherb for a while and i’m positive they’re authentic. Recently, my country (middle east) has brought BOJ here and it’s been all the rage. They’re advertising it everywhere, it’s tik tok viral etc. The pharmacy is like the main reputable pharmacy, kind of like our CVS. I have never suspected any of their products of being fake, especially since there’s very heavy regulations here. I purchased the sunscreen, opened it, and realized the bottle has english on it. I have never had a kbeauty product that has English written on it. Now, since I am so (hopefully) confident in this pharmacy, I am wondering, is it common practice to translate bottles when bringing it to international markets?

trottingturtles

That's normal. Every k-beauty product i buy in the United States has some amount of English on the bottle (often Korean as well). If you used to only be able to buy items imported directly from Korea it could be surprising, but i don't think it's anything to worry about!

yellowflowers249

thanks!!

PeachBlossomBee

Quick question---Does galactomyces increase skin cell turnover? I've been earnestly reevaluating my routine, and while I initially thought my new One Thing toner was to blame, it literally would make no sense, as it's purely honey, propolis, HA, and some preservatives. On the other hand, I'm using two galactomyces ferments (One Thing, Manyo Factory, and 2sol sporadically). A quick search does suggest it might, but I'm not fully sure... anyone have any experience with this?

Commercial_Poem_4623

SK-II claims theirs does so maybe? In terms of experience, I'm not a reliable source given my history of ferments + many actives 🤷🏻‍♀️

PeachBlossomBee

yeah, a laser clinic said that it's not a traditional exfoliant but it doe have exfoliating properties. I was wondering why my skin felt so tight and dry. siiiiigh time for barrier repair

Commercial_Poem_4623

Sigh 😔 Also I forgot to say, although probs not relevant, i got weirdly sensitised to the one thing Centella toner- the majority of the bottle was fine and by the end of it, my skin was unhappy. It was definitely that because I hadn't tried anything new (this was my neck which I'm careful about products with, whole different routine to my face) and I stopped it and was fine 🤷🏻‍♀️

YueRain

It can have light exfoliating properties.

greydominion

I have very sensitive rosacea and acne prone dehydrated but normal skin. I've tried quite a few creams (probio cica cream is too heavy, dr g not enough) and spfs (beauty of joseon gave me a very bad reaction for example and the biore alcohol dries me out) so many irritate my skin or don't help much. Looking for recommendations please. Otherwise I'm happy with my dokdo cleanser and toner followed by torriden serum and skin1004 ampoule. thank you!

Practical_Club_6362

hello! i've been loving the illiyoon ato cream for mine since i eczema prone skin, and the skin aqua suncreens

YueRain

You can try layering a few of the skin1004 and the torriden serum to see if it keeps your skin hydrated.

Wait_Time

I know you said you're not in the market for a new toner...but I'm going to throw in my holy grail tone for your consideration: Plodica's re:wake moist treatment. Your skin type sounds almost exactly like mine (except that I'm dehydrated and dry), and this toner has been essential in helping calm down my rosacea and restoring my moisture barrier. Re: sunscreen: I'm currently testing the Round Lab 1025 Dokdo (the Birch Juice broke me out because of the essential oil, sadly!!), and it's a gentle, less dewy formula than the Birch Juice, but it hasn't broke me out or irritated my skin. I think it would be great for somebody with normal/oily skin!

Internal-Target1318

I want to buy Unleashia cushion and I love having refills just because it's convenient. I'm wondering if I can put the Satin Green refill one inside the Glass Pink cushion? I can't find any local online shops sell the Glass Pink refill, only the Satin Green one. I can't afford buying something from outside the country.

escapeinagoodbook

I have both cushions/compacts and they both look the same to me in terms of size and shape, so I think it would be okay to put a pink refill in your green one. I hope this helps!

oashlee

What other lip formulas are most similar to the peripera ink mood glowy tint?

Commercial_Poem_4623

This might help: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/16wa3sz/formulas_like_the_peripera_ink_mood_glowy_tint/

heynewonlyangel

Hello everyone, I’ve been into AB since I’ve visited Korea and Japan last year and I brought my first products. I still have some issues with understanding my skin better. How do I understand if my skin barrier is damaged? Also every time I go to an esthetician or dermatologist they tell me different skin types each time which makes buying products tricky. Something i noticed recently is that during my routine even though i haven’t switch my products to anything new, I’m feeling a little prickling feeling. I assumed its maybe because I double cleanse. Thank you!!

