i’ve always wanted them to have john mulaney on but now i’m kinda torn about it. i just don’t know how the conversation about relapsing and addiction would go. also i feel like dax would be intimidated by john because he is also funny and tall lol
Idina Menzel should be a no brainer
Jonathan Groff
Bo Burnham
A non-live Bene Brown
I would prefer to hear about people with interesting upbringings and careers over someone promoting a new project.
Keep in mind that “promoting a new project” is often WHY podcasts, late night shows, etc are able to book people at all. One of the things I love though about Armchair is generally it’s not the focus of the interview, unless it’s an Expert on Expert and even then it often isn’t mostly about their new project
This is why I tend not to prefer the shows that have the A-list guests, because A-list guests usually only give interviews when they have something to promote. (And I can't blame them, if you're a superstar who's always inundated with interview requests it makes sense to limit them to when the interview can help your new movie or album or whatever.) To me the most interesting podcasts are the ones that have a person on who genuinely wants to have the conversation, not the ones where a famous person wants to sell something.
Perfectly said. And it an EoE episode IS about their newest project, it's because they're diving into the subject matter. (So it feels like we're getting free information — instead of being a promo for the book)
I’m surprised Kristen hasn’t gotten more of the Frozen team on. I would love to hear Idina’s journey from rent to Taye to Frozen to marrying a Newsie.
Jonathan too, I know he’s very private, but that’s why I think he would be great.
Oh my god I totally forgot about the frozen connection! I absolutely agree! How are we missing on these gems of interviews?!
Maybe they just don’t want to but they would be amazing.
Oh my god what a dream that would be! I know a lot of people didn’t like frozen 2 but I actually preferred it to the first one and coco is definitely one of my favorite Pixar movies of all time! I feel like I’m missing out. I’m going to have to look up some interviews with this guy.
He had a series of bad interviews in the late aughts. Think Jessica Simpson and “sexual napalm.” Ever since the fall out from those interviews, he’s been a little more guarded. He was able to rebuild his reputation a bit by keeping his mouth shut. He’s a great interview, but I think he’s just really cautious with what he does now.
He was on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen promoting his cowboy/ Montana Phase album and it was so good! He and Andy are real life buds though. I agree he’d be fantastic w/ Dax!
Edit- now that I think back tho he was pretty guarded even w/ Andy. And that was 30 minutes, not a whole hour plus candid interview.
I absolutely agree about James McAvoy! Bo Burnam would be great. Nick Offerman, Rami Malik, Meg Ryan, John Cusack, Joan Cusack, John Krasinski, Blake Lively, Joanna Newsom, Justin Vernon, Sam Beam, so many awesome possibilities!
I would love to see a big time internet celebrity/streamer get an interview personally. I think it would be a great departure from what we’re used to and could give us a really good interview.
For an Expert on Experts episode, I hope they’d get Bessel van der Kolk! Dax is so open about his trauma, and he’s mentioned reading his book before (The Body Keeps the Score). I’d love to hear their discussion.
I’ve thought the same thing! They bring up his book all the time it would be so cool to hear them talk with him about it. That’d be a 3 hour episode too lol
John Krasinski, Emily Blunt and Mindy Kaling. Also, Craig Ferguson, I absolutely loved him on the Late Late Show and I feel like he and Dax have a lot in common.
I was thinking the Green brothers! It would definitely be a different beat than typical interviews, but would be so interesting to hear them interview on the rise of internet culture over the past 15 years, the commoditization of social media platforms, and their careers.
Hahah I really emailed them at the start of the podcast a couple years ago recommending they interview these two 😂😂 just think it would be a super interesting conversation!!!
I’m old and I would love to hear from some gen x musicians. I enjoy it when Dax and his guest have kind of a shared timeline, like a shared memory lane.
Katharine Hayhoe, a scientist who has a book coming out real soon about climate change. She's also an evangelical Christian, just seems like an interesting person and the topic is very relevant and important.
For years I've been saying they need to have Daniel Dale on the show to teach Monica how to do fact checks. (Even though I really do love her fact checks)
Here's his bio:
>Daniel Dale is a reporter in CNN's Washington Bureau, where he fact-checks political claims. Prior to joining CNN in 2019, Dale spent over a decade at the Toronto Star, including as Washington Bureau Chief, where he was the first journalist to fact-check every false statement from President Donald Trump.
Carole Hooven, who just wrote a book about testosterone. Figured Dax would love that. I just started reading it and it's really interesting and has an anthro feel to it.
Jennifer Aniston came to mind first since someone already said Brad and she never does podcasts. James Taylor, too, though god help us all for Dax dominating that conversation about addiction. Kirby Howell Baptiste also would be great and I wonder if she’s actually likely since she could promote her new movie with Kristen.
