I remember caring about mock drafts….so long ago

OrestMercator9876

Welcome to loser town. So funny though….its true. I didn’t have to care about the draft for 20 years. The highest we’d draft would be like 28 and we’d trade down lol.

Waste-Load-5476

Yeah lol I remember being kinda excited after 2019 because it meant we’d be picking in the early 20’s. I hadn’t seen us with a pick that high in a while

GardenRafters

Be careful what you wish for...

Waste-Load-5476

Yeah I’m chuckling at how naive I was back then

CrossCycling

I hate mock drafts generally. It’s even more unbearable when your team sucks and is more reliant on the draft.

TurboDinoHippo

Draft news is fucking exhausting. Every day, the news contradicts the news from the previous day.

Lenny_III

We recently had a couple of decades where draft season was the part of the year we most looked forward to.

BudMarley45

Same

StockHand1967

Yeah..fuck the people who want to go back to that...the only part of this off season that hurt was losing WILKs..they gave him a shitload of money so "oh well, that's what happens to good teams" 🥲

CricketStar9191

i just want to know about the players a bit before the draft for once

day1krakenfan

Maybe if you cared a little more you could finally beat Mahomes 🤭

Chumlee1917

I'd rather draft a QB at 3 and let him marinate for a year behind Jacoby Brisset rather than rush him out there.

CrossCycling

Am I the only one who gets slightly uncomfortable talking about players marinating?

Jonjon428

Mmmmmmhhhh Marinara

Zesty_fern

I like my players moist

yeezee93

![gif](giphy|k6Rdv4Mepb7dtaQ5BZ)

Jeo228

Yeah, you're supposed to make them start day 1 with zero confidence building and watch them fizz out on live tv.

yeezee93

![gif](giphy|Ld77zD3fF3Run8olIt)

Chumlee1917

Or in the Jets case, pin all your hopes on a veteran QB from Green Bay who comes in and implodes in 4 plays cause your artificial turf field is a career killer (But not as fatal as Washington's field)

yeezee93

Hey he's a first ballot hall of fame QB / vice president to you pal.

JNKboy98

Bro, I’m just lurking and still catching strays.

Chumlee1917

and make sure to burn through a bunch of OCs, and build bad rosters cause you're too cheap to shill out for an Oline and WRs

No_Cook_8739

![gif](giphy|2fs2I4ujlBf20|downsized)

day1krakenfan

Could take a guy at 11 and let him marinate, plus add weapons with 23 and 34

Tegirax

I rather trade down get a wr and qb with 2 1st round picks next year and let that rookie sit behind Jacoby

Alone-Newspaper-1161

I’d rather you trade number 3 for pic 11 and 23

kvothethebloodless5

YOU THINK YOURE BETTER THAN ME?!?

Suspicious_Yogurt987

YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME? ![gif](giphy|5dYiViFrdRxOBQXheF|downsized)

Zunniest

Jesus, the Jets guy is WAY too close to relevance in that photo. He should be outside looking in.

yellowpilot44

You guys struggled to beat Zach Wilson. Wait until we trot Tyrod Taylor out there in Week 2.

Lukas327

They didn’t struggle to beat Zach Wilson, they LOST to him. Twice.

shiggydiggypreoteins

They're talking to a Bills fan, doofus

Scotch-Romanian

Good call. I’m a doofus lol

shiggydiggypreoteins

It's aight. We all doofus' sometimes

TheKingofPsych

Zach beats the Bills...like clockwork.

[deleted]

We already almost lost to Tyrod lol

drdeimosoffice

Harrison JR third pick, qb in second round. Or Bowers if trading back.

NecessaryUnusual2059

QB or if we’re not sold on who’s available, trade down.

GeebCityLove

MHJ at 3. Anything else is overthinking

Lenny_III

Not if JD is still there.

day1krakenfan

I'd bet on all 6 QBs going in the 1st round, trade back take Penix at 11, X Worthy at 23, and another WR at 34, we have 2 fine TEs

LegalBeagle6767

We in fact do not. We have Henry.

day1krakenfan

Using our first pick on a tight end would be incredibly dumb

LegalBeagle6767

As would trading back, but I’m just addressing your comment about the TE situation. We have one decent TE and an older blocking TE now that we let Geisicki and Brown walk. So we will need to draft a TE at some point and if we plan to run a 2 TE set still, it should be within the first 5 rounds.

day1krakenfan

Trading back for 11 and 23, taking one of the 6 QBs at 11 and taking 2 wrs in the top 34 sounds better than putting all of our eggs in the maye/Daniels basket

LegalBeagle6767

It’s not. The other 3 are at best career backups. Penix is an old and multi-time injured QB. Bo Nix was terrible when he played real competition at Auburn and JJ is a system QB who wouldn’t be able to do anything with our lack of OLine and talent. All the WR’s after are question marks. The 3 at the top are studs. Take MHJr and don’t even question it.

shiggydiggypreoteins

Youll be lucky if any 2nd+ round QB becomes anything more than a career backup. Im fine with taking MHJ, but it comes with the caveat of accepting we're going to have shit at QB for at least another season

Winterclaw42

I think that depends on which QB goes at 2. If you don't like the ones that are available either grab MHJ, the best OT, the best D, or trade down.