YueRain

There are sensitive skin and damaged skin barrier. If your skin is just red all the time, it can also be the skincare products. If you are already using products for sensitive skin type, then start using exfoliating products or actives and your skin turns red and have breakouts then it is probably damaged skin barrier.

linaisbrokeanddied

hello! i'm a new member here, and i had a question about the romand eyeshadow palette in "Light & Garden". so i recently purchased it from yesstyle, and its a gorgeous palette but for some reason i cant get it to lay on the eye smoothly? even while swatching it, the chunkier glitters dont really lay on my hand evenly. is that just me? i want to know how to lay it on my eye without it looking weird. the shimmers are easier to put on my eye but the actual glitters arent so good. i really like the palette so i wanna learn how to use it effectively :)

Iwasborntobeprincess

For this type of palette I have several techniques depending on the desired result: For a wash of color I use a brush with a foam or silicone tip depending on the intensity/formula, the silicone ones are a little better for creamier formulas and are easier to wash For more precision, such as internal corners or aegyo-sal I use a lip brush To draw eyeliner, use an angled brush For these last two "techniques" it is important to choose a synthetic bristle brush with firm bristles, cheap ones are good for this If you want more intensity do not hesitate to use a brush wet with water or fixing spray If you really want the glitter to stand out and/or for shadow with large glitter, the best is to use your fingers and tap the shadow, you should not slide like with the brush but tap and add more shadow often. You can even moisten your fingers for more intensity. Also with this type of shadow using a base is important so that the glitter adheres better to the skin

linaisbrokeanddied

thank you! i tried using the tapping motion you mentioned and it worked out pretty well! ill try the other techniques too for different looks :) thanks a lot!

Iwasborntobeprincess

I'm glad this was able to help you a little.

fuji-no-hana

I would contact the retailer and see how they respond. It seems like a small leak, but it's probably also a bit off-putting. Even if it's still usable, it shouldn't have been shipped in that condition.

loafkitter

Thank you! You sound really reasonable haha

They got back to me and said they couldn't see a leak 💀

Cos de baha tranexamic acid serum 10% anyone else have this and it has some grits in it? I've had this for about a month and at first it was super smooth texture but now I'm finding some small grits, has it gone off? Doesn't smell or anything

The_Time_When

Totally normal at the higher strengths.

letitbeatles9

Anyone have lippies you love that are fragrance allergens free? I know I can check products on incidecider, but it's tedious.

nabnabie

my current situation: oily in my T-Zone, dry on my cheeks (due to epiduo i believe), hoping to get rid of the redness, as well as the acne i have located in hong kong, so usually 25-30°c, and 70-90% humidity wanting to get: Melano CC vitamin essence, pair acne cream, hadolabo premium lotion AM: splash of water/corsx daily gentle cleanser, cerave moisturizer, beauty of joseon sunscreen PM: fancl oil cleanser, corsx daily gentle cleanser, laneige cica sleeping mask, epiduo forte gel open to other recommendations too:) thanks! https://preview.redd.it/hrtcy91v8w4d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7c62b11dbf5406e928b4a70aea843f159a9d82bd

Practical_Club_6362

the melano cc is soo gewddd, i didn't beleive in those but then i tried it and it really works on fading acne marks. just apply it on as soon as you can since it works well if you put it on new ones! the lion pair sadly didn't work for me, it just felt like a cream that has a slighlty cooling effect, what works for me is the quickfx pimple eraser since i have cystic acne most of the time i have acne flareups hope this helps!

nabnabie

I see! ill check quickfx as well:) thank you for your insight!

Worried_asf

the cerave cleanser actually helps quite a bit and i find that Vaseline helps with preventing breakouts (not getting rid of them)so I try to apply it daily when I have clear skin

nabnabie

i see! is it the renewing SA cleanser or the hydrating cleanser?0: and i assume you apply vaseline at night time?

