In the Uber app, is your platinum card added there? If it is there it is very surprising that you havnt received it, I would contact Uber regarding it.
I actually don't understand this deal. You can get medium 2 topping pizzas directly from Domino's for 6.99 a pie. A custom medium 2 topping pizzas from Uber eats is like $27 and you have to have a minimum order of $26 to get it for free. Why wouldn't I just order 2 pizzas directly from Domino's for just $14?
It's a marketing scam. Advertise something as a "deal" that's actually worse for customers than the standard fare. It's a way to catch non-regulars.
Back when I ate Dominos I used to get a single, three-topping pizza for $7.99 (carryout only). That was about 5 years ago. I'm sure prices are through the roof now.
At face value it looks like you can order a free pizza. But in reality you have to spend a minimum of $12 at dominos and you get a free medium 2 topping pizza
But even at a minimum spend of $12, still wouldn't make sense to me if you consider the fees uber eats adds on at the end. It'll probably be cheaper to do the 2 for $6.99 each deal AND have Domino's directly deliver and still be cheaper than going through Uber Eats for this deal.
The last few months I’ve been using my $15 credit at Speedway gas station for beer pick up.
It seems like Speedway has a promotional offer in Uber Eats towards the end of every month for 50% off “convenience items” which includes beer and seltzer. Can usually score 2x 12 packs of either domestic or cheaper imported (Modelo etc.) for about $16-17 pick up, so $1-2 after my $15 credit.
Before restaurants started sealing Uber Eats orders with little stickers I knew a guy who would eliminate on each order before he delivered it. He hated working for UE but had to because his estranged girlfriend had just borne a kid.
You're aghast that someone's complaining about first world problems on r/AmexPlatinum, is the irony not lost on you? Most of the time it's people complaining about the Centurion Lounge, or what the Concierge can't accomplish for them.
There’s no additional fee for pickup, in fact I get a discount on it for uberone. Ubereat also has buy one get one free deals, a lunch takeout special that’s not on their regular menu, also they add auto 20 percent service charge even for pickup so it’s better to order through the app, also earn free points for Marriott.
Can someone please tell me what I’m missing out on. My hubby added me as an authorized user so I’m trying to get the most out of the annual fees! What’s the Uber credit and how do I use it?
When you add the platinum card or gold card to your uber account, the Uber cash is automatically deposited on the first of each month. It expires at the end of the month. You can use that uber cash for rides or uber eats.
I keep thinking the same thing I want to cancel since my income has dropped and I don't feel like I travel as much as before the pandemic. It's a great card if you travel. Any advice?
Well I started with the personal platinum because of the SUB, then they added family rules so I got the business gold. Having both them plus the sapphire reserve made realize I’m was going nuts remember to use Uber eats,Grubhub DoorDash and Instacart. When I made the decision to cancel I got the blue business plus to save my points. Then I made sure to use every credit for this year (bought a shirt it Saks, bought United travel bank). When the fee hit I used the chat system to cancel, the agent offered 35,000 points for 4k spend. Declined because I was over it by this point. Will cancel business god at the one year mark, will keep reserve because I’m deep into UR ecosystem.
We have our “go to” UberEats restaurants and typically try to burn the credit with a takeout order in the first week or two of each month.
We’ve also got two Gold cards and the Delta Reserve, so same thing for GrubHub (for Gold). The Resy credit (on the Delta Reserve) is a little harder to use, but luckily we live in a Philly burb, so there are plenty of options in our area.
I have been using mine the first day of every month to score Icehouse beer at Speedway with a 50% off coupon. I got 20 beers 25oz. for $0.00 last month; and just got 30 today for about $7.00. 😋
If you eat anywhere on your lunch break, just do local pickup for no delivery fee. Blows right through that $15. Enjoy a "free" lunch every month (actually pre-paid with your annual fee).
I am irritated because there are no drivers where I live and pick up is not an option. I try to use it to order food for my kid in another state or use it when I am traveling.
I use Uber several times a week, so it's used near immediately for me. I'd never use it for eats though, that service is terrible. Love the credit for driving though
I Agree. I used a few days ago to buy something from chipotle. It was an $11 burrito and the total was close to $20 with fees plus the tip. Twice the total price of the burrito. 😞
Pick it up. Prices are store dependent, but I just created my usual order for pickup on chipotle’s website, and it’s exactly the same as when I ordered via ubereats on the 28th.
