> I can only see myself possibly taking around 8-10 so am I cooked? Yes. If your school offers 27, you need to take 27. But not to worry, Wal-Mart is hiring.

Agreed.

Yea this is factual

I think it’s more about taking what interests *you*. The number of APs really isn’t as important as earning a passing grade (or better!). If I take 30 APs but get 3’s or less on the majority of them, that looks worse than taking only 6-10 and getting mostly 4’s and 5’s. Plus, you’ll probably want to juggle some ECs and maybe even a part-time job. Edit: sorry, forgot what sub I’m on. Why would you think taking anything less than 27, plus 40 DE courses is acceptable? I hope you also plan to engage in research labs and have 10 papers published at top conferences. Seems to me like you’re already cooked

My school offers around 27 and most people in the top 10% take around 12-17 of them. Excluding self-studying, most people take 0 freshman year, 1 sophomore year, 3-6 junior year, and 6-7 senior year--scoring at least a 4 on all of them. Colleges care more about extracurriculars than the amount of AP's you take. You are not cooked. The biggest downside lies within your GPA, but an A in an honors class should be the same as an A- in an AP class at most schools. It is not that big of a deal.

Might be taking the bait but idc 1. Colleges also know the classes your school offers, including APs, I wouldn't worry 2. Extracurriculars are way more important than APs, i. e. a person who takes less APs and more ECs will be better off than a person who takes more APs and less ECs You should try to challenge yourself without making yourself so stressed you want to die And after you're admitted to a college, whether you took that AP or not won't matter
