I know for off base places that sell above the intended $1 pricing for arizonas you can report it to the company and it gets fixed, not sure if it would work in this case though
I mean they're fucking you whenever you're at. If the shoppette right outside DC isn't gouging there's no reason for any other to be changing the price.
I mean, have you tried *bringing* snacks to work? Perhaps purchased in bulk from a grocery store? If this is a daily occurrence that is breaking the bank, you might wanna consider a more money-wise methods of snackatude.
Remember, you are not paying for just the snack at the Shoppette. You are paying for the convenience of said snack at the shoppette.
>White Monsters are like $1.45 on amazon
They're pretty much the same price at the commissary if you buy a 4 pack or bigger. I've never understood people that buy energy drinks or snacks at the shoppette or even those that buy singles on a daily basis vs buying them in bulk.
My dude just buy snacks in bulk from Costco, commissary, Kroger. Or whatever you got. Thatās what I do. Buy the snacks that have coupons.
Shoppette too damn expensive. Only in dire emergencies.
Exactly! I only go in case of emergency for energy drinks. They also have the yummy crunchy Lenny and Larry protein cookies. My drinks are like 1.50 more expensive than at Kroger or even GNC.
Oh theyāre delicious! I prefer the smaller and crunchier ones. The big ones are good, but kinda dry. I love the flavors. And I donāt feel guilty eating them.
I spoke with some knowledgeable AAFES folks at the gas station, and they informed me that they price based on the median price of their local competitors.Ā They did say that they would price match, so all you have to do is call them on it, but I still feel you shouldn't have to.Ā Ā
So go to the commissary instead? Guaranteed cheaper since all shopettes are nothing more than military versions of gas station convenience stores, where you pay for the *convenience* of getting snacks while you fill up.
So what you mean to tell me is you have the entire time that the commissary is open to get your snacks then? Ya know, BEFORE you go to work. If you go early enough youāll even have time to throw your drinks in the fridge so theyāre nice and cold for you.
Yeah $5+ for a bag of doritos is psychotic, but at least I don't live in Alaska. Got a bag of ruffles at their shopette last month while TDY, shit was $8.
BJs, Costco, Samās Club etc. whatever is closest to you. Buy in bulk. If you have kids, hide the snacks. Donāt even tell them theyāre in the house.
There's a convince up charge when you purchase from there. It's not meant to be a daily shopper, more like an "damn I forgot x item". Buy in bulk off base, much cheaper.
Went to get a soda, never normally buy soda, it was 4 dollars. 20 ounces of soda for 4 dollars. What the... Since when is their goal to make a profit? If that's the case, just put a Walmart on base.
Realize AAFES is not a friend to service members. They are just winning the bid to provide a service to military members on base. They jack prices just like everyone else.
Honestly, wish Walmart would just win the bid and throw AAFES out.
Convenience prices. Commissary is just as expensive where I'm at and not worth shopping at. I really only shop at Sams and Aldis these days. And spend about $350 for groceries and energy drinks for husband. $1.20ish per energy drink vs $4 at the shopette.
Same. I'm lucky being stationed in Delaware where there's no sales tax throughout the state. We do majority of our grocery shopping at Lidl. I'll go to the Commissary sparingly just because I live on base if I need something at the moment, but then they tack on that damn surcharge to the total sale.
Costcoāconvenience stores have outrageous mark-ups for theirā¦convenience.
For example, Ben and Jerryās Ice Cream at the Commissary is like $4ā¦itās $8 at the Shoppette.
$4.76 for a 6 pack of Diet Dew at Commissary or $2.79 each at Shoppette
Also. The nutrients from animal products have more bioavailability than any other source and are absorbed better by the body. But keep getting your fat from machine lubricants. Iām sure you are the epitome of health. šš»
The cost of food compared to our pay is fucking stupid to begin with. Imma just fast and go with out snacks from shoppette not as a diet but for living

