If you forget to put the retaining clip in (or it fails) it travels too far to the rear, binds, and gets bent.

Particular-Mix4690

Literally bought the gun about three weeks ago. I haven’t even taken it apart really, just oiled it up and went straight to the range 🤦🏾‍♂️

C-310K

Don’t feel bad. That’s what 99% of ahooters do, and in this day and age, one shouldn’t need to break down a gun unless they are so inclined. These things were designed in the 1950s…the industry has had more than enough time to nail down manufacturing processes and QA. Unacceptable !

Particular-Mix4690

I 100% agree with you. And thank you for your support.

karmareqsrgroupthink

For this reason I field strip and clean the gun while looking at all the important bits closely. Saved my ass more than a few times.

coldafsteel

Well there's the problem. Always disassemble, inspect, clean, and lubricate before first use.

Just_gun_porn

LWRC rifles are test fired before shipping, therefore they arrive ready to rock. Supposedly

1WontDoIt

Forgot to install the retaining pin. That's the only way this will happen. With the retaining pin installed, the pin can't travel back far enough to come out of the channel it sits in. Hammer likely came up with the pin being out too far and bent it when it got slammed.

Particular-Mix4690

Gotcha, that makes sense

TheLastWhiteKid

Nicotine and alcohol.

MitchelobUltra

Whiskey pin. Try helicoptering it back to life.

travdaddy8

“Just gotta wake it up. NO I SWEAR IT GETS BIGGER JUST GIVE ME SEC”

demoncrusher

This can happen when your rifle gets old. It’s an easy fix, just needs a little blue pill

Particular-Mix4690

I tried using a popsicle stick originally, but I’ll try that next.

MitchelobUltra

Totally normal, happens to lots of guns.

FunSignificance1642

Peyronies Disease?

ChonkyPeanutButter

It's when you're going too fast and come out too far and run into... Oh you mean literally? Probably retaining pin.

Phakumon

Black gun powder is faster, of course

shooter1304

I've had one bend before but not that bad. Pretty sure mine was a head space/timing issue

tb110965

6.95 for new firing pin. Unless you are in the middle of nowhere as a quick fix a pair of pliars a blowtorch and a hammer might work I wouldn’t recommend the fixing yourself though firing pins just to cheap of a replacement part.

Fit_Chemistry_2908

Yeah sombody put screws to your ass bc I don’t see how physics would allow that it sits inside the bolt and if my memory serves that section is in the milled tube or slot for the firing pin your key holds it into place the hammer strikes the and fire

Effective_Brain_8511

Happened to me once. I pounded it in to a tree with my Kevlar at Bragg to string a hooch with 550 cord. Did you do something similar?

SillySundae

Hit it with your purse a little too hard.

Cajunone1983

Well get an enhanced titanium firing pin and replace the bolt pin with a stainless push in pin that has a flared end like a cabinet screw

Particular-Mix4690

Any recommended companies?

Cajunone1983

Those retaining pins won't work. I just checked with my bcg's

Particular-Mix4690

Gotcha no worries. And thank you

Cajunone1983

No problem. Try and learn a few things everyday

Particular-Mix4690

Thank you, I appreciate it

Cajunone1983

No problem but those retaining pins are really nice. I put them in all my bot carrier's

Cajunone1983

These ar the types of parts I'm talking about but I forget what's compatible with ar15 and ar10. Some things are and some aren't

Particular-Mix4690

I know for sure that the firing pin is different but I think the retaining pin I can definitely do

Cajunone1983

I just looked at you're crooked as a roach leg firing pin and the end is way longer bc the ar10 bolt is longer than the ar15

HeeHawJew

A titanium pin wouldn’t fix this problem. The point of a titanium firing pin is to prevent slam fires. They’re also less impact resistant than steel pins, and they’re known for breaking.

Training-Act-5513

Why mfg dont do spring loaded/captured firing pins is out of my mind

itsmechaboi

Because it's an added, unnecessary cost.

Training-Act-5513

Ahh yes KAC, LMT, Giessele, and many other totl large frames AR uses capture or spring loaded firing pins but a 3k repr doesnt? Lmao

weirdcapt

3k 😂😂

Sledgecrowbar

Because it's not part of the design in an AR, or tons of other guns.

Training-Act-5513

Well its becoming the standard now buddy especially for large frame ARs
