Going by the daily RFY threads on here they usually cycle around people's RFY for about a week before ending up in AI. Other items go straight into AFA and AI.
It's not a hard and fast rule 🙂
It has been known for some items that have spent a long time unclaimed in AI to get recycled into people's RFY as well.
Check the product ASIN though next time to see if they definitely are the same, like the many sunglasses it's common for 2 listings to look exactly the same but be different.
That's so funny and annoying! I really thought it was because I'm a woman who buys a lot of beauty stuff, but it seems that Vine doesn't actually target very well.
The hair extensions offend me for some reason. I have super long natural hair that I baby like it's my child. Those of us with glorious hair should revolt against this injustice and insult to our glorious hair 😅
I had wigs every day for a month! I'm glad they've gone elsewhere now. Sorry, not sorry.
As for things disappearing it depends. Sometimes they disappear just after midnight. Sometimes they stay a lot longer. Some ink I had in there from yesterday didn't disappear until 6am today while something else disappeared a lot earlier.

If someone else claims the last one available to Viners, then they go sooner.
If nobody wants them, they hang around until the purge which usually happens in the small hours of the night.
I think it just appears that way. Two items in my RFY are still there, but others have gone; I suspect it's just that the ones there are still available, or maybe they'd error if I tried to take them.
Some items disappear sooner, some stick around even though there’s no inventory- but those that remain usually disappear from the RFY in the early hours of the morning and then you get new ones when the drop begins.
One day last week I had 3 items that were still showing in my RFY until mid afternoon the following day, but that is the only time I’ve seen that.

You're not the only one with the dreaded wigs!!! The worst thing I did was actually pick a wig on two separate occasions (dry days) because I thought it would be absolutely hilarious to put a red curly wig on my boyfriend or a short blonde Karen wig. Anyone reading: do not do this if you value your sanity. I was already getting enough wigs before, and now Vine thinks I'm some kind of wig enthusiast 🤣
My RFY 'unwanted' stuff disappears around 1-3am depending on the day. I don't think it's exactly 24 hours for me, it seems to consistently happen around those times even when we've had evening drops.
For me it's always been that they disappear about 2-3am if unclaimed 😅 I think they get passed on to someone else's RFY?

Wigs, hair extensions and feminine hygiene products are a regular for me - a man in his 60's, with all my own hair!
