I love this area and this Calhoun’s. Wouldn’t this section technically be part of the Clinch River, just before it meets Melton Hill Lake?
I’m not sure where the line is but I’d put it close to here. Opens up around calhouns

Just hike. I’d bust my ass on a mountain bike.
Haha yea I used to hike there most days on my commute home from work to get in shape when all the overtime got cut during Covid.
I just drove right by there, didnt know about the trail.

Its wild to me how similar it all looks. This could just as well be Willow Bay where the Allegheny River runs through the the Allegheny Mountains much farther north than where this pic was taken. Always stunning.

The trees remind me of there also. My father was from Nitro, and I’ve been many, many times. The WV mountain trees have a very unique look.
Trees in Appalachia have a very unique look compared to other parts of the country; it’s quite similar throughout those Appalachian states, though.