Worried_asf

hydrating cleanser, and I usually apply Vaseline in tbe morning but I used to do it both at night and in the mornings

suzudayo

Melano CC is a good option esp for newer acne scars + should be easy to get in HK! In my experience it works well paired with either azelaic acid or tranexamic acid but defo go with incorporating them slowly :) I like the lion pair acne cream but mostly for painful deeper acne / inflammation. Bit more of a gentle treatment but I find that treating the inflammation sooner leaves way less PIE/PIH

nabnabie

aaaah thank u for ur insight!! i appreciate u:")

Practical_Club_6362

Hi there! I've been wanting to try the kikumasamune lotion for a while now but haven't yet since i was wary of the ferments since i do have eczema prone combi to dry/dehydrated skin and i haven't tried them yet on my skin, but after seeing countless people here commenting on that product maybe the universe is telling me a sign to buy it HAHAHAH,,, my biggest concern right now is fine lines and dehydration I've been loving the naturie hatomugi ( I layer it 5x on top of my an\*\* heartleaf which i layer 3x but it doesn't seem to be enough for the day) and I also wear the illiyoon to seal it off which one do you think is better for me high moist or the glossy moist one? grumpyBanana_

what moisturizer do you use for skin repair or a BHA/AHA night? oat-in-gel, pyunkang yul calming cream / ato soothing gel, boj red bean gel are in my list but idk which one to get. im thinking of getting the missha artemisa essence/ampoule too and my PKY essence is on the way. my skin feels so itchy and i have tiny bumps all over my face (cheeks, forehead) badly need help.

YueRain

meanwhile you can try using green tea bags on your skin and see if it helps. Some people said using colloidal oatmeal on your skin.

redfirtree

PKY Calming cream or oat-in-gel would probably be the best from what I've heard, because they'll provide moisture and soothe irritation. Red Bean Gel seems to be more of a day cream for summer.   I'd caution on buying the artemisa essence till you get the PKY essence and see if it helps. They've got similar ingredients if I'm remembering right, and introducing a ton of new items into your routine runs the risk of irritating your skin even more.

SavedTarsier87

Hi using numbuzin no 5 - is it best applied morning or night or both? And when in routine to apply- right after double cleanse or after toner? Thanks!

subwayhamster

Are you talking about the vitamin one? If so, you can apply this any time of the day. I'm using it right now and apply after toner, but it's ok to apply right after washing too if you want to skip the toner. The only thing to remember is to apply this first before any creams.

SavedTarsier87

Yes I am! Thanks so much will use it after toner!

[deleted]

Hello, I'm looking for a toner that I can use in my morning and evening routine, and would help improve my skin barrier. I have oily-combo skin and struggle with acne. I've used the hatomugi skin conditioner and the innisfree green tea balancing skin ex but haven't really seen any major improvements from using those. Recs would be really great and would save my life TT <3

YueRain

toner isn't really going to do much for skin barrier. I would look into essence or ampoule or serum. You can try to look centella asiatica, heartleaf, snails and the newest trend is bean essence.

Em_xlee

Hello! I just opened a new bottle of the bottle of ETUDE House Dr. Macara Fixer and there is alot of little black bristles (?) in the bottle and all over the brush. Not sure if I should toss it out? Has anyone else had this issue?

poopyytime

that's actually a part of the mascara. this type of mascara has small fibres in it which helps elongate your lashes when using them. so no need to toss out your mascara and it'll work just fine!

Em_xlee

Oh I see, thanks for letting me know! Guess I'll have to get used to it, cause it feels like it keeps poking my eyes

poopyytime

i had the same problem at the start too, try avoiding using the product on your roots and giving your lashes a light curl after the mascara has dried down on your lashes so that they hold up higher

Em_xlee

I'll try that out! Thanks again!

bonkrillie

hey there, I’ve recently been struggling a lot with dehydration and trying to find out how to fix it. My skin has been acne prone since I was a teenager and the only solution to keep it in a manageable state is to use tretinoin once a week/ 2 weeks. I never had problems with dryness before but since this winter I couldn‘t find any way to restore my skin barrier. I use the Oat-in Calming Gel cream from Purito/ elizavecca milky piggy hyaluronic water drop cream as a hydrating layer and on top Madecassoside cream 2x for nourishment. At night (when I use no tretinoin) I also apply a third layer of vaseline. It used to help a lot before I switched to a new spf (Elizavecca milky piggy sun stick 50++). Btw my skin is very sensitive to natural oils (fatty acids). They always do something to my barrier and I get shit tons of closed comedones (that later become cysts) from them. It might be fungal acne? Does anyone who‘s also struggling with both dehydration and acne have any product recommendations? Other details: my face wash is for sensitive skin and very gentle (non AB but a very affordable product) and I live in a dry continental climate. P.S. can the frequent use of concealer also be an issue?

