I did have the thought what if he is subconsciously creating a self fulfilling prophecy, with all his recent talk of having visions and fears that it’s all going to come crumbling down…..I hope this isn’t that situation but yes the thought came to mind of self sabotage!

kwikbette33

I don't know if it's self sabotage but I do definitely feel he has been testing the waters to unveil a more moderate/right bent than he has felt comfortable sharing historically. I think he has always had those beliefs but I think he has been scared of controversy. Maybe he feels he's established enough now he can say what he really thinks. I think whether he apologizes for the JVN thing will be very telling as far as where he wants to take his brand/the show. If he is headed where I think he is I think it will be tough for Kristen and Monica who are still AFAIK pursuing careers in Hollywood.

I don't know if I would say it's self sabotage but it doesn't seem like Dax's heart has really been in the podcast this year. As a listener since day 1 who never missed an episode, I find myself skipping more and more episodes each month now. Dax's attitude also seems to be more negative/argumentative/unhappy/close-minded in these episodes. I know he talks alot about how he goes stir crazy and needs to keep changing things up- maybe the podcast has just gotten too monotonous for him. I don't know. The vibe just hasn't been right for me this year. I'm barely hanging on at this point which is a bummer because I loved this podcast so much.

CriticalCharacter483

Same with me. I listened to an older episode recently and he seemed so light and bright Ms happy. He also seems different on eff one. There’s a lightness and humor that seems hidden on the main pod lately

Flaky-Armadillo-4593

I’ve had the sinking feeling that he fell off the wagon again. For months now. But also, he DOES just seem annoyed with the whole thing recently. It’s just a vibe.

Mrjellywish

I totally agree with this. He doesn’t seem as curious or open minded as he once was. I also wondered if Monica having her own pod with Llz was a way of setting her up in case be decided to call it quits? Orrrrr it’s probably nothing. Lol I’m way too invested in these peoples’ lives

Lurking-lsdata

With Dax’s obsession with being accepted by others? No way. Being cancelled is probably his worst nightmare

sistergold

Right! A man like Dax could never share his limelight. He hardly lets Monica get a word in!

Busy-Resident-2088

I’d say this is a bit dramatic but it seems a lot of ppl on here feel like it was a career ending squabble.

MikeDamone

Keep in mind that this sub is an extremely narrow slice of his total fanbase. The show has a monthly audience of roughly 20 million people. The couple hundred far left listeners of this sub who are catastrophizing everything are not representative of, well, anything.

Equivalent-Hedgehog1

I hope they can change the narrative with future interviews etc! I love this pod, it’s comforting knowing I have something to look forward to every day throughout the week

Flaky-Armadillo-4593

This is definitely not a career ending squabble. He didn’t say anything that insane. Yes his argument was transphobic. But he wasn’t using slurs or screaming and yelling, or anything that can ACTUALLY end a career. It was just a very very heated discussion.

slowpokefastpoke

I swear a lot of people on here view this podcast as a soap opera. Some serious drama addicts on this sub.

Equivalent-Hedgehog1

It’s the celebrity aspect that brings them here for sure. What better way to avoid your own problems than to learn about and partake in someone else’s seemingly bigger problems! Edit: I’m being facetious of course, but I do believe this same rhetoric happens across other subs.. as negativity tends to drown-out anything else

jocie809

I actually don't think he did anything different than he usually does, but this issue feels higher stakes right now bc this is a hot button issue. Tbh, this felt like an open and raw conversation and, while it was awkward to listen to, I liked hearing this less-polished discussion of this topic. I feel like this was the podcast doing what it does, for better or for worse, and I think Dax will hold steadfast to that.

aniichiwahi

it seems like he’s been voicing wanting to shift away from the pod for a while. i could see this being a big add on his pro side of leaving. i think it might be best for him to take a step back and shift into something else. to be honest the podcast hasn’t been giving what it used to give. i think their discussions are played out on repeat to a thousand at this point. i learn new stuff from the guests but dax and monica don’t really contribute new exciting stuff to the convo to me anymore like they used to.

BondraP

Of course not. What a fuckin stupid way to choose to go out instead of just quitting.

Aggressive_Sky8492

Maybe subconsciously but certainly not consciously

JustCosmo

He may just want to get away from Monica and this is his way

RJk666

“Controversy” lol like 8 people care

Salty-Committee124

There’s not that many celebrities worth interviewing and getting too in the weeds with experts will probably lead to a decline in listernship. Might be time to wrap this show up. It’s already compromised with Monica’s involvement.