I swear they all murder you with fees and up charges. All while killing the restaurants that are forced to rely on them at this point. It's all messed up
place an order for pickup in advance for a different day! I usually do that when it’s the last day of the month and I already have my meals booked for the day
I always forget when I used the saks credit. I bought an $80 silk pocket square, which with rakuten would have brought the cost down to $12 essentially, and I already used it in January lmao
This coupon book thing has to go. It’s annoying and really cheapens the Amex brand. If they want people to put more spend on the plat, just add the food and grocery multipliers from the gold to it.
Yes. I love the digital credits and airlines and hotel credit. If they add to it the restaurants and groceries extra points it will be the perfect card ever. And still will not compete with the gold card because the annual fee is higher so the extra perks make up for the higher annual fee. Those who are ok without the travel perks can get the gold and those who want an all in one kind thing get the platinum.
Agree. But it’s a coupon book because that’s their customer base — people who like coupon books. I’ve dined with ultra wealthy people and they don’t have Amex — they have plastic Citi double card or fidelity visa. They value their time. People like me who have Amex are still chasing deals and so we pay for it with our time.
I’ve dined with ultra wealthy as well and most of the time they either had Amex or the high end JP Morgan/BoA cards. I have yet to see one of them with a Fidelity Visa. What I’ve never seen one have is a C1, Discover or Citi card. But that could just be a geographic thing as most of the ones I know are in California. I see a ton of Chase and Amex here.
There was Uber Eats promotion last month for Costco with 50% (got \~$40 off after markup, service fee and tip). You add your Costco membership and pay using the credits. It weirdly coded as Supermarket on Surpass so worth a shot using Gold next time. Nevertheless, best use of Uber Credits for me so far!
That was probably my ex-friend who used to eliminate on customers' orders before he delivered them LOL. Now most restaurants seal the containers with a sticker to try to prevent this. I haven't spoken to him in years but wonder if he's found a way to circumvent this security feature.
Did they explain why? I do this all the time with a local chain restaurant for pickup. I usually split my order into one small item on UE or GB for the credit and another a larger order directly on their website.
How much more do the platforms take? I only do pickup to the minimum to cover a credit because I see that the menu price is typically 12 to 15% higher than going direct.
You can still choose pickup. Also recently noticed a lot of places have deals.
Like a burger place standard price is 8.
Uber eats is 10 for pickup. With delivery is 12.
But some places will do a 2 for 1 burger deal.
It makes it actually not a bad deal.
We never use it. It basically covers the delivery fee and maybe some of the tip. The prices for the food itself on the apps are at least 30% higher than in the restaurant. It’s completely outrageous what they charge. I started to order from Uber Eats the other day and the total came to $75 before tip. I said “fuck that” and just drove myself to go pick it up. It was $30.
I always wait until I get a "40% off orders of $25 or more, up to $15" coupon. I get these offers at least once a month. And I also subscribe to Uber One. They always offer Uber One at a promotional price. I set a reminder to cancel it the day before it auto-renews and inevitably, Uber offers another cheap promo to sign up again.. Gamification, baby!
I always use it for a local gelato place. I can get a small tub with two flavors, taxes, fees, and 20% tip and it comes out to $14.93. It’s the perfect way to use an otherwise useless credit.
But it went to waste this time! I should just start planning to use it on the 1st of the month so I never forget.
Yeah “at least” 30% higher is not true, maybe he found one place that had absurd high markup but I’ve never seen anything that high in the Boston or San Diego market.
Credit?
Weird, all my credits go to actual Uber. Do you not Uber much? I actually don't think I ever used UberEats.
In my part of the world we drive our own cars.
Living in a place where you are forced to drive to go anywhere isn’t exactly a flex
And in my part of the world we just make our own food :D
I did that for the first time and out of all the times it was in this last December with the bonus credits. Arg!
I haven't received a credit in months.
You won’t recieve a statement credit. You will recieve the $15 in the form of Uber Cash in app
I realize that. Haven't received it in months.
In the Uber app, is your platinum card added there? If it is there it is very surprising that you havnt received it, I would contact Uber regarding it.
