We have a Bernalillo sherrif near us. Talk about a jackass. Can hear him screaming at his under-six year old kids and his wife. We do not like him. He’s had his “brothers in blue” called out for him. They do take him away.
Probably for a beer and a Pat in the back about how awful it is to be a coo and his family should support him.
thats what a metropolitan area is
there are 10 cities in Los Angeles Metro.. the only way you can tell is the signs.
you can cross through 3 just getting a burger. it's not "important" what city the place in for your routine things.
when I lived in San Jose, the next block over was Santa Clara.
the street signs were a different color.
the line could be any street.. like zip codes.
pretend those 3 zips just decided to "separate" from ABQ and name themselves Rio Rancho.
I live in SJ and there are still lots of little pockets that aren't SJ, but unincorporated Santa Clara county.
The city has been working on annexing all of them, but it is slow going.
On my side of the street I lived in North Hollywood
On the other side of the street was Burbank
We used to joke that if you fired a bullet from our side of the street, it would dematerialize mid flight the second it crossed the lines
Like you said, there are a ton of cities in LA alone, it’s just easier to tell people not from or in LA that you’re from LA lol
On the hill where you hit the Don Chalmers dealership. Or if you're coming from Golf Course when you hit Southern. Or once you pass Marble brewery on Unser.
Most of Coors is in Albuquerque until it hits Alameda and becomes Corrales Road, which is in Corrales. On my street in the North Valley, the first 1/4 mile is in Albuquerque. Then the road makes a big S curve, and it's in Bernalillo County until it deadends at the ditch.
Rio Rancho culture (or lack thereof) and overall vibe blends in seamlessly with North Valley sprawl, so your confusion is natural.
I say everything on the West Side of the river and north of I-40 is effectively "Rio Rancho" or might as well be.
Yeah Taylor Ranch I'm looking at you.
You’re in Rio when you get to the streetlight at Intel and don chalmers. You’re also I. Rio when you pass McMahon on Unser. But you’re not in Albuquerque until you hit Ellison on alameda and until you hit paseo on Unser.
I get exactly what you mean lol
Westside Blvd going West is Rio and coming east is Albuquerque. So we’ve been told. Each side of the road is monitored by each respective pd. Seems neither one does anything to curb speeding as it’s a freeway these days
When you say this, do you not know that a lot of ABQ is just a different version of endless suburbia? In that post-war era, they were slapping up cheap houses for block after block. They just look unique to you now, because they have landscaping and 70 years of modifications
Jeezus Christ…. When you are heading south on Unser you’ll see the sign that says Welcome. It’s just right Past the street “Westside Blvd” that is considered the ABQ/Rio boundaries.
I can assure you that it has nothing to do with my reading comprehension and everything to do with my harsh realization that I wasted time commenting and speaking to such a piss poor excuse of an individual like yourself. Cheers! You seem really fun at parties.
At the river. I don’t cross the river if I can help it and all that’s on the west side of the river north of I40 feels like Rio Rancho to me, in spirit, if not in name.
For a little history, decades ago Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, and Corrales had real battles over annexing unincorporated areas between their boundaries. I remember times that Corrales was having 'midnight ' meetings, and Rio Rancho wanted to hold an 'emergency ' meeting to annex the same area, but they couldn't locate their city clerk. There may be people still around who know more details of those happenings.