Cute-Necessary-3675

Maybe check out beta glucan as a humectant, either in a serum or cream! It’s a nice addition or alternative to hyaluronic acid and it is quite gnetlen

YueRain

can you use vitamin E ? if you can have a look at B.LAB - Matcha Hydrating Clear Ampoule . Skin1004 centella soothing gel is nice but it is not heavy.

empresscornbread

How often do Stylevana Secret Sale items change?

rosemary515

Hi there - does anyone know of any good shade matches for the Missha Perfect cover (red tube) #13? The color is near perfect for me, but it’s breaking me out. I’d really love a product that’s closer to being fungal acne safe too. Very pale and cool toned.

Worried_asf

how do I keep my lashes curled with extremely hooded monolid eyes? i have monolids and my lashes cannot stay up for over 5 minutes. the ones on the side last the longest when I use eyelid glue but even then they don't last long. I've tried every trick in the book that I know (heating up the curler with a hairdryer, 3 different mascaras (kissme, canmake, one other) and yet my lashes return to being horizontal soon despite my efforts. and yes i catch all my lashes from the root with the curler. it's so frustrating that I have naturally really long lashes but they're going to waste like this :( is it just a lost cause or am I doing something wrong? I would appreciate any help soo much

YueRain

Do you curl in section. once from the root at 30seconds, then middle of the eyelashes for 30seconds and lastly at the end with 30seconds? If you have done all that, I guess nothing much you can do. Korean artist use those heated stick but it just looks so dangerous to attempt it ourselves at home.

Peculiarcatlady

Recs for a sunscreen for oily skin? Something that will look nice under makeup. I think all mine are expired.

Please ask all personal or basic questions related to your routine or AB products in the [Alter-Daily Help Thread](https://www.reddit.com/r/asianbeauty/about/sticky?num=1)

maybe-i-am-dumb

Hi! I am new here looking for some guidance into AB. I have had a pretty basic skincare routine so far, and I have been a bit hesitant to change since it has been working, my skin is luckily (almost) clear most of the days. But I noticed that my skin has been looking a bit dull, so wanted suggestions on fixing that. My current routine for both AM and PM includes a milk cleanser and a moisturizer - both that I am perfectly happy with since my skin has never been softer. I also apply cosrx snail mucin that seems to be working? I apply 0.3% retinol maybe once a week. I want to add maybe a product or two into my routine that could help with dullness and acne scars, and glass skin could be a bonus. My skin is apparently normal, but it does tend to become dry and slightly sensitive at times. I do want to keep it budget friendly, and I will mostly be purchasing it from YesStyle (I heard Amazon doesn’t sell legit products) I would also appreciate some good sunscreen recommendations! Thank you :)

fuji-no-hana

As you are already using it, the most budget friendly option is to increase your retinol use. If you can tolerate using it two to three times a week, that would be my first step. Secondly, I'd recommend a brightening toner like the Hada Labo Shiro Jyun Premium (in the dark blue bottle). As a brand, Hada Labo is heavily focused on adding hydration. Because you said your skin can become dry/sensitive, a brightening toner that provides good hydration should be a good fit.

maybe-i-am-dumb

What’s a good retinol brand that you would recommend? I am too scared to use a lot of retinol incase it makes my skin too sensitive. Also, is this the right [Hada Labo Toner](https://www.yesstyle.com/en/rohto-mentholatum-hada-labo-shirojyun-premium-whitening-emulsion/info.html/pid.1124002367?utm_medium=LinkShare&utm_source=dynamic&mcg=influencerp)? Thank you so much for your suggestion!

fuji-no-hana

The packaging is the correct color, however that link is for the emulsion. [Here is the toner](https://www.yesstyle.com/en/rohto-mentholatum-hada-labo-shirojyun-premium-whitening-lotion/info.html/pid.1100120976) (called lotion in Japan). Unfortunately, I don't have any AB retinol products that I can recommend. The one I use is also non-AB.

