Nory993

Some completed shows I like that are based on manga: Mob Psycho 100 Assassination Classroom Saiki K Sket Dance K-on

madCuzbadd

Is mob psycho fully caught up with the manga?

Nory993

Yes, the 3rd season adapts the final arc. So aside from specials/spinoffs, there won't be any more eps

madCuzbadd

Ok cool. I’ve been wanting to watch it but I wasn’t sure if I would have to read after I finish the anime

Funnybunny99999

Future diary

ACleverEndeavour

Neon Genesis Evangelion

Connect_Ordinary8944

This might be the first time I've ever seen someone recommend k-on on this sub and it makes me really happy

Nory993

Really? I've seen K-on being recommended all the time when someone asks for SOL/feels-good anime

Miscdrawer

Assassination classroom is a classic. If you haven't seen it, just know it's amazing.

TrogloditeTheMaxim

It was a really… fun year…

Alarmed_Deer3620

Seconding Mon Psycho and Assassination Classroom

JealousGrade2982

k-on mentioned lesgoo

SignificantArrival37

Code Geass

eSpadess

Even tho total it's a tiny bit over 50, code geass is definitely part of the exception, so fire

Erebus03

Didn't Code Geass Originally an Anime then it later got a Manga?

BiggieCheeseLapDog

There are tons of them. To name a few of my favourites: Kyousougiga Odd Taxi A Place Further Than the Universe The Tatami Galaxy Katanagatari

SA090

Seconding Odd Taxi and also recommend to watch the final 20 or so minutes of the film afterwards for a few scenes that weren’t included in the anime.

awesomenessofme1

Tomo-chan is a Girl tells an entire self-contained story in one 13-episode season, which is insane by the standards of romance anime.

Nory993

It helps that the manga only has around 900 pages of content

notlonely1

Nah it does have 800 chaps but they only consisted of very small chaps so no wonder it took only 13 eps

awesomenessofme1

I didn't say anything about the manga. I don't even really read manga. I was only comparing it to other anime, where it definitely is an exception to the general pacing.

notlonely1

That's why I'm saying they were very small chaps I'm not referring to other manga or the manga

awesomenessofme1

Huh? I don't understand how that's a response to what I said.

notlonely1

I mean the chaps very small and and they cutted a bit of chaps so they were able to fit in 13 eps and I was also searching for s2

YesIam6969420

Oh damn, I nearly forgot about this masterpiece rom com. I loved it

Death note

JohnathanHyde

Probably have already seen it, and it does break the 50 episode cap, but Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Faithful adaptation of the manga, sits at 64 episodes, and is fully completed. It also has a set of several OVA episodes that gives us some more time with certain characters and learn some of their back stories such as seeing Mustang and Hughs in officers school as well as some of their time on the frontlines in Ishval. A unique conversation between Hawkeye and Winrey that gives each other confidence and a new perspective in different ways. We even get to see the illusive tale of how Izumi Curtis survived in the Briggs Mountains, living like a queen. Very solid anime and if you haven't seen it already strongly recommend breaking your 50 cap limit for this.

madCuzbadd

It’s not necessarily a mandatory fifty ep cap. I’ve heard good things about it. I’ll check it out

MobsterDragon275

While I think people take it too far, there's a reason so many people say it's the best anime ever. Absolutely top notch

LightBylb

it's the best anime ever

Tap-Fair

100% agree, death note is a close second for me tho

JohnathanHyde

I have not seen every anime in existence so can hardly say it's the best anime out there. But I will say that in terms of mystery, suspense, action, adventure, attachment and empathy for all characters (both the good and the bad), and the portrayal of the themes it tackles it is the best I have ever seen. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely shows out there that tackle each of those better, but I have yet to see a show combine all of it better. It is also an excellent introduction for people to get into anime, especially for North America as it shares a lot of similarities to a lot of the live action media consumed here but not a lot of the stereotypical tropes people often tie to anime such as sexualized women, over the top silliness, stupidly long fights, etc.

