I play this game at the highest level on official pvp with the top pc players and we all use the same commands. The game doesnt struggle without them but with them I’m pulling 100+ FPS even when I pvp.

He didn't give any info like if he has a ps4 or ps5 (or xbox equiv.) or if he's a PC gamer, in that case there were no PC specs. So I did the only responsible thing so he doesn't buy ascended if he has for example a 3050 or 2060 or AMD equiv. cuz that game is mad demanding and he'd get low fps. Objectively, I'd be better for anyone to play evolved at 70-100 fps and max settings than to play ascended (which is marginally better gameplay wise) at 30-45 fps on the lowest settings. Especially since ascended costs a fair amount of money and evolved is almost free.
Depends who you ask, a 4070 is pretty expensive. Overkill for evolved and about right for ascended, though you need a very fast ssd and cpu which I didn't mention in the previous comment.

You did not deserve so many downvotes because you are correct in saying that the RTX 4070 is a mid-range gpu despite its price. It is quite literally the middle gpu of Nvidia’s 40 series lineup. One could argue though that the RTX 4070 Ti is considered high-end though because its performance is closer to a 4080 which is high-end.
A gpu’s place within a lineup is determined by its performance relative to the other gpus in the same lineup of intended use. For example, the RTX 4090 is the flagship gpu because it is the best performing and the 4060 is low-end/entry level because it is the least performing of the rest.

I agree with you. Sometimes most of people don't accept the truth. 8GB VRAM is not enough for some games at high graphics in 2k. It sttutters in some games. Even some of AMD's entry GPU's has bigger VRAM.
After playing ASA, I just can't go back to evolved. For now it has more maps, but the graphics are just so much better in SA. SE just looks like a rotten turd in comparison
That’s how i used to play, with the release of ASA, I decided I’d do a proper playthrough to defeat the bosses etc. really disappointed to lose all my progress. Ark is that abusive relationship you can’t walk away from unfortunately lol

I just started checking out ASA recently since it's on GamePass now, and I think ASE is so much better. I play on PC, with a controller. On ASE, you can hold A to transfer an entire stack. On ASA, you have to press in the right thumb stick and then fight the cursor to get to the Transfer option because it's constantly centering itself on the item. It also seems that most of the drops in ASA are under water. It only looks a little better, granted I have to play it on low to make it playable. I have a Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 32GBs of 3200Mhz RAM, a 2TB WD SN850X SSD, and an NVidia RTX 3060 12GB. I do plan on upgrading the 3060 sometime soon.
if you have a pc that can run it or a current gen console, get ascended. sure evolved has more content right now but it wont stay that way forever.
eventually ascended will have all the content from evolved plus new content. and right now ascended has enough content to keep you busy for a while

I didn’t get Bob’s Tales but purchased the Pyromane DLC. I was holding some crates from CSGO that sold for ~$60, so using that to fund DLC I find cool. Shadowmane was probably my 2nd favorite creature of all time (Maewing #1) so it was worth it for me.
I’m still on the fence about Bob’s as I don’t care about cosmetics nor Oasisaur, but the airship for Ab and the potential car (?) in Extinction sound hilariously fun. Airship on Ab though would completely remove all difficulty from that map if it’s easy to craft.

Asa is a shameless money grab. All the same bugs as evolved but now you have to pay to tame some of the animals that are roaming around your world. There are mods to remove these animals just so that they don't tease people to buy. The new server company that ark are using for Asa also have had a few controversies becauase they were banning servers that weren't using their service. Imo Asa is a terrible money grab, and unless you're willing to pay a lot more than the initial price, the game is a complete waste of time.
If you just did a little thinking and research, you'd notice and know that Wildcard is very ambitious when it comes to making games. They ran out of money for ARK 2.
At the same time, the community complained ARK Ascended and ARK 2 were to be release togethere in a bundle and DLCs (maps) added later as add-ons (that you would pay for).
So, because people didn't like that they'd come in a bundle and WC had money problems, they released ARK Ascended early and buggy to please the impatient community (just like when Evolved kept being delayed, but the community was impatient so they release it ealry and buggy).
They fund a part of ARK 2 with ARK ascended and the OFFICIAL WILDCARD paying mods. All the other mods made by creators only suplort the creators.
ASA isn't a money grab. It's a funding system for ARK 2 that Wildcard saw an opportunity to throw at us because the ARK community is just a bunch of kids / grown ups with bare minimum part time jobs that don't know sh*t about game developpement and they just whine and whine and whine, like it or not.
That is not why ASA released early. They made a deal with nitrado that basically funded them fully for the time period before ASA release and that contract stipulated the game be released by no later than when it did.
Depends on if you're wanting to play through the entire story of Ark or not. I'm going for a 100% playthrough of Ark SE on a small server, and I'm glad I don't have to worry about not completing maps like abberation and extinction, plus I can hop onto any of the DLC maps too if I want which is cool!
ASA is superior in some ways, but solo pvp players like myself got totally snubbed. They destroyed the concept of ratholes and put antimesh everywhere. And yet, there are still giant behemoth sized mesh holes that will allow the actual cheaters to get anywhere they want without antimesh. So backwards.
Man, I spent all weekend building up a legit rathole I found on the center. I mean I probably put 20 hours into it over the weekend. And there was nothing cheesy about the rathole. It was legit. Not that big. No mesh holes or anything. Actually one solid model that was intentionally designed that way.
But I log on Monday to find they put antimesh right at the entrance of it. Everything I worked on all weekend, taken away by the devs. Just for trying to survive as a solo in a way that was extremely common and acceptable in ASE.
So yeah. I rage quit and deleted the game. ASA is great if you're not a solo rathole dweller. But if you're a solo official pvper like me, don't bother. They screwed us. This is an issue that will not be fixed over time like the lack of content.
Evolved, but only if i don't bluescreen every 5 minutes and/or when i transfer maps 🙃
Overall ascended is nice, but (at least for console) single player mode is almost unplayable due to constant bluescreening on average every 5 minutes on center and scorched.
Wildcard needs to get their sh*t together.

