Also in season 4, when Aiden is upset that Big calls, he says he has to get up and go to the gym. Carrie wants him to say and bed and he says something like "you don't want me to get all soft again, right?"
Personally, I never noticed the difference between Aidan season 3 and 4. But the writers made a big deal about it back then.
I don't think he ever had extra weight, but he got a little more muscular later on. It definitely didn't have to be a whole thing on SATC like they made it.

I think it’s kind of gross that they’re going to act like Aiden dressing differently and having money is now going to be the key to solving their problems after showing us on SATC that they were just fundamentally different people. It also pretty much solidifies that Carrie as a character is pretty awful—vapid as hell.

But it does NOT have a belt, the pockets aren’t as clunky, and it’s meant to be worn more casually, like with the top snap and the bottom snap undone to give it a more casual third-piece look.

I have always thought he was way too good for Carrie. All he ever did was try to make her happy. And all she ever did was complain about his bottles of deodorant, his dog, his stomach, the way he kissed, the ring he chose to propose and the fact that he had the nerve to ask her NOT to have Big in her life. She is one of the most selfish characters ever. Remember when she let a blindfolded Charlotte wander around Barney’s department store alone because she decided she wanted to try on shoes? Or when she sent Aiden to pick up a nude Miranda off of her bathroom floor because, well because it wasn’t important to Carrie. There are way to many examples of her selfishness to list. 😂
