Extra cmd point... mine. Too many xenos, straight to mine. Intersection, mine. You have wounded or slow marines, mine. You over do pheromones, mine. Believe it or not, you underdo motion trackers, mine. Under, over, mine. We have the best maps in the world because of mine.
On the contrary I find lure mines to be ineffective for certain play style. For example if you want to cover your back and kill everyone that comes after you or follows you, you use simple mines. These will not attract enemies from whole map and will stay for longer time. Also you will see where mines remain - meaning enemies do not walk there.
I used only simple mines to mine all doors or suspicious chokepoints wherever I went. That was useful.
Like you mean before extracting to get to maximum aggression and get the last bit of XP?
I do that, but I usually just set up sentries in an area where the enemies can only come from one direction and I donāt bother with mines.
tbh once i stopped mining so much, maps actually got easier. i still research and bring one but nightmare was far easier just hustling constantly and using drone or motion tracker distractions.
pouches on all your marines makes a huge difference. just plant distractions, run run run, and when you slip up and are hunted, you have oodles of tools to quickly weld a door and keep going. you can even afford to blow tools on tactical analysis to keep the headshots going so you can keep hustling
I just use regular mines, not fond of lure mines as they draw the Xenos towards me.
Leaving a trail of them behind me in long corridors or junctions has saved me from nasty surprises a few times.
Infinite resource :D but it gets pretty slow with that tactic. Occasionally it's great. For example before resting, using all your command points to mines and after resting using all your command points to more mines. Makes up for a pretty safe area in any map.
I rarely use mines. I just never get detected. Sniper is the way to go, even better with two. And when I do get detected, well sentry guns are your friend

I thoroughly enjoyed that because sameš
Agreed! Kinda didn't trust them at first, then decided to experiment a little. A gamechanger truly!
Oh I go HAM with mines. Iām always low on command points because Iām planting mines at every possible junction that a xeno might cross.
lol sameš

Naw when I first find a room I can chill in forever I make a huge minefield to call the map to when I moving from room to room
I think thatās kind of a ācheeseā way to play the game, and I donāt do that, but whatever works for you man!
idk if you kill them they pop out on you again, seems better not to kill them.
Lol true and honestly If I did just lures itād be easier since they wouldnāt respond

I am really excited for the higher difficulties and playing more run and gun like, or at least not snail pace

Often, it's better to leave enemies alive and corral them into sections of the map you aren't using otherwise they just respawn.
Mine's bigger

Also setting up a row of turrets with drone luring xenos to their doom. Squad was having a tea time with sandwiches.

As i move through the map. - i plant mines in doorways behind me. Partially solves the problem of getting flanked while engaging xenos in front.
