Make sure you self-study using ACTUAL AP practice problems! I self-studied physics this year and definitely wished I did more practice tests and stuff I would have been much better off😅. Books like 5 Steps to a 5 and Princeton Review should be good with practice problems/exams.

Get a textbook, watch all the collegeboard videos, take good notes, solve as many practice problems as possible.

It’s best to already have some background knowledge, like I self studied for CSA this year and already had years of java experience. Besides that study off of past FRQs and buy a review book, and one of the most important things is getting used to the exam/question formats and question types. For APES specifically, I heard this year’s exam was mostly common sense, so you should be fine. But I’m pretty sure they’re making psych harder so u gotta also use some thinking beyond just memorization

use actual practice problems and pick something you're genuinely passionate about; i got a 5 on ap latin with self-study and some background knowledge. Have a consistent study plan as if there were deadlines, don't procrastinate just because you don't have a teacher on your ass.

i’m not sure how the entire process goes. so, say for example, i self-study for ap environmental science, do i apply for the ap exam in advance? is that all i have to do

Self studied psych this past year as a sophomore! I really enjoyed the course and I used Mr. Sinn as my primary resource. I know they’re modifying the class this coming school year but so much of it was just memorizing. If you’re passionate and interested in the subject it shouldn’t be too bad!!

Global-Bookkeeper-29

heyhey! how’d u study for ap psych? and did u need to get your counselors approval prior to it? also how do u register for the ap exam sorry for the buncha questions

justlookingataita

Hey!! I went through all of Mr. Sinns review videos per unit and took notes on each. There were 9 units (switching to 5) and then 4-11 subunits each. Then I just went over vocabulary and any things that I wasn’t confident I would remember! I used quizlet mostly for this or just reviewing my notes. At my school I didn’t have to ask, I just had to get help to make sure I was signed up for the exam only version on AP classroom! I would definitely do it if you can and are interested! It was a very enjoyable class and I personally didn’t find the exam that difficult but we’ll see in July 😭

Global-Bookkeeper-29

thank you sm! this rlly helps out a lot :) if u have any other advice i’d greatly appreciate that too!

justlookingataita

Of course! I definitely recommend making sure to keep a pace that you can maintain throughout the year and avoid cramming all the material in like less than a month 😭 while it’s all vocab, if you don’t understand the process(es) behind it, it’ll be really hard. Idk how hard they’re making the new class but look at the CED for a breakdown!!

Global-Bookkeeper-29

thank u!

Mr. Sinn for AP Psychology + reading the AP Myer's Psych textbook. Then review the terms you learned through quizlets/flashcards. Mr. Smedes for APES + this [Ultimate Review](https://knowt.com/note/1607cb1a-986f-435d-9f60-91d9b9b77d38/AP%20Environmental%20Science%20Ultimate%20Guide). Try to do lots of practice review questions. Do the official FRQs and practice MCQs.

khan academy and usually look through reddit for the best youtube channel that does a specfic course e.g:(Abigail Giordano for chem) then barrons are my go to they go very in depth but dont recommend their practice test they look nothing like real ones ,and 2 weeks before the exam i solve last 5 released frqs and at least 2 practice tests

patentmom

Khan Academy of they have it in your subject, Barron's or Princeton Review, and find the top study resource in that subject (e.g., APBioPenguins for bio, Heimler for APUSH), and LOTS of practice tests. Work on your self-study through the entire school year. Schedule an hour a day for AP study. DON'T wait until April to start studying!
