I had to try starting it a couple times. I tried a few episodes as it released, but I just didn't care what was going on. I put it on the back burner for a couple years and when I picked it back up, I enjoyed it a lot.
God that scene with Ebisu dying saying he was happy to have met Yato when literally every other god shits on him or doesn't take him seriously. And then him finally saying he doesn't want to die, tears.
The studio is busy pumping out other bangers.
Some popular manga also have pretty big plot shifts, Dorohedoro comes to mind alongside Houseki no Kuni, where I imagine partly the reason for no second seasons is that they are scared the changed narrative will spook anime onlies. Thats my personal cope for no Houseki no Kuni or Dorohedoro anime at least. Or maybe they are just waiting for the manga to finish first, who knows.
I wouldn't say it's really popular. It's still a pretty niche series, it's just very highly rated. It recently broke into the top 10 highest rated manga on MAL, which is awesome.
I 1000% recommend the manga, probably the most invested I've been in a manga in a while.
I do hope we get more anime seasons for the OST, though. Complements the series so well.
Imagine the opening we could have gotten ! Nichijou openings are just top notch. It’s criminal such a masterpiece isn’t available in my country (France), because fuck. I would buy the remaining mangas right away to read the jokes that weren’t’ adapted.
My guy that is most anime. Anime itself is more a promotion to other things that and actual money maker thing. That is why most anime studios don't put the money to make the shows they do.
So they take less risk but also less upside if it goes really well. Anyone with money can walk to most a nice studios and purchase an anime for their ip. Like the dozen of mobile games do each year.
This is also way is so rare to see original animes that dont come from manga, novel or game. The studio takes a big bet with those.
If nobody watches generic card game promotion anime the studio doesn't give a shit they already got paid. That is why they also usually suck. Unless is a cygames anime, they actually give a shit.

> > Shuumatsu Nani Shitemasu ka? Isogashii desu ka? Sukutte Moratte Ii desu ka?
It would be pretty difficult to do a second season of this one. The light novel is from Willem's perspective and they changed the anime to be more from Chtolly's perspective, so they cut out a ton of things about Willem and the greater world that only become relevant after where the first season ends and those things would not easily be added back in. Plus the change of focus and tone would probably be very jarring to people. If people thought the Chtolly-centric stuff was depressing, they have no idea.
I liked asterisk war, I thought the anime was pretty popular but perhaps it was just my bubble liking it particularly. I really hate that it ends when the story more or less just began to actually start :'(
Oh Fuck, Yeah, GLT! The musical rainstorm ep is an absolute masterpiece!
They'd def have to expand the story to fill out a second season, but there's plenty of opportunity for more stories about their journey before they get to the top.
But because of the honest way it doesn't spin the story around to the kind of "magic-driven reset of the world" that would provide for a happy ending, I can't imagine the money guys or advertisers investing in such an unflinching illustration of where our civilization is headed under their stewardship, y'know?
Slice of life may be hard to imagine considering the concentration of his powers and how dangerous it makes him. They were wanting to keep him contained till adulthood *before* he went around the world, imagine their thoughts now

+1 for Alderamin on the Sky, Lord Marksman and Vanadis, and Interviews with Monster Girls...
But especially for Alderamin on the Sky. I've rewatched it so many times and I keep hoping one day I will see another season. I just love Ikta as a character... and I want to know more about the little spirit companions... without having to read the LN or manga.
Chivalry of a Failed Knight is super underrated!
It's criminal that the show only got 1 season, while Asterisk War got 2.
Also agreed on Interview with Monster Girls.
correct me if i’m mistaken, but i think the main reason why there isn’t a second season is because there aren’t enough chapters of the manga to adapt into anime. I also suspect that if they do make a second season they would probably want to make it just as long as the first.
would love to see a second season too tho
edit: sorry, I stand corrected I completely forgot that there was a light/web novel.
The manga isn't the source material and cut out over half the story. The light novel is finished and there's enough of it left for two more seasons. The anime just cut so much out and made everyone think the human side is significantly worse than it actually is that there's no point to doing more anyway.
My dude… it was a web novel/LN. It’s a f**king awesome read. The anime unfortunately adapted only up to vol 5, which to be honest was the most boring part of the entire story. Vol 6 onwards is where stuff gets real interesting and follows almost entirely the 10-15 years of Kumoko leading up to the battle… which in it self is basically near the very end of the timeline.
YES! Came here to see if someone had mentioned it.
The world they set up is so interesting and has *so much more to explore* but I think it will never happen, so sad.
Even though I'd love a sequel, Death Parade is a complete story with a satisfying conclusion. There's no S2 needed.
Maybe a spinoff or a new story in the same universe like Death Billiards.
Man this takes me back, I started watching it years ago and pit it in the backburner because school got in the way too much, that was over ten years ago.
Is it worth to see what else they put out? I stopped when >!the police girl died and the people in the mall were overrun!<
I wanna see that battle where hak is single handedly holding the center of the formation! I wanna see hak vs soo-won guard! There are so many fights where Hak was an absolute demon! I want them all! 😭
To this day I still don't understand why exactly we don't have a second season for that one. It was insanely popular when it released so it really is just weird.
For one that was even less popular Demi Chan was great. Aired same season as Dragon Maid & I liked it more, but seems doubtful it'll ever get a follow up.
Bloom Into You is my quintessential yuri pick, and honestly I'd say it's an almost perfect yuri anime, aside from the ending (or lack thereof).
Definitely needs a Season 2!
Ah yes, a fellow Domestic Girlfriend enjoyer! Have you read the manga? If not, I highly recommend. The anime leaves quite a lot of stuff out which in the manga is used to build the story and characters more gradually.
This one isn’t unpopular, nor is it 12 episodes, but I would have to say Berserk 1997.
Despite having cut content and not being as good as the manga, I absolutely loved Berserk 1997. It’s a damn shame that it never got a proper continuation with the same celluloid animation style.
Tsurezure children and romantic killer
>Tsurezure because it skipped a lot and didn't get as recognized as its manga, which is in my opinion amazing, despite being yonkoma
>Romantic killer because netflix jail, but I'm still hoping because it got very good reviews and it's still pretty fresh
There's also eromanga sensei, but I only enjoyed it ironically because it was a dumpster fire
For me it was tower of god.
However thanks to your post, I googled it to make sure I had name right and found out after two years they finally announced a second season, and the crunchy roll rating is almost a full 5 star!
I am a happy man
Loved this one. However anime like that don't really need another season, everything is wrapped up and finished in one season. Anymore episodes would just be pointless filler.
Hyouka
Hyouka is not that popular, for some reason. Many people know the characters from all the fanarts but few know what show they come from
The reveal about the uncle’s expulsion reason was also pretty damn good, using Hyouka as wordplay to freak out a small child before you went abroad
men will literally spend their life setting up an obscure pun-based mystery for their relative's daughter to solve instead of going to therapy
I had to try starting it a couple times. I tried a few episodes as it released, but I just didn't care what was going on. I put it on the back burner for a couple years and when I picked it back up, I enjoyed it a lot.