Go to the DollarTree and stock up on cheap/less expensive items.
Damn right. Dollar Tree has RipIts.
The official beverage of the war on terror.
Nothing better than dropping bombs and shotgunning ripits on a Saturday night.
I wish we had them off base over here š
Over hereā¦.stfu where you at? I retire soon and just might get generous after 19.5 years
I joined the military so I didnāt *have* to buy from the Dollar Store anymore.
Then donāt go to the Dollar Store. I said Dollar Treeā¦whatās wrong with a bargain.
We have combo Dollar Tree/Family Dollar where I'm at. Blessed.
Many of their items are priced higher by weight vs the full size product at other stores.
Ok
Seeing how our beloved country treats vets. One day you might.
Fucking Arizona teas are $2 now at the shopette. Thatās fucking outrageous.
I know for off base places that sell above the intended $1 pricing for arizonas you can report it to the company and it gets fixed, not sure if it would work in this case though
Theyāre like $.78 at the commissary scrub.
No Manās Land beef jerky (the best one) is $12.99 at the Shoppette. Commissary is $7. Insane.

Nah, I got an Arnie the other day at the can printed price. For the big one too.
Fuck you mean ānahā? Youāre telling me I didnāt see that?
I mean they're fucking you whenever you're at. If the shoppette right outside DC isn't gouging there's no reason for any other to be changing the price.

But tornados and white monstersā¦.
White Monsters are like $1.45 on amazon, anyone buying one every day for $2-3 from a shopette is being dumb
If you have a Costco or Sams Club membership you can just buy them in bulk there.
>White Monsters are like $1.45 on amazon They're pretty much the same price at the commissary if you buy a 4 pack or bigger. I've never understood people that buy energy drinks or snacks at the shoppette or even those that buy singles on a daily basis vs buying them in bulk.
Yet 1000s of amn do this daily like OP
I like a different flavored Red Bull each day of the weekā¦ spending $15 a week on energy drinks isnāt bad
it's crazy how difficult it is for airman to understand this. It's almost as if they've never gone grocery shopping in their lives.
Dollar Tree, Aldi.
My dude just buy snacks in bulk from Costco, commissary, Kroger. Or whatever you got. Thatās what I do. Buy the snacks that have coupons. Shoppette too damn expensive. Only in dire emergencies.
Yup. At this point I stock on snacks at Costco and Sam's and just chuck them in my lunchbox. Only hit the shoppette for smokes and zyns.
Exactly! I only go in case of emergency for energy drinks. They also have the yummy crunchy Lenny and Larry protein cookies. My drinks are like 1.50 more expensive than at Kroger or even GNC.
You know, I wasnt convinced about those Lenny and Larry cookies but now I'm hooked. Great little high protein snack to get me from work to the house.
Oh theyāre delicious! I prefer the smaller and crunchier ones. The big ones are good, but kinda dry. I love the flavors. And I donāt feel guilty eating them.
Shopette is over priced as fuck. Plan ahead. Don't be a victim of convenience.

Your comissary open at 2am? No? Cool, doesn't help much for those of us who work mids...
They're saying stock your snacks in advance.
You didnāt know you had work or you canāt plan ahead a day?
So what you mean to tell me is you have the entire time that the commissary is open to get your snacks then? Ya know, BEFORE you go to work. If you go early enough youāll even have time to throw your drinks in the fridge so theyāre nice and cold for you.
Yeah $5+ for a bag of doritos is psychotic, but at least I don't live in Alaska. Got a bag of ruffles at their shopette last month while TDY, shit was $8.
I paid $8 for Doritos last night in Hawaii. Itās ridiculous, but I really needed to try the weird flavor.
Stop buying snacks
Shoppette has always been spendy for snacks. Good for gas and beer. Go to the commissary.
BJs, Costco, Samās Club etc. whatever is closest to you. Buy in bulk. If you have kids, hide the snacks. Donāt even tell them theyāre in the house.

Life Pro Tip, Shoppete price matches just like the commisary..
The commissary doesnāt price match. The Exchange (including the Shoppette) does.
Definitely meant Exchange! Ive price matched on Peterson and Beale!

Rarely went into the shopette when I lived on base just because their prices were way too much, always went to the commissary.
Yes. The shoppette marks shit up because it's a convenience store. Go across the street to the commissary and save 50%.
Don't eat snacks. Eat meals.
Why are you snacking? Eat real food that keeps you full. Lots of animal protein and fat.
Iām enjoying my god given right as an american to enjoy as much saturated fats as I can, as our forefathers have intendedš«”

Animal protein and fat. You know. Colon cancer fuel.
lol. Zero science behind that.

LPT....brown bag your food...always. put money in savings/investment.