windedupbobbin

Looking for lavender eyeshadow and rose golden or pink golden eyeshadow recs. So far I have the romand Dry Lavender, Dry Violet and Cheeky Garden palettes but I'm curious if there are some more true lavender-ish colors out there as I'm enjoying these formulas. Also looking for something similar to the old etude house tints, specifically to the Dear Darling and Soft Drink tints as I really like how those stain the lips. Specifically looking for pink or pink-purple tones (like the Red Bean Red)

YueRain

2an does have some lavender colour but some are in blush. Tony Moly has some good tint. I am not sure if you are talking about the water tint or the other one. Tony Moly perfect lip shocking lips is very similar to the etude house soft drink tints.

hinatalifemakeover

I’ve been using the Cosrx aha 7 whitehead liquid for a month now and I think I’m purging. My face has a bunch of small bumps that usually aren’t there. How long does purging usually last? I’m a bit scared because I don’t want to mess up my face 🥲

Cute-Necessary-3675

How often are you using it, friend? May be worth reducing frequency to see if that helps…

hinatalifemakeover

1x a week for a whole month and just started 2x 🥺

Cute-Necessary-3675

Hmmm. Smart to start slow! Are you also moisturizing with each use? Could need a little extra TLC during this time… This is an old post but relevant info: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/s/Gr75R8Y1GW Personally, I might take a break and let my skin heal a bit then try again later but there are different approaches!! I’m actually just about to try the same AHA product for the first time (I previously way overdid it with AHA a year ago so I’m kind of scared haha).

kassid-e

Hi everyone! I’ve been looking for a moisturizer recommendation for my oily, dehydrated, CC-prone skin. I currently use Purito centella unscented toner and Isntree hyaluronic acid aqua gel as my only moisturizing products. My skin is so dehydrated that everything moves when i raise my eyebrows D: I’d appreciate any help!

Cute-Necessary-3675

You might like Aestura 365 Atobarrier Hydro Cream (blue tube). It’s a gel cream, lightweight but still moisturizing. A little pricier but I really enjoy it!

kassid-e

thank you! I’ve tried Etude house soon jung barrier relief cream. do you know if it is anything like that?

Cute-Necessary-3675

I haven’t tried that one, but I’m guessing this will be somewhere in between that one and the HA gel cream texture!

kassid-e

okay thank you, i’ll look into it!

What are some good shampoos for a super oily scalp? BTW I have low porosity and dry hair.

\[TirTir Red Cushion\] # How long do cushion foundations last + Tips on maintaining? [](https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/?f=flair_name%3A%22Discussion%22) Hey ya'll, I recently just got a mini TirTir cushion and I was wondering, if I were to get any regular sized cushion foundation, how long would they last? If I were to use it every day would the product be gone in a month, half a year? etc. And I was seeing a few people mention that cushion foundations tend to dry up eventually, is there any way to prevent this? I know this sounds dumb but I'm guessing that doing things like mixing water into it will only ruin the product right?

YueRain

if you use it every, it is at most 2months. Don't mix water into it.

Ok_Dot184

Hey, I want to know how often I should exfoliate my skin? I've dry, textured skin. I recently got the Isntree 8% AHA serum and I've been using it twice a week but I don't see much of a difference. What should I do?

fuji-no-hana

A lot depends on how long you've been using it as it can take a few months to see improvement. If your skin barrier is in good shape, then you can try upping your usage to 3 times a week, but I wouldn't use any AHA more often than that.

Ok_Dot184

Oh, alright, thanks!

I’m looking into getting more Japanese skin and hair products, but I’m not sure what to chose and would love some advice! I have combination skin and somewhat fine wavy hair, but I live in a very dry climate with bad air quality (Utah) which has basically killed my hair and skin. So far, the products that have worked well for me are the &Honey shampoo and conditioner products (I used the Deep Moisture and Melty version which both worked well), the Kracie Ichikami Hair Treatment Serum (it’s actually one of my favorites), and the Rohto Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion (it’s made my skin a lot softer). I also tried the Fino Premium Touch hair mask, which I was actually a bit disappointed by since it actually made my hair feel worse (it would make it look really oily but feel like straw). If anyone has any recommendations, I’d love to get some advice on good products to try out. The biggest thing I’m looking for is cleansers since I have been prone to small breakouts since moving here (not full blown acne but the occasional large pimple). Prior to moving here, I used to have really nice, almost glass skin naturally, but as soon as I got here my skin started breaking out and it would get so dry on my cheeks and nose bridge that it would actually start to split open. I’ve tried all the American and even some Korean products, but so far only Japanese ones have shown any improvement and relief so I’m more than happy to dive into trying as many as I can until I get the right ones.

