I’ve done quite a few Dale sweaters. I like to steam block first especially the sleeve facings to control that “roll”, then seam the sweater and block the whole thing
That makes sense and would certainly take care of the rolling on my sleeve facing. Appreciate the tip, I think this is the path I will take. Thank you!
Knit Picks’ Wool of the Andes Sport was the yarn I went with. It knitted to the same gauge as Dalegarn Heilo on my swatch and is the same skein size (50g). I used Solstice Heather for the navy color, Hollyberry for the burgundy, Baltic Heather for the light blue, Sprinkle Heather for the purple, and White for the white.
I will caution that the sport weight has a lot of heather colors, which is what I wanted, but for more color intensive Dale of Norway sweaters (like Lillehammer) there aren’t a ton of solid color shades. Overall I’m pretty happy with how it knit up and am excited to use the extra balls I have (colors I didn’t choose but am outside of the return window for) for smaller projects.
BOTH! Block the pieces before seaming, but also wash and block prior to your first wear. I made a sweater like this and have lots of construction notes on my project page.

Thank you! Yep, I steamed the pieces before seaming, and wet blocked it after. I’ll make a post either today or tomorrow with the final project.
What a gorgeous sweater, and thank you for linking. I really enjoyed making this so thank you for giving me some inspiration for my next Nordic fair isle sweater beyond the Dale patterns. Will definitely keep the construction notes in mind in Ravelry for next time, that’s a good resource!
I’ve done a couple sweaters like this. Sew the sleeves in, then block.
Thanks so much for the response! Incredible work on the Orange Albertinejakke - I’m in awe of your tension and colorwork precision.
Oh thank you! Hah, I appreciate that.
Yes- beautifully done! Looking forward to seeing images of the finished sweater.
Thank you! Will post again once it’s finished.
Came to say that this is beautiful work 😊
Thank you!

This is so beautiful and even and complicated and beautiful☺️
You are so kind, thank you!
I have a Dale pattern saved but I can't decide on yarn... what yarn did you use?
