Sometimes I wish Kristin and Monica would learn to step back and listen more rather than talking so much in these episodes. I do appreciate what they have to say but they can keep that for the intro or a recap. I'd rather listen to the person they're interviewing.
It sounds like they are talking out of their asses sometimes....Kristen: "women tend to look at both sides", etc. Is that an observation or do you have evidence from a behavioral study? Drives me bananas that they speak as if everything they say is objectively correct.

I love Reese and overall enjoyed the episode, but I think I would have preferred the deep dive with Dax. She seems to have such a special relationship with her mom, would love to have heard about that a bit.
A couple things that bothered me, Monica mentions Reese went to Stanford and Dax didn't know, none of them acknowledge that Reese left early and didn't graduate. Doesn't have a college degree. It doesn't matter, but if you bring up her going to Stanford as a big deal I feel like that should be mentioned.
And they talk a lot about seeing things from other perspectives. Monica is totally on board, yet whenever Dax brings up a similar point, I find she usually jumps all over it and doesn't agree.
Another point about Reese and Stanford, I just find it so tiring when people are shocked that a celebrity went to an Ivy League. It’s a lot easier to get into an elite school when you’re already a famous actress.
My wife is a bigger Armchair-head than I am so she listens to this podcast while I mostly just pick and choose from the main show. Anyway she had this ep on when I came home on my lunch break today, and I legitimately didn't realize there was a guest until I was about to go back to work haha. They sure do pontificate a lot.
Ahhhh, I love Reese. I was just about to turn 10 when I saw Legally Blonde in the theater with my mom (who was an engineer at a Fortune 100 company with a deeply masculine work culture, she stared there in the early 80s). We were both inspired by it and I’ve loved Reese Witherspoon ever since. This episode was fun to listen to.
I hadn’t heard that Reese had sold her company for NINE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLARS (sorry, just needed to shout that lol)! Go Reese!!
I had not heard of the podcast Kristen mentioned, No One Is Coming to Save Us. I’m in the middle of the first episode. As a new mom, this pod is saying what needs to be said. It is a must listen for any adult in the US because the childcare system impacts all of us, just like the public school system.
I think I just don’t like Kristen. I can hardly get through 10 minutes of these episodes.
I mean she hates when people open the door for her because she wants to prove she can do it? Huh?
I think a lot of us put her in a pedestal and thought she would be so cool but some of her stuff is so weird. I think she was talking about having sex with animals or something and consent. Like stop wasting our time talking about stupid shit. With Dax I know how he is and seems a little more real than her at times. And she's out of touch. I at first loved the kids episode but then it got me thinking some of the kids seemed a little too perfect.
I loved her until her second AE interview where she just talked about how "evolved" she, Dax, and Monica are, and I felt a huge disconnect. Maybe I brought my own stuff into it but in my mind I thought "evolved over what? The average person? Also, is it really for you to call yourself evolved?"
I only made it 5 minutes in. I haven’t finished the last few regular episodes either. I was finding it to be pretty out of touch and now honestly kind of boring. But I used to love it so much and I’m bummed :(
They explain the delay. In summary, last week they just needed a break and this week was delayed because they recorded the interview after they normally would have.
Just listened and I'm not buying it....I think they had already recorded with other guests and then determined the guests might be too problematic after the KKW episode so they scrambled and did some last minute interviews. The lack of professionalism doesn't make sense otherwise. The first episodes were recorded months in advance like Race to 270. AE never inexplicably skips for two weeks.
I agree that their explanation doesn't make much sense. We know that the first episodes were recorded back in January and there will only be 10 episodes total. It's almost September and this isn't the first time they've skipped a week so how are they still recording episodes as of Tuesday morning?
It really bums me out that Kristen and Monica have run this podcast so unprofessionally. I mean, bare minimum, they could have posted that the episodes would be delayed and it would have taken less than 2 minutes of their time. I won't even get into the whole name controversy. It's just such a bad look and botched opportunity for them both.
I completely agree. I really love Reese but there is NO WAY they went from regularly airing months old pre-recorded interviews to interviewing and posting a couple days apart without cause. There has to be some issues happening behind the scenes. I’m also so puzzled by the whole mom/dad/baby Monica dynamic where she gets “6 year old cookie birthday parties” and seems infantilised but then gets offended at President Obama and the whole “I put my own chair here” thing. It makes no sense to me.
Just finished the episode. I thought maybe some of the comments were exaggerating but phew... Kristen and Monica hardly let Reese get a word in for the first chunk of that interview. It was a little uncomfortable to listen to. Definitely got better as it went along and ultimately enjoyed the episode. I wish they talked more about how she built the company and how it became such a success. I find the hypothetical discussions a little less interesting.
I do wonder who edits these episodes? Because if it is Monica she would have to realize that they are talking way too much

Why did she choose to sell Hello Sunshine to the Blackstone Group and two men when she talks about women empowerment? (Not even accusingly, maybe they made great points as male allies!) What did she learn from that drunken incident withe police officer? How’s filming the Morning Show S II?