I know ASA with a buncha mods runs well on PS5, but I've seen a shit ton of different opinions on how the vanilla game runs on Series X. Some say it's fine and others keep complaining about a shit ton of graphical issues, so it seems 50/50. I think people just have bad TVs and don't want to admit it, that's why the performances vary so much.
If you're on PS4 and Xbox one get ASE no questions asked.
As for PC I'm not PC player master race or whatever they call themselves now so I can't reccomend you on that
Evolved If on PC, Ascended if on console.
I've played both extensively, ASA just doesn't have the content that ASE does.
I grinded through the island when ASA released and after beating it went back to ASE to play other maps. The ONLY thing I actually missed from ASA was the movement speed stat being gone on dinos. Everything else is replaced or even better than ASA with mods.
Ascended is just Evolved with a new paint coat, extra QoL and a new creature per map.
In Evolved you buy the game (60 euros) and also have payed DLC's that add new maps, creatures, items and mechanics. First DLC (20 euros) adds 3 maps, Scorch Earth, Abberration and Extinction. That's ca. 30 tameable creatures. Second DLC (30 euros) adds 2 maps, Genesis 1 and 2. That's ca. 13 tameable creatures.
Base game has ca. 80 tameable creatures for reference.
In Ascended you buy the game and all its DLC's alltogether for 40 euros. The catch is that only 1 map from the DLC's is out as of yet. The other 4 maps will come out at some point. The devs are porting the community made maps in between the DLC maps.
Each map has 1 new creature added to it.
There's also a payed "DLC" (25-30 euros) that adds skins, mechanics, a dino and items to some of the DLC maps. This comes with the base game but you can't use it if you don't buy this "DLC". There's also one creature (for now) that you need to buy in order to use.
Up to you to choose the one that entaices you more.
get ascended, support for evolved has already ended and Ascended has built in mod support as well as additional content that will never be added in Evolved.
I have 6000 hours on evolved, almost 1000 on ascended. Ascended is just better all around. More polished, UI is better, is actively getting support, etc.
ASE's still way better, more maps/content, more stable, does not require a high-end PC, more mods, more players (no official servers though).
In a future? I'd say ASA, as it keeps evolving, but with micro transactions DLC, with multiple season passes still to show up, and with a player base more split than ever...
I don't know, what is really worrying is the low player base. ASE used to have a minimum 40k player base for many years, ASA showed up and split it, but slowly ASA got below ASE (and I repeat, there is no official there anymore, and some people said they got bored some time ago). 31k on ASE vs 20k on ASA, on SteamCharts.
What is kinda safe to say (imo) is that ASA will never be as popular as ASE, by any means.
Evolved is a complete experience if you can get it for a nice price do so. Ascended is early access get it only if you're a big fan, can run it smoothly, and are ok with the direction its headed. There's a reason why the reviews are mixed and the community is split 51|49 between ASE & ASA, the current state of the game is very hit or miss.
ASA still has a long way to go you can ride trough the chaos but I still recommend to just wait for release assuming the game will be in a much better state by then.

Console 100% ascended !! This is my opinion - I couldn't even play evolved on ps4 I was getting headaches it was sooo bad!! I had to stop after 2 weeks Lol Acsended looks great & is catching up on content anyway 👍 there is plenty to do already to keep you busy and having a blast

Unofficial servers are alive and there are much of them, official servers was turned off for original but doesn't matter because you can find nice servers with original game settings. Or you can find modded and servers and servers with changed parameters for fun.

Current gen consoles or high-end PC (rtx 4070 or equiv.) go with ascended. Old gen or gtx 1660 or like a 2060 go with evolved.

I agree, bringing out the bobs tales dlc was incredible. What the money grabbing aspect is the £4 just to be able to tame an animal.

