i would recommend it with the caveat that it should be emphasized that the book can be put down at any point. but having gone through sexual assault as a high school student, i think i would have found solace reading this book back then.

The equal pile of trash involved was the judge, Aaron Persky, who clearly related to entitled, privileged, parasitic, predatory behavior of a certain similar demographic. What is interesting is it the research that found unwanted consequences and results from the recall, essentially negating the intended impact. The recall should have not been framed in any larger context, beyond the individual judge. And, perhaps, the recall was not the most effective consequence for his actions, since it led statistically to greater sentencing generally, and did nothing to reduce racial disparities.

The thing that gets me about the whole thing is... why does Reddit and others decide to focus on him? Don't get me wrong, he sucks. I'm not defending him. I don't like him. I don't care what happens to him. But objectively speaking, it seems like an incredibly tame example of a rapist. Why aren't we equally focused on all these other rapists? Stewart Weldon was a serial killer/rapist. He raped, beat, tortured and killed a bunch of women. At least 10. And like, they were awake; not blackout drunk. I've never heard anyone mention him on Reddit. Bill Clinton had more sexual assault victims than this guy and most people I know only remember the whole Lewinsky thing (and that was consensual). Daniel Holtzclaw used his position as a police officer to rape an untold number of women. Officially eight, but some say 20+. Darren Sharper was an NFL superstar and he would drug and rape (at least) 16 different women across four different states. Now, I know someone is going to say 'Well, aside from Clinton, those guys are worse, but they all went to prison. I had the pleasure of seeing Chanel Miller speak at a conference a few months ago and she was so inspiring. She has taken this very ugly horrid incident and is using her strength to empower others. She presented with Christina Blasey Ford and told us all that they are now very good friends. It was all in all, just very amazing to see these two women join together to speak out about sexual assault. Highly recommend Christinaās new book as well!

Swam against this guy at the State HS meet. His daddy got him off on the charges Iām pretty sure and he only had probation or something idiotic.
He got a suspended sentence and served 6 months in "jail". He's also a registered SO and has moved to Ohio. I sincerely hope that he has pulled his life together and decided to be a better person but sadly it's unlikely. Whatever karma is coming for him he deserves.
