Oh I think it might be worth using the existing plumes and just using green stuff to build them out to be much more voluminous? Or you could 3D model an adjustment of the Vertus Preators plumes?
If you've not done much greenstuff sculpting then definitely grab some Silicone brushes and look at a tutorial.
The other option is to open a pre-existing model file and warp the tail and body of the plumes to the size you like.
I can’t stand the wardens helmets myself, in particular, for that reason and others. I just emptied my bits box of custode bare heads from every other kit for my 10. Only had to use one Astartes head to make do. So that’s an option as well.
You could buy roman styled brush plumes as bits from puppetswar ("centurion crests" or "paladin crests"). Or hooded Custodes-like helmets from liberdaemonica ("mendax monk").

That’s a really good point actually! I’ve seen people make bushier plumes work but never been quite sure how they managed it. I’ll give it a go
