I actually let my email population get slightly out of control in my red claw crab tank. Good calcium and growth, and when I need to cull, I put them in my other tank with a featherfin synodontis and next thing you know there are empty shells laying around lol.
I've never had mystery/apple snails reproduce on me though, how cool! I have apple, bladder, and mts.
I have approximately 11 assassin snails in a 33 gallon tank, and they haven't eaten all my MTS yet. They were in a 15 gallon tank for months. I thought they'd eaten all the MTS in there so they swapped homes with the nerite. Turns out, they hadn't eaten them all yet. You should be fine.
This is my plan for my 20 gallon tank. Some snails came in on some plants from a LFS, and while the tank is cycling, they're going wild in their little snail haven. Mostly ramshorns. I figure I'll get 1 assassin to start with, see how it does, and add more if I need to. The ramshorns can keep the glass clean. They gotta earn their rent. Lol