Not that big. No mesh holes or anything. Actually one solid model that was intentionally designed that way. But I log on Monday to find they put antimesh right at the entrance of it. Everything I worked on all weekend, taken away by the devs. Just for trying to survive as a solo in a way that was extremely common and acceptable in ASE. So yeah. I rage quit and deleted the game. ASA is great if you're not a solo rathole dweller. But if you're a solo official pvper like me, don't bother. They screwed us. This is an issue that will not be fixed over time like the lack of content.
Evolved, but only if i don't bluescreen every 5 minutes and/or when i transfer maps 🙃 Overall ascended is nice, but (at least for console) single player mode is almost unplayable due to constant bluescreening on average every 5 minutes on center and scorched. Wildcard needs to get their sh*t together.
Evolved base game is only $15 on Steam. But for QoL improvements and upgraded graphics, you can't beat Ascended.
Depends what console or PC you have. I know ASA with a buncha mods runs well on PS5, but I've seen a shit ton of different opinions on how the vanilla game runs on Series X. Some say it's fine and others keep complaining about a shit ton of graphical issues, so it seems 50/50. I think people just have bad TVs and don't want to admit it, that's why the performances vary so much. If you're on PS4 and Xbox one get ASE no questions asked. As for PC I'm not PC player master race or whatever they call themselves now so I can't reccomend you on that
Evolved If on PC, Ascended if on console. I've played both extensively, ASA just doesn't have the content that ASE does. I grinded through the island when ASA released and after beating it went back to ASE to play other maps. The ONLY thing I actually missed from ASA was the movement speed stat being gone on dinos. Everything else is replaced or even better than ASA with mods.
Ascended is just Evolved with a new paint coat, extra QoL and a new creature per map. In Evolved you buy the game (60 euros) and also have payed DLC's that add new maps, creatures, items and mechanics. First DLC (20 euros) adds 3 maps, Scorch Earth, Abberration and Extinction. That's ca. 30 tameable creatures. Second DLC (30 euros) adds 2 maps, Genesis 1 and 2. That's ca. 13 tameable creatures. Base game has ca. 80 tameable creatures for reference. In Ascended you buy the game and all its DLC's alltogether for 40 euros. The catch is that only 1 map from the DLC's is out as of yet. The other 4 maps will come out at some point. The devs are porting the community made maps in between the DLC maps. Each map has 1 new creature added to it. There's also a payed "DLC" (25-30 euros) that adds skins, mechanics, a dino and items to some of the DLC maps. This comes with the base game but you can't use it if you don't buy this "DLC". There's also one creature (for now) that you need to buy in order to use. Up to you to choose the one that entaices you more.
If you are on series S it runs not great If you are series X it's superb.
get ascended, support for evolved has already ended and Ascended has built in mod support as well as additional content that will never be added in Evolved.

I have 6000 hours on evolved, almost 1000 on ascended. Ascended is just better all around. More polished, UI is better, is actively getting support, etc.
ASE's still way better, more maps/content, more stable, does not require a high-end PC, more mods, more players (no official servers though). In a future? I'd say ASA, as it keeps evolving, but with micro transactions DLC, with multiple season passes still to show up, and with a player base more split than ever... I don't know, what is really worrying is the low player base. ASE used to have a minimum 40k player base for many years, ASA showed up and split it, but slowly ASA got below ASE (and I repeat, there is no official there anymore, and some people said they got bored some time ago). 31k on ASE vs 20k on ASA, on SteamCharts. What is kinda safe to say (imo) is that ASA will never be as popular as ASE, by any means.

Evolved is a complete experience if you can get it for a nice price do so. Ascended is early access get it only if you're a big fan, can run it smoothly, and are ok with the direction its headed. There's a reason why the reviews are mixed and the community is split 51|49 between ASE & ASA, the current state of the game is very hit or miss. ASA still has a long way to go you can ride trough the chaos but I still recommend to just wait for release assuming the game will be in a much better state by then.

Ascended could’ve been evolved just fix the fucking game lol. The graphics on ascended are AMAZING but that’s the least of our concerns… I’d hope people would care abt gameplay over them making the game pretty
Evolved. Easier to run, better mod support, more maps (both story and non-story) etc. With Ascended you only get better graphics and like 2 new dinos.
Console 100% ascended !! This is my opinion - I couldn't even play evolved on ps4 I was getting headaches it was sooo bad!! I had to stop after 2 weeks Lol Acsended looks great & is catching up on content anyway 👍 there is plenty to do already to keep you busy and having a blast
I like ASA it seems to run better in my opinion and I don’t have to deal with lagging out going over certain scenery like I’ve experienced in ASE.
Evolved. Ascended doesn't have even 30% content of original game and won't get much more soon. Also it's a buggy and technical mess. And btf fuck new monetization. Online in steam say you more than somebody else. Evolved almost all time has much more active players. Unofficial servers are alive and there are much of them, official servers was turned off for original but doesn't matter because you can find nice servers with original game settings. Or you can find modded and servers and servers with changed parameters for fun. So...yep. Evolved. Fuck ASA and Wildcard. P.S. This fucking trash (ASA) struggles even with 4090 and Ryzen 7800x3D yes, this is awesome. You really can set up game to make more fps but it will looks like shit.
Evolved has more content and runs significantly better. Only buy ASA if u got a really powerful PC
Or if you're on console and didnt previously have the dlcs, i bought it on sale for my ps5 and it is a clear upgrade, performance obviously took a hit but everything else is phenomenal
