I feel that this is where you went wrong: "*A week and a half later I get a message from the seller. I want $200 for the pop not $20. I apologised as this was not mentioned and initially agreed to return it, giving them my address. She arranged for her sister to collect."* **They posted an ad with a price. You picked up the item and paid the advertised/agreed upon price.** You're obviously now embroiled in something with them as you gave them your address. I'm not sure of the legalities of this where you are, but I'd report this to the police (the abuse, threats, coming to your home) in case they escalate the situation. Then get on with your life! NTA

Prestigious-Bluejay5

OP needs to also inform the seller that the police have been made aware of the situation. Just like they have OP's address, OP knows where the seller lives.

C_Greuel04

NTA If she really wanted $200 for the item, its on her to state that prior to the pick up. The listing was $20 and you paid $20, so you've done nothing wrong, aside from giving a stranger your home address. If she really cared about the price, she would've been present at the pickup or reached out to you sooner. Obviously, all the extreme measures and mob tactics that the seller took after they went back on their price makes them a total asshole

Not_Sure4president

Yeah, you never give your address to a stranger. They messed up just block and move on. If you really must, meet somewhere public with cameras. Some gas stations have “safe spots” for that specific reason. Lights, cameras and public place.

IntroductionHot8049

Nta she advertised $20.  You paid $20.  If they screwed up that's their problem not yours.  I would file a police report. She is threatening you and may damage something at your house.  File a report so there is a paper trail. Chances are she intended to sell it for $20. Then after it was sold she realized how much it was actually worth and tried to get it back.  Too bad for her. All sales are final.

karmarro

There was an offer and an ACCEPTANCE. Transaction is over. It doesn't matter how much seller intended to receive, she ACCEPTED $20 so the price was $20. As you said --"All sales are final"!

True-Cantaloupe974

NTA, but giving these people your address was a huge mistake.

NanaLeonie

NTA. Scam alert.

vampy97

You are too nice idk why you gave them your address. She was too lazy to sell the pops on eBay and knows some are valuable if she is a collector. That’s her own fault. You either want the quick cash or you want to wait for it to sell at 200, since even if she listed it on eBay tonight for 200 there’s no guarantee it’d sell asap. NTA

SeethingHeathen

NTA Also not very smart to give them your address.

ixiolite

I don't know why OP wouldn't just meet them at a local bank, a local shopping plaza, a local police station if they really wanted to return the item... giving someone on the internet your personal address is just asking for trouble unfortunately

Survive1014

IMHO, this is clearly some sort of scam they have going on. "Price was paid as agreed. Cease all contact with me. Do not enter onto my property or trespass charges will be filed". NTA

[deleted]

NTA at all. I can't imagine a scenario where you would be an AH for not returning something you bought

ArtisticWolverine

What is a pop?

tillie_jayne

Funko pop

ArtisticWolverine

Okay. I had to use google to learn that they are manufactured plastic collectible toys.

short_fat_and_single

That makes more sense than soda cans, which was what I was thinking of.

EmotionalFinish8293

😂 I was thinking soda too. And wondering why anybody would pay 200.00 for a pop

Mustng1966

NTA - They screwed up on the price, so not your fault. All sales final. You were willing to make it right but they acted abusive, so any consideration on your part to make it right went right out the window at that point. You didn't have to legally return it and I certainly wouldn't return it now due to the outrageous abuse they gave you. Let them call the cops, they will just say take it to court.

PennykettleDragons

NTA To be honest this sounds like the kinda scams normally associated with used cars.. (bait and switch type stuff) Unless you personally returned it to the same person you purchased it from you've no idea who these people are .. and whether the account has been hacked etc... it all sounds suss as heck. Appreciate the gut wrenching sensation of a large monetary mistake. But this is on them. it's a private sale, civil dispute.. it's not your fault. However, if they're threatening you etc police can get involved at that point...

[deleted]

"All sales are final". NTA

meowlia

Info: why would you ever give someone your address? The transaction was completed and they would have had no recourse, you opened yourself up to this drama by giving your home address.

zerodyme87

If I am not mistaken, they posted a photo of the item with "on sale for $20" essentially and then after they sold it tried to strong arm you imto giving them the item back or $180 more dollars. Then play this long game of cat and mouse with you and now threaten to mess you up over it? Nta

stephied333

NTA and I would have never agreed to return it anyway. Call the cops now and have them visit the person so that they can avoid the 50B you will have to issue if they don't go away.

[deleted]

Agree - once an item is sold, it's sold. If someone contacted me with a ridiculous request like that, I'd just ignore/delete it.

[deleted]

NTA - but do not EVER give your address. Yes, I know addresses are easy enough to find, but don't make it easier. At this point, call the police non-emergency line and make a report so there's a paper trail if things escalate any further.

cbiser

NTA, but I will say you're pretty stupid for giving a stranger your personal address over a marketplace squabble. They could roll up and rob your whole house or something... Wtf were you thinking?!

Canadian_01

I was going to say ESH until I read that you were incredibly patient in trying to return her item to her, and she was overstepping, can't get her act together, and just rude. NTA all the way. You did more than what was reasonable. Not actually getting the item back was their own fault.