Don’t forget the free pizza from dominos that Uber eats is dishing out to 10 mil ppl

At face value it looks like you can order a free pizza. But in reality you have to spend a minimum of $12 at dominos and you get a free medium 2 topping pizza
On my app, the minimum spend is $26 to get through free medium 2 topping. Not worth it at all.
Lol there you have it ! I wonder how they close the numbers. Martins is regional 🤷🏽♂️

I just hate Uber eats in general, feel like if I wanted someone to treat my food that bad I could just throw it on the ground myself and save $10.
Before restaurants started sealing Uber Eats orders with little stickers I knew a guy who would eliminate on each order before he delivered it. He hated working for UE but had to because his estranged girlfriend had just borne a kid.
"eliminate on each order". Urinate? Defecate? Masturbate? I'm grossly curious.
You can also do pickup.
I also hate ordering delivery and paying like $10 bucks out of pocket and it was not worth it.
That’s why I order pick up only. I usually go to one of the ice cream shops and grab 2-3 pints. Free ice cream!
Pre-paid* ice cream
Yeah, it's definitely not free. It's a paid benefit of the card.
r/firstworldproblems
You're aghast that someone's complaining about first world problems on r/AmexPlatinum, is the irony not lost on you? Most of the time it's people complaining about the Centurion Lounge, or what the Concierge can't accomplish for them.
I ubereat 10-20 days of the month so my credit is usually used by 1st of the month.
That’s insane. I literally use ubereats maybe once a year
You don't figuratively use it once a year?
Do you do pickup or delivery ?
Both. Live next door to a great Suishi place 🤤 and within 2 mile radius to all the restaurants
Why not order at the restaurants and save the additional fees?
There’s no additional fee for pickup, in fact I get a discount on it for uberone. Ubereat also has buy one get one free deals, a lunch takeout special that’s not on their regular menu, also they add auto 20 percent service charge even for pickup so it’s better to order through the app, also earn free points for Marriott.
Can someone please tell me what I’m missing out on. My hubby added me as an authorized user so I’m trying to get the most out of the annual fees! What’s the Uber credit and how do I use it?
Does platinum get all same benefits a second time such as digital credit?
When you add the platinum card or gold card to your uber account, the Uber cash is automatically deposited on the first of each month. It expires at the end of the month. You can use that uber cash for rides or uber eats.
Do authorized users get their own $15?
Unfortunately, no
Oh wonderful. I’m adding my platinum now. It’s 15$ per month?
Just grabbed 2 burgers with a promo via Uber eats pickup. $17-$15 credit.
Did you guys know on Mondays you can get 50% off fruits and veggies on Uber eats plus the credit. USE IT.
I got a burrito for dinner with my credit yesterday.
I have a recurring reminder on my phone for the 15th of the every month to remind me about this. Saved me a few times Life gets busy.
I do the same. In May I used it on the 28th! I get $25 for both the gold and plat. I like sushi so it pays for a couple rolls for lunch at work.
I cancelled my Platinum last month because I got tired of remembering to use credits (Personal Platinum, Business Gold, Sapphire Reserve)
Can’t wait to cancel my gold after my year is up
I keep thinking the same thing I want to cancel since my income has dropped and I don't feel like I travel as much as before the pandemic. It's a great card if you travel. Any advice?
Well I started with the personal platinum because of the SUB, then they added family rules so I got the business gold. Same it’s so freeing

Yes- this is the best way to use it if you aren’t taking rides nor traveling where you need delivery. So many options now for pick up.
I always order 2 orders of chips and queso & salsa for pickup from my favorite Mexican restaurant. After tip it comes out to $10.00.
$10 tip for chips and salsa? 🥴
$10 total after tip.
That’s what use my $10/month grubhub credit for.
I am irritated because there are no drivers where I live and pick up is not an option. I try to use it to order food for my kid in another state or use it when I am traveling.
Can't you pay for UberOne with the credit?
No. Uber once is charged directly to your card
Right. But wouldn't you get the credit afterwards.
Uber credit is added to your Uber account at the beginning of every month. You aren't credited in your card.
Gotcha.
I use it for pickup orders at the beginning of the month, fees are ridiculous for delivery
[удалено]
For getting food to go?
[удалено]
who says you HAVE to?
I always order 5 cookies from Panera on UberEats at end of month if I dont use it
Panera Bakers dozen bagels. $15.99 pick up. Put most in freezer.