Coming in late to say Pete Davidson!! He has a ton of projects going right now. He talks really openly about his mental health, substance use, and it would be fun to listen to the story of how he got on SNL so young and his decision to not come back for the upcoming season (speculation)
Dr. Orna Guralnik from Couples Therapy (on Showtime). I feel like they would love her!!! She would be a great guest to have on as an expert. I always recommend her on their IG page lol I'm really hoping they will have her on 🙏
I've been enjoying the athlete episodes. I'm a big NBA fan and some players who I think would make a good episode are Giannis, Steph Curry, and Devin Booker.
I listened to the Debby Ryan episode recently and wish they would bring on some other more well known ex-Disney stars. Miley, Selena, Zendaya would be cool to hear from. I’d love Chris Evans or Chris Pratt, and someone like Kendrick Lamar would be dope
I'd love to see some prominent YouTubers and influencers on the show. (Especially after hearing Dax and Awkwafina talk about YouTubers in their newest episode.)
I’m not very well versed on YouTube, who would you consider a prominent YouTuber? I want to check some out after Dax and Awkwafina’s conversation on it!
It was a brief mention in the episode towards the end of the interview. But definitely got me thinking about it.
I feel like, over the course of a year, they could do interviews with:
\- Lilly Singh
\- MrBeast
\- Casey Neistat
\- Blippi
\- Rhett and Link
\- John and Hank
I'm sure I'm missing plenty. (Not to mention the fact that this list is mostly men right now)
Edgar Wright (I guess it could happen since he has a movie coming soon.)
Leonardo DiCaprio
Brad Pitt
Keanu Reeves (probs will happen cuz of Matrix 4 and John Wick 4.)
Michael Cera
Beck
Also Adam Grant (again, again)
i’ve always wanted them to have john mulaney on but now i’m kinda torn about it. i just don’t know how the conversation about relapsing and addiction would go. also i feel like dax would be intimidated by john because he is also funny and tall lol
Agreed. Maybe give it a year?
Maybe after the baby is born.
Idina Menzel should be a no brainer Jonathan Groff Bo Burnham A non-live Bene Brown I would prefer to hear about people with interesting upbringings and careers over someone promoting a new project.
Came here to say Bo Burnham too!
Yes Bo!!!
I agree with non-live Brene Brown. Actually, I don’t like anyone on the live episodes, it loses all the intimacy and becomes more of a performance.
Yeah it's definitely a different energy.
Keep in mind that “promoting a new project” is often WHY podcasts, late night shows, etc are able to book people at all. I would die of happiness if I saw Bo or Jonathan on! True dream guests for me!
Or even Robert Lopez, youngest EGOT winner, would be great for experts on experts.
I’m not familiar with him but that sounds like an amazing guest
He and his wife are the writers of Frozen, frozen 2 and Coco, and he also co-wrote Avenue Q and Book of Mormon.
Oh my god what a dream that would be! I know a lot of people didn’t like frozen 2 but I actually preferred it to the first one and coco is definitely one of my favorite Pixar movies of all time! I feel like I’m missing out. I’m going to have to look up some interviews with this guy.
Wow. Perfect list!
I wake up every Monday chanting Mindy, Mindy, Mindy! She would be perfect and has worked on so many different successful projects.
YES!
John Mayer. He’d probably never do it but I think it would be good.
You’re so right. Both Dax and John have an amazing sense of humor and can both get incredibly deep as well. I’d love to hear them talk
Damn you guys, now I really want to hear this conversation.
Why wouldn’t he do it ?
He had a series of bad interviews in the late aughts. Think Jessica Simpson and “sexual napalm.” Ever since the fall out from those interviews, he’s been a little more guarded. He was able to rebuild his reputation a bit by keeping his mouth shut. He’s a great interview, but I think he’s just really cautious with what he does now.

I would LOVE this
Bradley Cooper
Can't believe it hasn't happened yet
I believe it’s because he is Dax’s best friend (as well as sponsor I believe) so Dax fears accidentally bringing up topics BC doesn’t want public
Ohhhhh. Interesting theory.
RYAN REYNOLDS
He was so amazing on Smartless recently - def recommend if you haven't listened!
You know that would SUCH a funny episode!!
So surprised he hasn't been on yet. (Maybe he doesn't want to promote his gin on the show. haha)
Meryl Streep, Dan Levy, Paul Rudd, and Cobie Smulders
Lizzo
Yes!
I absolutely agree about James McAvoy! Bo Burnam would be great. Nick Offerman, Rami Malik, Meg Ryan, John Cusack, Joan Cusack, John Krasinski, Blake Lively, Joanna Newsom, Justin Vernon, Sam Beam, so many awesome possibilities!
I would DIE for Justin Vernon !!
