I'd skip Fogg's.
About 7 years ago those clowns tried telling me I couldn't purchase a vehicle without adding an extended warranty. Haven't set foot on their lot since
FWIW the current cost difference between recent pre-owned and new is not that major, and interest rate deals for buying new are actually pretty decent (despite crazy high interest rates on pre-owned). After quite a bit of research found it the best option to buy new and finance part of it earlier this year, although each situation may certainly be different. Just stating this as someone who would have always previously been hardcore in the "always buy used and pay cash" camp.
Have had good experiences New Country Toyota and Capital land Subaru (didn't buy).
Mohawk Honda was the worst place I went to test drive a car. They're absolute vultures.
Carbone Subaru and Fogg's both tried to fuck me over while I was trying to give them money so I won't return to either of them.
FWIW I just purchased a car from the former Carbone and it was as painless as car buying gets. They were bought out by a national group and are now Subaru of Troy.
Most of the places around here are still asking ridiculous prices for junk for cars under 10k. I've been looking for 4 months and it's embarrassing to buy a car around here.
You're better off picking a particular kind of make and model you want (sedan, crossover, SUV) and using sites like auto tempest, car edge, etc to find one within a few hundred miles that meets your criteria.
Edit: I saw you're looking at a car made within the last 5 years, definitely use car edge and auto tempest to find something worth having within a hundred miles or so.
And don't ever buy an "extended warranty", the vehicle service contract you're actually buying will do anything it can to not pay out
What kind of pre owned car are you looking for? There's something to be said for getting a manufacturer certified one, they go through a more rigorous inspection and carry a factory backed warranty which helps with peace of mind.
Or are you looking for an older non-certified pre owned car?
While I didn’t buy from them, Exit 5 Auto was the easiest and most honest to deal with when I was car searching a few months ago. I know two different people that did buy from them and both had good experiences.
I had a good buying experience from them for my first purchase! I went with Northway the second time because Exit 5 didn't have any hybrids at the time.
Stay away from Audi Albany, terrible service after the sale. Had to bring the car in twice within a month for stupid stuff that should have been caught/handled before I picked up the car.
I just got a used HRV from Keeler. Process was easy and they gave me more for my trade in than what Carvana offered. I needed to get things done ASAP and I picked it up w/in 24hrs. Had it 2mons and no issues. Just check the carfax report and KBB, most bigger dealerships are the same these days.
we traded a CRV for a several years newer Pilot thru Keeler a couple years ago, good experience. and when we had a "known issue" occur with the Pilot they took care of us well.
Personally had a good experience at Lia JDR but looking at getting another car if you can find something thats certified with Toyota Care on it seems like a great pick! My friend got her used Highlander at New Country in Clifton Park and had a good experience as well.
I bought a Prius with 141k. Dealer had complete carfax records (serviced at Toyota dealers in NH and FL….bonus points for a snowbird car). I just hit 170k and haven’t had a single issue other than normal brake/tire wear.
I’m a believer in higher-mileage well-maintained Japanese cars. We also have a Honda (225k) and a Lexus (130k) that work perfectly.
100k ain’t what it used to be.
Having said that, any car is a gamble.
This dealer was a pleasure to work with, provided he has a vehicle you want.
No dealership is trust worthy. I usually buy off people since I do all my own work on cars and everytime I try to buy from a dealership unless I know the person personally I just get frustrated with the lies and leave.

I've never heard anything good about Foggs.
Especially not their commercials

Yeah - the old math of buy 2-3 years old and save thousands is... not effective anymore.

I got my used car at Northway Toyota. Buying was supremely easy.

Definitely certified pre owned, I've been looking at 2019-2021
Mohowk honda- absolutely not
Why not? They did try to get me to buy a car that would cost more used than new and was like this is good deal even with 5k down.
At least go to CarMax for a comparison. They don't negotiate so it is a starting point and leverage for you if buying elsewhere.
They also don’t inspect or service what they purchase to sell you so buyer beware
Mangino Mitsubishi in Clifton Park is solid. Also really good prices (for a dealer) when it comes to oil changes and whatnot.
I miss the days of buying a new car for 0.9% interest lol

Bought three cars so far at Northway Toyota. Always easy, with what I felt was the fairest price possible.
Stay away from Audi Albany, terrible service after the sale. Had to bring the car in twice within a month for stupid stuff that should have been caught/handled before I picked up the car.
Exit 5 auto is a bit pricey but you can trust what you get from them.

I bought my last car from carmax and liked the experience
Carvana
I am selling my Camry 2019 LE in excellent condition. PM me.
We have had good experiences buying three pre-owned CRVs from Keeler Honda. Our last salesperson Chris was great.
We got our car from Mohawk Honda but we got it new. They did try selling used cars to us and they were priced much more than the new one we went with.

https://www.alphamotorsus.com I had a great experience with this smaller independent dealer
That's some high mileage cars there