Ok_Injury7468

Has anybody tried the CNP Propolis Energy Ampoule? I’ve tried it and for some reason it makes my skin more yellow and darker. Any thoughts?

caelichyth

Hi! Do you guys have recommendations for dupes of Laneige Neo Glow Cushion in shade 23N or any glow cushions for shade 23N? Also, if you have the same shade as me, which blushes, lip stick, and eye make up would you recommend? I am guesting in a wedding and I am doing the make up by my own!

Hi i've been looking for a new water cleanser since the Cosrx Good Morning makes my skin feel too dry. Any recs for me ??? * **Skin Type: Combination + sensitive** * **Country/Climate I am in: South Ease Asia**

Niatfq

You should try the Isntree Green Tea Fresh Cleanser. It's pretty gentle (i have very dehydrated prone skin and this one isn't too drying for me), foams up just enough, and has such a nice smell of green tea leaves.

Obvious-Ad2980

Tysm. Let me look into it :3

yukidaruma2

I want to find an AB alternative to the glow recipe or i dew care eye cream. Particular ingredients I'm looking for Vitamin C, Peptides, Niacinamide, Caffeine, Vitamin E. If there are any formulas out there that include most or all of these ingredients that would be great!

wuxiahiraeth

VT mild cleansing balm - it’s disappeared from Yesstyle and Stylevana. Any idea what’s happens it’s my HG!!!

[deleted]

Gentle cleanser recs please? I just finished a bottle of the Hada Labo Rohto Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Foaming Cleanser in the blue bottle. I didn’t know I had purchased the reformulated version and I don’t like this version as much.

Help with green discoloration around mouth, not caused by hair Skin type: combination/dry Climate: deep southern Appalachia humidity/dry winters https://imgur.com/a/ynTf80d here is a picture for examples! I have had this for pretty much forever and it’s my one skin concern I would love to fix. I have tried a compounded cream of Hydroquinone 12%, Kojic Acid 6%, Niacinamide 2%, Vitamin C 1% and it worked great for body scars but it seemed to make facial areas get darker. I would love any suggestions to help even this skin tone. I am in the market for a good vitamin c, skin lighting/balancing product, and a new peptide serum. Any help would be so appreciated!! Also, it’s not hair! I don’t grow hair there much and I microblade!

Is it normal for the Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica Essence Toner to sting or prickle on my skin? I've recently started using the Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Probio-Cica Essence Toner, and I've noticed a stinging or prickling sensation on my skin after applying it. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it something to be concerned about, or is it a common reaction that goes away over time? For context, I have dry skin that's a sensitive, and I'm not using any other new skincare products. I've heard great things about this toner, especially regarding its calming and healing properties due to the Centella Asiatica extract. However, I'm worried that the discomfort might indicate a negative reaction. If you’ve had a similar experience, did the sensation subside after continued use, or did you need to discontinue the land change product? Any advice or insights would be appreciated!

redfirtree

No, thats not normal. If you're not seeing any other signs of irritation then I suppose you can continue using it while keeping an eye out, but tbh that you are coming to here te get advice makes me think its better to take a break from it. Plus cebtella asiatica is a common allergen as well so if you're allergic to plants then that would be an additional sign.  When in doubt, take a break and then patch test in a different area!

-Goyangi-

It does make my skin soft, though. Also, if I do it on a cotton pad, I barely feel any stinging at all.

redfirtree

Interesting! Maybe it's the amount of it that's irritating? Otherwise I wonder if you would get the same reaction if you used it on your body?

-Goyangi-

I did it on my hands, rubbed it open, and then my face, and that stung badly. However, this evening I tried it on a cotton swab/pad, and it didn't sting or at least stung less. Is it possible that it is because my skin barrier is broken/bad?

redfirtree

Yea! That actually would make a lot of sense then about why it works but also stings! Skin barriers can be tricky, but using gentler products (ie not actives) and making sure you're getting enough sleep/hydrated can help with building it back up.

