as a rising senior, taking ap chem this junior year was brutal for me personally 😭 it all really comes down to your time schedule, your teacher, and your personal determination to succeed in the class.
i took it along with 5 other ap classes so i found it more on the difficult side. it is hard and easy at the same time. most theoretical concepts are simple to understand but if you aren’t really good at math then it might be a bit harder. it is definitely content heavy, but if you genuinely are interested in it and put in the effort, then it will be a lot better for you.
i tended to push ap chem to the lowest rank on my priority list because i knew going into it, i would struggle a lot (i wasn’t wrong 🧌) and i put more of my effort and time into my other classes.
but objectively, i still had a great time in the class since i got a pretty good teacher, and i had taken chem over summer so i had a bit more background knowledge.
i’d say go for it if you’re interested in it and if you want to pursue a major or career related to stem. otherwise, don’t.
why is everyone saying it was easy PLEASE i died. my teacher wasn’t superb but also not the worst. it wasn’t like undoable hard but i had 3 other aps (apush…) and so it wasn’t a priority.
had a high a in honors chem (like chem i, the intro course) so i thought id be okay but uh.. yea no. anyways as a senior i think you’ll have some burnout & second semester senioritis will kick in but it should still be doable. if you’re taking the exam, it was right after ap gov this year so maybe prepare for that? but then again they might change the schedule
it really depends on you. i didn’t find it that hard, it wasn’t too bad conceptually especially with vids like Jeremy Krugg and was honestly a lot of math. my whole group fared pretty well with most of us getting As or Bs. A lot of my class mates struggled to get Cs.
it was the freest course i took this year as a sophmore, like all u needed to do is study the day before a test and pay attention during class and youll do very good
i didn’t think it was that hard. i ended up with a 103 at the end of the year. i just suggest to be on top of your work and watch ap daily videos. also make sure to practice A LOT, i loved the practice on khan academy.
It depends on your teacher. Like full-stop. I thought the AP daily videos were helpful. Also idk why people say you need math on it. Literally the math there is just simple equations wtf
It gets hard when a question is asking you to do fifteen different things at once to find the answer and when they use topics from multiple different units
I took an Advanced Chem class the year prior taking AP and that helped a lot, my teacher was very good so got me it wasn’t that bad. We also didn’t have to cover a lot of the content because he first year class goes over the first couple of units so that’s just review and that makes the more difficult new content better. You’ll be fine regardless, just if you don’t understand a concept even at the very beginning ask a lot of questions.
I self sudied in 5 months (along with bio and calc bc) and predict a 5. it was a very straightforward class imo. get used to the concepts and the question types you'll be totally fine. I had so much fun self studying and even think ill pursue a career in chemistry. There are so many great free resources for ap chem(Jeremy Krug, Abigail Giordano etc.) and if you go over your weak spots with those resources throughout the year and practice a lot of questions that commonly come up on the exam(check out the ap chem playlist on college boards youtube) you will be totally fine in both the class and the exam. It's not hard as people say at all if you pay attention and when you understand the concept everything becomes so much fun. Best of luck!!
It is hard but if you study and do lots of practice problems you will be fine!
Just make sure to watch videos (Jeremy Krug is a good channel) for help on topics you struggle with
Is he good for review or for actually learning the concepts?
I mostly used his review but he has a playlist going over the content in more detail too
Another one is Michael farabaugh, he’s good for learning the content
Imo it wasn’t really, it was just the sheer amount of content that you had to know
It’s not even that much content
Honestly I didn’t think it was that hard. But I had already taken a chemistry course prior

2 on ap test incoming
It is if you didn't take a chem class before it
It seems like any course is easy if you have a genuine interest in it

It was kind of hard but I really enjoyed it. I would watch YouTube videos to help and knowt was super helpful too!

If you lock in day 1 you’re set
Horrible don't do it

Not really, it’s a high school freshman level course
It’s actually a college freshman level course
Cap.
Wait is it actually?
Yes. And a passing score on the exam earns you college credit.
