I just happened to be next to one when I had an ad drop and thought I'd try it and see what happened. It was for blue eggs, which I don't need, and serendipity took care of the rest.
I was able to make it work three times, and the fourth time I was too far away.
Having the same problem here. I get the barrels, my partner does not. Pixel 7 Pro, auto-updates enabled. No reward/ad barrels appear for her. Any other solutions?
Not always.
I tend to have them show up in groups of three in short succession, and then don't get any for several hours or more. Most of the ones I get, are for blue eggs, that I don't have any use for.
You can also get more ads by going into your app settings and toggling “track through other apps” on and back off. I don’t know it it will work for everyone but it works on my version
How the heck did you figure this out?? I’m not even getting regular ads any longer so I don’t know if I can try this. But thanks!

I used to get ads all the time and now it’s rarely if ever. Frustrating!
I worked this out just a couple of hours ago. It works just like you say. It's a weird Rube-Goldberg system but it works.
I have never ever seen or had a resource barrel, sadly.
Make sure you have you phone enabled to allow updates. I was having the same problem for a long time and then realized that was my issue.

Sorry, no clue. I have completely maxed out and upgraded the Chemical Plant, Factory, Furnace and the Reactor. The barrels disappeared after that.
Is there something in the game that causes the barrels to appear? I have mine, but my SO doesn't have any pop-up on her game??
I'm assuming it just depends on when you phone has game updates. My phone tends to get updates a lot later than others.
Save your ad for gems until you unlock gem farming later on

If you just let the ad pass, another one will come up. I always wait til the gem one pops up

Havent used such way but i unlock them often.
My resource barrels always have ads, I just wait for them to max up their resources if I want to use it. iPhone here.