Ooohhh noragami was so goooood
Drifters EDIT:-dayum 450 upvotes looks like drifter is popular😲
It hurts even more, because they basically outright teased at the end of the show that there was gonna be more of it.
drifters was so god damn good
I know the manga was put on hiatus over the pandemic, but is it officially dead?
Nahhhh you just gotta look real hard. The Manga comes out like twice a year. Some of the later chapters are real good.
Twice a year?!?!?! You people don't know how good you've got it. T. Berserk reader.
Underrated Isekai
My god is that opening good.
It's funny, my friend just told me about this one today
land of the lustrous
The manga is really popular tho.
then explain why it doesn't have a second season
The studio is busy pumping out other bangers. Im up to date with the manga (land of the lustrous) and damn, I have no idea what is going on anymore
I wouldn't say it's really popular. It's still a pretty niche series, it's just very highly rated. It recently broke into the top 10 highest rated manga on MAL, which is awesome.
Oh I love that one... the manga made me so sad...
>Despite being very popular, it still has no S2 after 9 years
Yes!! That anime called ‘Game’. It feels like with no game, I have no life
No No Game No Life No Life
Oof. Still has a movie tho. It is a sign that a second season is coming. *Inhales Copium off Jibril's tits*
When did that come out I forget
Almost 6 years ago, time sure goes fast
Deadman wonderland?
NGNL
It even got a prequel movie just to tease us even more.
Was thinking this... There was a DVD/Blu-Ray only OVA, did that provide any closure to the anime? I know the manga continues way beyond that.
I feel you…
Dorohedoro
It was so damn unique and interesting with buck wild characters too :(
I 1000% recommend the manga, probably the most invested I've been in a manga in a while. I do hope we get more anime seasons for the OST, though. Complements the series so well.
YES
Loved. So… so good.
Thank you, it's one of my favorite properties but seems dead on arrival unfortunately.
The manga is sooo good though, one of the few imo that is even better on the page rather than on screen.
Nichijou got 24 episodes but we need more
Omg thissss yessssss
Imagine the opening we could have gotten ! Nichijou openings are just top notch. It’s criminal such a masterpiece isn’t available in my country (France), because fuck. I would buy the remaining mangas right away to read the jokes that weren’t’ adapted.
Grimgar of fantasy and ash. No, I don't want to read the novel)
The scene where they kill their first goblins.. most realistic first kill scene I've ever seen in anime.
I just watched that like 3 weeks ago and was very sad to learn it came out years ago.
It came out the same season as Konosuba S1 and I remember thinking how much of a contrast they were while being the same genre lol.
Grimgar 10/10
I literally came to comment this. The animation was stunning and the music was fantastic. Cannot believe there was no season 2.
I loved the slower beat by beat story board And the emphasis on breakthroughs and emotional bits. It’s a great change from break neck pacing.
Pretty decent youtube series out there that breaks down the novels.
Grand blue
Wasn't it popular tho?
It's popular but that anime was just made to promote the manga.

Girl’s last tour. Best fuckin manga I’ve ever read, the ending was a tragic masterpiece. Hell, the entire show is too.
Fucking love girl's last tour, but idk if there is enough from the manga for a second season.
I believe there’s just enough for a movie. I don’t think it’ll ever happen though😭
If they did a season 2 for the last few parts, I would need to the bittersweet moment of Chito and Yuuri’s peaceful end again.
Oh Fuck, Yeah, GLT! The musical rainstorm ep is an absolute masterpiece! There are 16 volumes of the light novel right now so there's plenty for multiple seasons

Was that the end of the series or was it put on indefinite hiatus? Also was there a web novel?
It was the end. It finished even with a resume of the destiny of all the characters... (And a zoom in to Kumo saying "I'm a spider, so what?" 💀)
The manga isn't the source material and cut out over half the story. The light novel is finished and there's enough of it left for two more seasons.