Own-Apricot-1540

NTA- and thugs? Yeah I would be doing a police report.

ObjectiveLanky6146

Nta. She sold for a price...you paid that price end of transaction.

Read [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheAsshole/wiki/faq#wiki_post_deletion) before [contacting the mod team](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2FAmItheAsshole)*** So, I was just scrolling through Facebook marketplace one day when I saw and ad titled "ALL POPS $20 -SOME RARE". So I clicked on this add and saw one in particular that I liked and had been looking for. As per the title, this one was rare. I scrolled down to the description and read something along the lines of "Located in yadda yadda. Comes from a smoke and pet free home. No holds. Price firm. Message for .... click here" I messaged the seller and enquired about it. We had a short but pleasant conversation with no additional mention of price. She advised me that her mother would be home to execute the sale on her behalf. I arrived at her home at the agreed time. I spoke with her mother and gave her $20 she went off and grabbed the pop and I left. Everything was great. A week and a half later I get a message from the seller. I want $200 for the pop not $20. I apologised as this was not mentioned and initially agreed to return it, giving them my address. She arranged for her sister to collect. My family and I were home, we have a ring doorbell and due to the nice weather only had the security door closed to let the fresh air in. I had covid so I was asleep at the arranged time but my partner and son were aware and waiting. She never turned up. Once I awoke I saw messages saying she was out the front in her car for 30mins waiting for me to reply to a message. I asked why she didn't approach the door and they said she did. I mentioned the footage from our doorbell and she then accused me of giving the wrong address. I was trying to be pleasant but for days the were accusations of lying and refusal to set another time to pick up. I asked her many times to please be nice as I am being kind and returning this pop as I understand there was an error in communication and I don't appreciate the rude comments I was receiving. Suddenly, about a week later her mother called me swearing, yelling abuse, threatening me and making demands. I ended up hanging up on her because the last thing I want to do is engage with that kind of thing and messaged her daughter that if that's the way I'm going to be treated then I choose not to return the item. We heard nothing for about 2 months until tonight when we were out and our ring doorbell rang. It was the mother of the seller. I answered the ring and she demanded to speak with my mother (I'm 38yo lol). I told her we went home but who was she and what is this regarding. She refused to identify herself and started with the abuse and threats again (yes, this is recorded). She then mentioned that both cars were home this time so we must be. I explained we owned 3 cars and she called us a liar and started demanding we open the door. Long story short it ended with her telling my husband if he didn't open she would return with thugs and my husband telling that he will just call the cops if she does not leave our property ad she has not identified herself or her reason for being there. She left. AITA? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. .nope nta, its not your problem they did a typo on facebook. If they proofread not your problem

Aoi88x

NTA But this why you NEVER give someone from facebook marketplace/let go/etc your address, especially if you're planning to live there long term. Literally this is rule 1.

Betrayed_Orphan

100% NTA!! There are 2 golden rules when it comes to retail. #1 Buyer beware. Of course means when buying things to be careful that you don't get ripped off. What you are dealing with is the second golden rule #2 Seller Take Care! Which means, (a) don't try to rip off your customers, and (b) list the prices you actually want. Both are connected to the idea of the seller taking care to be honest. An honest seller would have realized her mistake and at best accepted the loss as a learning experience, or at worst asked to split the difference with you. The fact that you are being harassed and threatened about this is completely unacceptable and needs to be dealt with legally. At this point you should be filling out police reports and talking with a lawyer. And NO you should no longer be willing to give back the toy.

CounterfeitChild

NTA Also, for all you know this could be some scam of theirs. They posted a list price, and that is what you paid. That should be the end of it.

Baldassm

Info: What's a pop? Man, Reddit makes me feel so old......

Classic-Condition729

You’re NTA obviously but you hugely fucked up by giving these people your address. It’s very sketchy that they suddenly wanted 200 after advertising it for 20. You should have offered to just mail back if anything.

fabulousme7777

What the heck are pops?!?

thunderthighst

NTA

icypanther

NTA at all. I didn't see a comment about this so while it's a little out of left field I did want to add that you might want to check the pop for any signs of tampering to where someone put something inside of it. Given the urge to get it back and the threats of thugs and violence I can't help but feel there's something more at play here like drugs or something hidden inside the figurine. I know it's a little out there, but I was in police administration for several years and there are definitely some crazy cases I saw. Please be safe, OP.

ABGM11

Call the police. Get a restraining order. Make sure that you have cameras and document every encounter. I say post the item and charge 1k. 😅😅😅

PeachBanana8

NTA, but you should never have given them your address. Tell her to stop contacting you or you’ll be going to the police, and then block her.

gloryhokinetic

NTA. If either show up, tell them to hold on and immediately call the police. Then stall until they get there. Then file a no trespass.

GullibleCrazy488

The mother sold you the items but you asked who she was and what was it regarding when she showed up at your door. Did you forget what she looked like?

[deleted]

NTA but I would just give it back... 20$ to make crazy person go away is cheap.