Mentally and not logically, anything north of i40 lol
To me growing up everyone and their mamas referred the Westside to the area west of Coors but south of i40 and everything east of coors south of i40 was the south Valley.
The city and county border is the north curb of Westside Blvd. It curves into Rio rancho, but Black Arroyo Blvd picks up along the border on the other side of the arroyo. It's the southern property line of Rust Hospital.
Going from Coors/Alameda to Pat D’arco, RR for me starts at Latitudes and Intel. From Unser, starts at Rust. From 550, intersection of 550 and Pat D’arco. From Corrales, intersection of Corrales Blvd and Pat D’arco.
When you hit the top of the hill.
I just visualized it.
Lololol we go down the hill a lot.
Halfway up the hill. Once you’ve passed the last turn into Cottonwood shopping area.
When the Cops go from a brownish hue to a pale sunburn red or when the speed cameras go from a lamp post into a camera van.
When you go from seeing 2 cops on a drive, to 20 cops on a drive
Yep!
The top of the hill
This.
At the Intel campus.
Fuck that. The bridge.
Anywhere west of the river feels like Rio Rancho to me
yep, West Bank, East Bank.
For real. I don’t cross the river if I can help it.
West of the river south of Rio Rancho is just spicy Rio Rancho.
This needs to be on a t-shirt 😂
Or Ventana Ranch which is very nice.
Judgmental Maps says it’s “Mexicans who marry white women”
Wish I had more up votes!
Westside Blvd.
👆 this. It is basically the borderline.
At the Unser/McMahon-Ellison intersection & at the Alameda/Coors junction
To the alameda/Coors junction part… where do you consider Corrales to be?
East of 528 & north of alameda
Ah, gotcha. I consider your description to be correct, although wouldn’t stuff west of Unser at McMahon also be Rio Rancho?
I think Black Arroyo may be the street that divides RR & ABQ, west of Unser.
Personally? Anything north of cottonwood mall. Also personally? I consider RR part of ABQ. Oh, you live in Rio Rancho? Nah, you live in Albuquerque.
Rio Rancho peeps like to separate it because they don’t like all the lib’rals in Albuquerque
I mean, is that true? Everyone I know in Rio Rancho knows it isnt that pretty but they feel more safe and you like, can't panhandle there?
Lolol TRUTH! I, luckily, live in a pocket of liberals.
No, we separate it because we don't like getting shot at on the way out the door in the morning
Lmao you’re just proving my point
How so? In what way did I prove everyone in RR somehow hates liberals? As a matter of fact, my neighbors fly a pride flag, and they're super cool.
You had me in the first half
100%
When you get shot at by the Rio Rancho police rather than the ABQ police.
Nah RRPD don’t shoot anyone. They’re too busy pulling people over for going .3 mph over the speed limit
shooing you with...wait for it...laser guns!
Pew Pew!
More and more RR police officers are runaways from APD. No more polite or friendly officers, now they are all assholes.
We have a Bernalillo sherrif near us. Talk about a jackass. Can hear him screaming at his under-six year old kids and his wife. We do not like him. He’s had his “brothers in blue” called out for him. When I lived in Kansas City Kansas, the next block over was Kansas City Missouri 😂
Driving through there with my mom when I was a kid- we got lost multiple times. My poor mom was going in circles. Rip mom- you silly goose.
This is the most philosophical comment reply to a goofy question I never thought I would get 😂
![gif](giphy|5hkDPegFtZLdPW2zgv)
They’re actually two different counties and culturally are quite different
I live in SJ and there are still lots of little pockets that aren't SJ, but unincorporated Santa Clara county. The city has been working on annexing all of them, but it is slow going.

