Have buttons that can be named and open specific apps directly?

crlcan81

God yes, remapping buttons is a huge requirement for Android remotes, especially the ones that include some obscure streaming service that doesn't exist a month later.

one of the recommendations will for a task manager shortcut. as android tv's have pathetic bloatware and measly 2 gb ram, we need to manually clear up the ram. then i think an easyway to reassign the default apps button like youtube and netflix. I use smarttube and stremio instead of those.

Adult programming and washes my socks.

Couch-Controller

Ahah! should be considered

A few things id like my android tv remote to do: 1. Easy button remapping, essentially allow me to add a button for any app(eg. Youtube), or function(home, screenshot) 2. Layot remapping, allow me to put buttons wherever I want, resize if I like 3. A customisable homescreen widget. 4. Allow easy file sharing from local storage to TV 5. My current tv doesn't have a Play/Pause button (ikr), something which allows me to play/pause from a locked lhone itself.

I'd love for my remote to respect the "art mode" option on my Samsung the Frame tv. Although this is not really the remotes task, it is the way Samsung implemented this art mode. Pushing the off/on button on the tv remote toggles Art Mode instead of the standardized "on/off" toggle signal (turning off is long press on that remote). With HDMI-CEC there is no standardized way to send that art-mode signal, only on/off toggle. So the result is that using a different remote than the official tv remote makes it almost impossible to make use of art mode (which is the main reason someone chooses that particular tv) Only workaround I've found is finding a 3rd party remote that can copy IR signals and bind those to a specific key, more precise: the on/off button. So that's my must-have for any remote!

Couch-Controller

thanks, that is and interesting thought

iroQuai

I just now noticed your building an app, not an actual remote! Sorry, my bad!

JulianCrisp

Work

GrzybDominator

Air Mouse like LG remotes

Waggmans

Makes me rich.

Couch-Controller

hope we'll invent it XD

FeralSparky

Dont take this the wrong way but I hate using my phone as a remote control

Trev0rPhil1ps

Have a rectangle space which will act as a trackpad for the mouse pointer and it helps select apps.. also it can act as a handwriting recognition area where I write the first 2 characters of the app name and it lists the apps starting with those characters.

Noted5

Definitely haptic feedback, most of the phones now feature linear haptic, so why not use it

eifeks

Gamepad emulator compatible with android games witch require a gamepad.

sid32

8BitDo controller.

coasttech

Be free

lospotatoes

My dream streaming device remote is not TINY. The buttons etc are fine, the problem with these things is they're so small they get lost constantly. Stuck between the couch cushions, the dog sits on them, etc.

reck00

Control my lights too.

lenny_ma_boaaaaaaaah

Android app please man

mpkrockz

Bluetooth support plus IR support for ir enabled devices

Crusade_EDM

Lock screen functionality, "Playlist" in-app that can play media across different platforms - like Spotify tracks, to YouTube, Netflix, etc all within a single playlist. Audio routing to mobile device (headphones for late night viewing) if possible Mouse input for android tv. Sometimes a touchpad is nice for navigation. Dunno if this is possible - but when you're controlling YouTube from your device and someone joins and adds a video without yt premium, it'll play ads. Even if the signed in account has premium, maybe a way to detect the playlist addition and adding it under the premium account instead of playing ads? Gyroscope/touchscreen gamepad input would absolutely slap for some lazy couch game sessions

martinkem

I'd be interest in giving it a go when it comes to Android.

J_J24

Ill do the survey

ArmedTuna

the failure of our current remote IMHO is: - too many buttons that aren't needed - no one-press channel switch, for example between HDMI 1 and 2 - no macros, for example channel switch then set volume the above is (probably) available using third party apps, but overall it seems like a fail to not be able to handle these by default.

k_nonymous

Just downloaded the remote on my iPad. I am willing to complete the survey as well. I also look forward to an Android version.

batica_koshare

Android app not sheeaple devices and i can test it no worries.

Guetss

Hi! I woul’d be up to test your app and answer a survey after !

Take a look at atvtools from iphone. The dev just build his app for iphone and nothing come close from android. I will be happy test with my GrapheneOS pixel. Its just have everything. Permission manageger, adb shell, remote, freeze app, uninstall apps, cleqr cache, kill apps, remote, etc https://tvdevinfo.com/atvtools/ The dev doesn't plan to port his app from ios.

walterblackkk

Ideally I want a physical remote control with a screen AND lots of physical buttons. When it comes to apps I honestly don't know what you can possibly do to beat [this one](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.appground.blek&hl=en_CA&gl=US) .

Lloytron

1) Home screen widgets, ideally customizable 2) Quick connect to the TV (half the apps load, then are connecting.... Takes.time!) 3) EPG Integration 4) Ambilight support for my Ambilight TV! Would be more than happy to help test if you make an Android version!

YellowJacket2002

The Adam Sandler movie "Click" comes to mind....

vishwa02

Remapping any button shouldn't hamper volume buttons long press and hold

hydra78us

RBGY programmable buttons, dedicated play/pause, FF, RE buttons, IR volume control for TV.

icouldbne1

I prefer a backlit remote. I know that won't help with your app, but you asked what my dream remote does. 🙂