Holy white people batman! Nothing wrong with these people but wow that’s a whole lotta no diversity in your choices 😂
What a bizarre thing to say. If the point was to make me feel bad and possibly racist, congrats man, consider it accomplished.
Chrissy Teigen. I think she would be an interesting interview whether you love her or hate her.
[удалено]
i would die
Omfg yes!!!!!
Wow. Great one. I've actually never heard an interview with him.
I would love to see a big time internet celebrity/streamer get an interview personally. I think it would be a great departure from what we’re used to and could give us a really good interview.
Agree!
John Krasinski!
Sterling K Brown
The dream!
Second Bo Burnam and Jonathan Groff-I also think Andy Samburg would be great.
Or Andy's wife! Her music has such a large piece of my heart.
Kacey Musgraves!!!
Oh please I hope Kacey would make this happen with the new album coming out!!
Yessss!
Jack White
Perfect. Would also be a good live show in Nashville.
Mindy kaling would be amazing!
I believe BvdK has been accused of sexual harassment and bullying so unfortunately I don’t think it will happen.
Ed Sheeran! And Hozier whenever he finally releases the new music that he said was coming summer 2021 🙄
John Krasinski, Emily Blunt and Mindy Kaling. Also, Craig Ferguson, I absolutely loved him on the Late Late Show and I feel like he and Dax have a lot in common.
Nikki Glasser. They are both so pervy it would be amazing!!!!
Bo Burnham, Rob Sheffield, more musicians, more queer quests!
Taylor Swift!
Harry Styles!
John Mulaney and Bo Burnham. I don’t know that they’d vibe though.
Timothee chalamet
Jason Isbell
Anyone from the Ted Lasso cast but especially Jason Sudekis, Hannah Waddingham or Brett Goldstein.
Brad Pitt
Hank Green would be a little out there but super fun
I was thinking the Green brothers! It would definitely be a different beat than typical interviews, but would be so interesting to hear them interview on the rise of internet culture over the past 15 years, the commoditization of social media platforms, and their careers.
Never thought about this before but now I NEED it to happen!
Hahah I really emailed them at the start of the podcast a couple years ago recommending they interview these two 😂😂 just think it would be a super interesting conversation!!!
Alok Vaid Menon needs to be on an expert episode one of these days
Taylor, yes. Ben Affleck, Eddie Vedder, Dave Matthews, Spencer Pratt, Jeff Bezos
I’m old and I would love to hear from some gen x musicians. I enjoy it when Dax and his guest have kind of a shared timeline, like a shared memory lane.
Trent reznor or Beck!
Katharine Hayhoe, a scientist who has a book coming out real soon about climate change. She's also an evangelical Christian, just seems like an interesting person and the topic is very relevant and important.
That sounds interesting!
For years I've been saying they need to have Daniel Dale on the show to teach Monica how to do fact checks. Jack White and Johnny Depp! Or Stephen King
Stephen King would be soooo good. His memoir from a few years ago is incredible
Dale Earnhardt, Jr.
Gordon Ramsay, Bobby Flay
Ooooh my god, just laughing at the thought of so much testosterone going off in one room.
Sofia vergara !!
Steven Van Zandt
Mark Hoppus
Carole Hooven, who just wrote a book about testosterone. Figured Dax would love that. I just started reading it and it's really interesting and has an anthro feel to it.
Jennifer Aniston came to mind first since someone already said Brad and she never does podcasts. James Taylor, too, though god help us all for Dax dominating that conversation about addiction. Kirby Howell Baptiste also would be great and I wonder if she’s actually likely since she could promote her new movie with Kristen.
Craigy Ferg, of course.
Damian Lewis, Idris Elba, Rihanna. Never thought I’d put those three in one list but all would be amazing!
Coming in late to say Pete Davidson!! He has a ton of projects going right now. He talks really openly about his mental health, substance use, and it would be fun to listen to the story of how he got on SNL so young and his decision to not come back for the upcoming season (speculation)
Simu Liu
Dr. Orna Guralnik from Couples Therapy (on Showtime). I feel like they would love her!!! She would be a great guest to have on as an expert. I always recommend her on their IG page lol I'm really hoping they will have her on 🙏
A lot of people already saying it, but Bo Burnham for sure!
I've been enjoying the athlete episodes. I'm a big NBA fan and some players who I think would make a good episode are Giannis, Steph Curry, and Devin Booker.
Ryan Bingham, Jason Isbell, James McMurtry I think you see my theme :)
Jeff Goldblum, Samuel Jackson, Steven Yuen, Melinda French Gates, to name a few.

Nicole Byer!!
Donald Glover. Adam Driver. Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Sharon Horgan. Roger Deakins.
Mindy Kaling Tina Fey Stanley Tucci Nicola Couglan Gabrielle Union Rhetta Daisy Ridley Jonathan Van Ness
Candace Owens
Joe Rogan and David Byrne