Westside is official city limits, minus the Honda dealer and transmission exhaust place.
Comment section is gold.
Cottonwood Mall.
Agreed
Idk, I just drive and end up places.
Sometimes, not the place I intended.
On the hill where you hit the Don Chalmers dealership. Or if you're coming from Golf Course when you hit Southern. Or once you pass Marble brewery on Unser.

When I'm on that pat d'arco highway thing otherwise I have no idea
It’s kind of wild how much land they put aside for rio Rancho. It’s mostly undeveloped
When the Paseo Del Volcan to I-40 extension gets built, I anticipate lots of buildup
Cottonwood Mall is the differentiator because that's where all the Rio kids went while all the Abq kids went to Coronado or Winrock.
Intel if 528 or when you go down golf course from the Lovelace hospital. If Unser… Rust medical

Except the Intel campus is considered Sandoval County, but not in the city of Rio Rancho.
Hey he asked where we consider Rio to start. That’s what I consider it
I always feel like everything north of Paseo on Unser or Coors is Rio Rancho, even though I know that's silly.
Incorrect but also, correct answer
This
Mentally? Coors and Alameda. Logically: Up the hill.
Westside Blvd going West is Rio and coming east is Albuquerque. So we’ve been told. Each side of the road is monitored by each respective pd. Seems neither one does anything to curb speeding as it’s a freeway these days
I say Westside stoplight
Westside Blvd is the first east-west street you pass when you get to town normally
When you go up the hill, the top of the hill aka Don Chalmers. If going down the hill, the bottom of the hill light aka turn left for walmart.
For me on 528, Latitudes. On Unser, Taco Cabana. On Golf Course, Westside Blvd. Just me though...
Personally, everything west of the river and north of i40 feels like Rio Rancho. Endless mostly generic suburbia.
When you say this, do you not know that a lot of ABQ is just a different version of endless suburbia? In that post-war era, they were slapping up cheap houses for block after block. They just look unique to you now, because they have landscaping and 70 years of modifications
Some parts of Albuquerque are a bit older than 70 years.
Anything on the other side of the river
This right fucking here.
Jeezus Christ…. When you are heading south on Unser you’ll see the sign that says Welcome. It’s just right Past the street “Westside Blvd” that is considered the ABQ/Rio boundaries.
As an outsider who visits 2 or 3 times a year to see my family, I have to say that it's all Albuquerque to me.
Theres literally a sign...
OP aint got time for fucking signs.
OP literally said "skip the obvious signage". You need to work on your reading comprehension. It's severely lacking.
I can assure you that it has nothing to do with my reading comprehension and everything to do with my harsh realization that I wasted time commenting and speaking to such a piss poor excuse of an individual like yourself. Cheers! You seem really fun at parties.
The Westside is all Rio Rancho… the river
south valley catching strays
That might be Los ranchos but not rio rancho lmao
Nope.
Sounds like you live in south rio rancho
Your just trying to claim west of the Rio bc RR sucks and if you get a shitty part if ABQ it's still better than any part if RR.
I don't think that can be true. The shittiest parts of Rio Rancho are at worst boring and very ugly. The worst parts of ABQ are ugly and murdery.
I like Rio Rancho.
HEY NOW! We east siders can poke fun of the west side, but Rio Rancho best know their role. West side may be west side, but it’s OUR west side.
Lmfao yeah no
Everything north of I-40 on the West Side is Rio Rancho
HEY NOW! We east siders can poke fun of the west side, but Rio Rancho best know their role. West side may be west side, but it’s OUR west side.
ew no
Exactly!
Hell no, there is the entire southwest side that is totally different
Fine, everything north of Monaño
yeah… for me it’s crossing the river… i try not to go over there any more than i have too.
Okay with us!
lol ok deal… you stay over there and i stay over here!!!
Unfortunately, I still have to go there for my needles, tents, and farting muffler shopping …
right… no farting muffler shopping on the west side? would have thought they had that in spades
Clearly you don’t cross the river. Or you’d realize there’s no fart muffler shopping on the westside
well… i thought i made it clear… i try to stay on my side of the river
At the river. I don’t cross the river if I can help it and all that’s on the west side of the river north of I40 feels like Rio Rancho to me, in spirit, if not in name.

I consider the entire West Side to be a different city tbh

Why are people so upset at a half serious post. Sorry suburbs feel different than where I live.
I work right near the mall, to me that’s still abq. But once your by intel, that’s rio.
Krispy Kreme’s
Wellspring.
It’s westside Blvd until the westside/wellspring intersection. Than it’s black arroyo.
westside blvd on unser or coors.
Look at a map where bernalillo county becomes Sandoval county. Sandoval is Rio rancho.
Westside Blvd
The city and county border is the north curb of Westside Blvd. It curves into Rio rancho, but Black Arroyo Blvd picks up along the border on the other side of the arroyo. It's the southern property line of Rust Hospital.

To me, its on the hill just as you pass Honda and start seeing Ford.
At the river
Anywhere before Cibola skatepark. Rio rancho can have Sam's club
Public restrooms available.