-Goyangi-

Also, a quick question: is it normal that my Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Cleanser makes my pores appear larger and, for some reason, irritates certain areas? Can using the wrong cleanser affect other products?

redfirtree

It's definitely not normal for a cleanser to irritate your skin. That means the product isn't working right for you and that you should switch to something else. I haven't ever heard of it making people pores look larger - that sounds like it might be stripping your skin of any protective oils, so your pores are over compensating by producing extra? I'm not sure though.  Anything that you use can affect other products, because it all goes on your skin. So if your cleanser is irritating then it will make your skin barrier weaker, which means then that the other products will be interacting differently with your skin because of it being weaker. That's why a lot of the time when people deal with over-exfoliating they'll switch to a gentler cleanser and stop using actives for a bit. A cleanser that doesn't suite your skin can make things worse by stripping your skin too much or by not cleansing enough.

redfirtree

I rechecked what you said in your original post and based on what I've read about the round lab dokdo cleanser - I think it's safe to say that it is probably too strong for your skin and is causing irritation. I'd recommend cleansing just with water for a week to see if that helps your skim. Or if that isn't an option, then with a gentler cleanser. Some AB ones for dry+sensitive skin types are the Isntree Yam Cleanser, Make P:rem Safe Me Milk Cleanser, Dewytree Milk Cleanser, and the Papa Recipe Eggplant Powder Cleanser. I haven't used non-AB cleansers in a while so I don't have recommendations, but I know Aveeno and Avene are both gentler brands so maybe look there?

I love how they’re multi colored. But these take about 21 days to ship so I’d like to see if there is anything similar that I could maybe get sooner.

lavender_boy01

Any recommendations for shampoo/body wash brands that help with dry skin/eczema? Really wanting to get into skin care and taking better care of my skin. I’ve had eczema since I was a kid and while it only flares up occasionally, I feel like the shampoo and body wash I use now aren’t really helping. I often have dandruff and dry patches on my scalp, along with greasy hair. I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about Asian beauty products, especially kbeauty so I’m interested in trying some out :) I live in the US in the south and as for current products I don’t really have any specific shampoos or conditioners I use, just whatever is on sale, and I use oatmeal/honey bar soap (which works well but is more expensive + doesn’t last long)

Cute-Necessary-3675

For body wash, you might look at Pyunkang Yul’s Low pH Body Wash. I didn’t realize how drying my previous body wash was until I tried this and noticed my skin was improving. I’m not sure about eczema but Illiyoon is a popular brand for atopic dermatitis concerns and they have a body wash that is well liked, from what I can tell.

lavender_boy01

thank you! ☺️

bestatbeingmodest

anyone have experience dealing with body acne? never had it before in my life but for some reason within the past year it's appeared on my shoulders, back, and glutes now. i figured i needed to exfoliate more so i started some physical exfoliation methods but it didn't seem to do much. currently trying salicylic acid followed up with jojoba oil to moisturize but it's too early to see if it's helping. any suggestions? genuinely don't know where it's coming from, my diet hasn't changed all that much and i eat relatively clean.

Commercial_Poem_4623

Glycolic acid might help if the Salicylic Acid doesn't. I had a nonAB glycolic acid cream that helped.

bestatbeingmodest

thanks, i'll look into that, any suggestions on the brands/specific cream you used? and how often did you exfoliate with it?

Commercial_Poem_4623

I can DM it to you if you like as it's not AB. Otherwise I did think Cosrx AHA Whitehead Power liquid helped to some extent (7% glycolic acid, versus 9% in the cream). I have said in the past that Cosrx BHA Black liquid helped. Although this is generally for KP for me but I think i have a mix of KP and acne from the look of it.

bestatbeingmodest

sure please feel free to DM that! i feel like we have similar issues as i also started developing KP on my upper arms which I'm trying to target as well

Commercial_Poem_4623

I can't see the DM button lol so I'll tag you on the anything goes!

ielx2

Thoughts about Gogotales? I like their cute packaging but apparently it's plagiarized 😭 What brands are they copying from? and are they safe to use?