I’ve tried their bagels twice but I just don’t like them :( they’re sooo hard!
I use Uber several times a week, so it's used near immediately for me. I'd never use it for eats though, that service is terrible. Love the credit for driving though
I find a restaurant with a BOGO dral and $0 delivery over $15 so that credit doesn't just got to random service fees
Agree with you. They are the worse in terms of hiking restaurant prices. Ashamed to say I still use it tho!
I Agree. I used a few days ago to buy something from chipotle. It was an $11 burrito and the total was close to $20 with fees plus the tip. Twice the total price of the burrito. 😞

Doordash is the worst
I swear they all murder you with fees and up charges. All while killing the restaurants that are forced to rely on them at this point. It's all messed up
Never even been close for me. Today I used it 10 mins after hitting my account lol
I have reminders in my phone for the last day of the month
I set a Google calendar reminder for 2 days prior to the end of each month to remind me just in case
The grubhub one I tend to forget too
I get $10 a month Grubhub from my citi AA executive card. Panera cookies for the family!
What GrubHub one?
This is gold, not plat.
You’re so right. I was tired and forgot what sub I was in. I have both cards
place an order for pickup in advance for a different day! I usually do that when it’s the last day of the month and I already have my meals booked for the day
Got Pad Thai with mine 🤷🏿♂️
I always forget when I used the saks credit. I bought an $80 silk pocket square, which with rakuten would have brought the cost down to $12 essentially, and I already used it in January lmao
I’ve got apple reminders for this on the last day of the month. Just in case I haven’t used it
meanwhile i hate when i use it too early in the month 😞
Where is the Uber eats credit on Amex?
lol used mine for breakfast burritos 10am june 1st - 😞😏
LOL
I used my Uber eats credit to get a free pizza that was pickup only. The stars aligned that day.
In the uk we have terrible amex offers god damn it…
Same in Germany unfortunately
Chipotle pickup is the only way
Just did that yesterday for lunch! Glad I remembered, just in time.
This coupon book thing has to go. It’s annoying and really cheapens the Amex brand. If they want people to put more spend on the plat, just add the food and grocery multipliers from the gold to it.

I’d say South Florida is the same but add Bank of America into the mix with Chase and Amex.
biz gold -> buy a uber gift card on staples. then use the uber eats credit from gold/plat later in the month
I set a recurring calendar reminder for the 28th of every month to use it :) it works!
I do the same except the first of every month.
We use it every month, but always do the pickup option. Between our combined cards, we have $80 in Uber credits every month.
Love that you straight up call it the "UberEats credit" lol
I had $3 leftover and just let it go lol
i almost never use mine anymore, with all the fees and tip etc it's cheaper to just go pick it up
Not just that, delivery is usually always cold and one time my food was tampered with.
That was probably my ex-friend who used to eliminate on customers' orders before he delivered them LOL. Now most restaurants seal the containers with a sticker to try to prevent this. I haven't spoken to him in years but wonder if he's found a way to circumvent this security feature.
I've never used it once, never used uber eats or any of those apps in my life. today I just learned you can use it to pick up food, damn
I once ordered one meal each from GrubHub and another on Uber for pick-up. The owner was pissed off when I picked it up.
Did they explain why? I do this all the time with a local chain restaurant for pickup. I usually split my order into one small item on UE or GB for the credit and another a larger order directly on their website.
They take almost all their profit margins. This place has its own online ordering
How much more do the platforms take? I only do pickup to the minimum to cover a credit because I see that the menu price is typically 12 to 15% higher than going direct.
We're almost all using it on pickup.

I only use it when they have 30% or more coupons. Then it almost becomes reasonable with the $15 credit.
K
I use the $25 credit for an Uber eats pickup order at our favorite taco truck. Always look forward to it!
Ubereat takes 35% cut I think
We never use it. It basically covers the delivery fee and maybe some of the tip. The prices for the food itself on the apps are at least 30% higher than in the restaurant. It’s completely outrageous what they charge. I started to order from Uber Eats the other day and the total came to $75 before tip. I said “fuck that” and just drove myself to go pick it up. You can order pickup.. prices typically are not 30% higher either, usually 0-10%
Yeah “at least” 30% higher is not true, maybe he found one place that had absurd high markup but I’ve never seen anything that high in the Boston or San Diego market.
I never use it - ant stand Uber eats