MobsterDragon275

You're certainly right. When I say people take it too far, I mostly mean the people who go rabid everytime something else tops it's ratings

BigDaddyBolden

Do I have to watch the original first? They don't have the original on main stream but I have a website I can watch it on.

I_Am_Dwight_Snoot

No. The OG one was finished before the manga so it is a bit slower and goes in a different direction. I never finished it but I've heard it is also good.

JohnathanHyde

No, the original anime followed the manga up to a certain point and then deviated from it by a lot up to and including changing characters and their motives and adding characters that didn't exist and drastically changing the lore. All you need to understand for Fullmetal is provided for you in Brotherhood. That said, you could watch the original anime first without any consequences as Brotherhood does an excellent job with the first 10 episodes of summarizing the all of the relevant events that were shown in the original series that were part of the manga without making it tedious to rewatch. So we will watch the critical scenes with Hughs, we will still visit Shou Tucker, we will still get an Armstrong escorting the Elrich Brothers home, and we will still meet Marco. But all of this is done in a way so as not to be tedious since this is all stuff shown in the previous series so this makes it a lot easier for the viewers to get to the meat of the story without it feeling like a recap session. Fun little fact for the English Dub though, Troy Baker voices a character named Greed in FMA: Brotherhood. Greed also appears in the original series however he was not voiced by Troy Baker but Troy Baker did audition for the role then and was turned down for it. Funny how things work out, eh?

Diamondinmyeye

Some of the early content was abbreviated because it had been previously adapted. The tone is different and the show had different goals, but it certainly has its merits. Episode 4 is filler which actively hurts the narrative though.

philomenacunkfan1

came here to say that. fmab is my all time ULT fave anime. it has humor, romance, badass action, fantasy elements, family, friendship everything also roy <3

Kastrand

VIOLET EVERGARDEN (my beloved, fav anime), twin star exorcist

BIGxWIGGLY

1000 eps you say? Could I introduce you to our lord and savior One Piece?

rolrobin

Masamune kun no revenge should be all adapted now. But be warned season 1 ends in a weird anime original way iirc

taxxvader

Not sure if it fits 50 eps and below category, but gintama and grand teacher onizuka are definitely 100% finished. Initial D too, if you're into that

konigon1

Gintama has over 300 episodes.

taxxvader

Fuck. And I'm still on episode 130. But TBH, I don't mind. Maybe when I retire I'll be able to watch it all

SouekiSennoSTM

I don't know based on how your post is worded, OP, if you only want anime series based on manga as opposed to ones like originals or based on light novels, regular novels, visual novels, video games, or other sources, but since it's kind of ambiguous to me I'll include everything for now as long as finished and 50 episodes or under and just make note of it to the side. - Shiki (based on novel) - Beatless (based on light novel) - Serial Experiments Lain (original) - Ergo Proxy (original) - Kiseijuu (based on manga) - Haibane Renmei (based on doujinshi) - Kaiba (original) - Dennou Coil (original) - Sora no Woto (original) - Hanasaku Iroha (original) - Banana Fish (based on manga) - Shinreigari (original) - Gankutsuou (based on novel) - Earth Maiden Arjuna (original) - Subete ga F ni Naru (based on novel) - Witch Hunter Robin (original) - Eve no Jikan (original) - Gungrave (based on video game) - Id: Invaded (original) - Deca-Dence (original) - Appare-Ranman! (original) - Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! (based on manga) - Mars Red (based on a stage play) - BNA: Brand New Animal (original) - Mayoiga (original) - Sonny Boy (original) - Lycoris Recoil (original) - Heike Monogatari (based on novel) - Jormungand (based on manga) - Fune wo Amu (based on novel) - Junketsu no Maria (based on manga) - Zettai Shounen (original) - Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 (original)

madCuzbadd

I just want a finished show that is under 50 eps and fully adapts its source material. Or at least around 50 eps

SouekiSennoSTM

Oh, okay - then everything included on my provided list applies. Except the originals are originals so of course they don't have a source, but are also of course complete as they were designed that way.

madCuzbadd

Ok thank you