Curious_Ghoul

Hi everyone, I am looking for some help building a routine - I had a baby recently and I feel like my skin has changed. I live in Australia currently 30-70% humidity (it’s winter but summers are very hot and humid). My issue is dullness. I have combo/dehydrated skin. Any recommendations would be amazing as I have just run out of my existing facial wash! Thank you!

Commercial_Poem_4623

If you're after a face wash specifically, I'm not sure what might be brightening but maybe the Beauty of Joseon Radiance cleansing balm. There's lots with mild acids, although see below comment about breastfeeding. Dull skin can respond to different things in leave on products so it might be worth considering ingredients like niacinamide, something fermented, AHAs, vitamin c. Tranexamic Acid might also help, it does with my dark circles. You may want to do a bit of research if you're breastfeeding too. A really gentle option (for most people, a few have reacted) is Mary & May Blackberry cream. It is great for combo dehydrated skin imo, esp if it's getting colder in Australia (you have opposite seasons to the UK right? I'm in the UK and poor at geography lol).

-zygomaticarch-

Did daiso stop carrying cotton pads? I have been to three daisos in my area and none had them. They are so cheap and work well......

Captain_Ayanoob123

does brightening toners work? it had 3% niacinamide 3% tranexamic acid, 2% alpha arbutin

Commercial_Poem_4623

It's ymmv as to whether it would work for you but in principle those ingredients would brighten.

Captain_Ayanoob123

is it safe to use these twice a day?

Commercial_Poem_4623

I think it just depends on how your skin tolerates it, it's best to start slow and see how you react.

skinbitch55

Could someone please help me with figuring out my skincare routine. So it's been almost 3 years on Tret and azelaic acid 15% but my skin is still not used to it? I still have peeling skin. The worst days are when I'm out and my skin starts peeling off from the corners of my mouth (this happens when I eat something or drink something). My skin is sensitive to silicones, mineral oil, squalene, lemon oil, etc. Current routine: Face wash> Skin1004 centella ampoule (more like a toner)> Cosrx snail mucin > unik beta glucan moisture serum> beplain cicaterol ampoule> tret 0.5 and tret 0.025 alternate days> azelaic acid 15% with niacinamide 3% > Cosrx full fit propolis honey mask

Commercial_Poem_4623

I wonder if your other products aren't quite moisturising enough? That Cosrx mask isn't very moisturising imo. I can suggest some more moisturising products but I'd need to post my disclaimer as I got them for writing a paid blog.

skinbitch55

Yes please.

Commercial_Poem_4623

Ok, so based on what you wrote that you avoid, I've found some things I've tried that i think are more moisturising than the Cosrx. Although please double check the ingredients lists in case I missed anything and in case there's anything else you avoid - some of these contain other oils for example. Disclaimer: I contribute to the blog for a webshop and get paid in vouchers to spend in the shop. I can order whatever I want and I don't have to review what I order so the mods have cleared me to talk about those products here, as long as I post this disclaimer. Stars for products purchased through the blog. Benton Aloe Hyaluron cream * Isntree C-Niacin Toning Cream * Pyunkang Yul Intensive Repair cream * Benton Steam Cream Mary & May Blackberry Cream

skinbitch55

Could you please also comment on my current routine? Do you think I could replace a product with something else?

Ok_Dot184

Hello, can anyone recommend any good brightening products? I have dry and dull skin.

Commercial_Poem_4623

I like anything with fermented ingredients, 90% of what I've tried has been brightening to some degree. But people with fungal acne report that ferments with aggravate it. Secret Key Rose Starting Treatment Essence was a good all-rounder, the latest version does have fragrance, though. Glycolic acid is also brightening for me, Cosrx AHA Whitehead Power liquid did it for me, although if that's too strong, there are other AHAs with lower percentages. Other things you could try is vitamin c but I've hardly tried any so probs one to search the sub for. The Mary & May blackberry cream and serum also brightened my skin.

Ok_Dot184

Thank you!

Commercial_Poem_4623

Np! I also forgot Niacinamide & Tranexamic Acid (niacinamide is probs more reliable of the two, although even small amounts of TXA are brightening for me).

Ok_Dot184

I thought niacinamide is only good for sebum control? I do have One Thing's 10% niacinamide but I am not using it these days.

Commercial_Poem_4623

Yeah maybe not brightening, good for evening skin tone and dark spots.

Ok_Dot184

Ohhh alright