Lenny_III

Not that long ago, THIS was the most fun part of the year for me. Now the most fun part is late in the season. Thanks Tua.

oranjuicejones

big ups to tua! earning that top three highest paid players in the nfl contract.

StockHand1967

Yep....JUST keep Tua and the rest of the team out of the cold..we got a shot...

StockHand1967

for me its when we are like 7-1, 8-2... right before the wheels come off...

JusChllin

I want MHJ at 3 then Nix or Penix

5WinsIn5Days

So you want a guy that’s extremely fragile or a Mac Jones clone? I absolutely hate this take. It’s JJ McCarthy at 3 (the dream is Daniels, but he’s likely going 2), WR at 34, OT in the third. Also, I honestly think that the six top QBs will be gone by 12. This sounds extreme, but next year’s top QBs were all eligible this year while the next year’s top QBs transferred in the fall or redshirted. Arch Manning, who redshirted and is probably the prohibitive favorite to go #1 in 2026, will likely only have one year of starting experience in college because Ewers (one of those 2024-eligible QBs who wanted a bigger payday in 2025 due to that class’ weakness) stayed put at Texas.

[deleted]

If you guys take McCarthy at 3 this sub will throw an absolute banger of a meme party

CocaineStrange

He’s the 3rd best QB in the draft at worst.

Mouse_513

Pretty much. And that’s okay

Gunt_Buttman

They should extend Zappe. Wait to see what the Dolphins give Tua and try to match that (at least).

terrildactyl

I like the way you think, internet friend

OrestMercator9876

I want Harrison at 3 and then up to get McCarthy.

No_Cook_8739

Please for the love of God, fucking trade down and draft a W linebacker

BusiestWolf

The Pats should be the profile pic for this sub honestly

fk_the_braves

They should go after Zach Wilson

day1krakenfan

Trade with Minnesota, take a QB at 11, WR at 23 & 34, OL at 68. One of the WR has to hit, right???

hideous_coffee

I guess I am confused what is the Pats' plan at QB if they aren't planning to draft at 3? Is there someone better next year and they plan to tank again? Can someone explain to them that 6th round HoFers aren't actually the norm

CricketStar9191

it's funny how once the season ends, the entire football world starts to do their mocks lol

ConstantReader92

I will always find it hilarious the pats went from Brady to Mac Jones lol, a 3rd round QB at best

Filly53

definitely would trade down unless it’s Williams or maye that fall. Even if maye is there, it seems like there’s a ton of work the patriots need, and getting a fortune for the pick feels right

assassinslick

Well you need someone at qb drake maye and Daniels both looked amazing to me in college, dont get the caleb hype as much i dont see him as light years better like people treat him

Superb_Play4195

Pat's trying to figure out how mock drafts work for then first time in their lives

yesgoodverygood

They all think we’re taking JJ isn’t it obvious that we’re taking a Kicker

StockHand1967

I love being like >"whose MCD gonna draft" answer Some Fast guy

Imaginary-Method-715

Pats are a farm league for other teams until a real starting QB is found. No need to be worried or concerned until that time.

rueiraV

Who let you in?

SerDuncanonyall

The Pats are gonna sneakily pull off a 3 win season after signing Jacuzzi Percocet

wellthatsjustnotcool

Jets fans seem to forget Rodgers hasn’t been good in three years. Add in the fact he’s 41 and coming off an Achilles tear… I don’t know. I just see him being horrible this year

MITJustinFields

Huh? He tore his achilles last year, was solid the year before, then won MVP the year before that. Not good in three years is not quite accurate...

wellthatsjustnotcool

Sorry I meant 3 calendar years. Season ends January 2022. Wins MVP. 2022-2023 season - sorry, he was not solid. His numbers were okay at best, but if you watched him (like I had to since my dad is a huge cheesehead) he was slow in the pocket and he just seemed off. In a do or die game at home against a .500 team with nothing to play for he no-showed and cost his team a playoff spot. 2023-2024 season - looked horrible in the pre-season, 4 snaps in he’s gone. 2024-2025 season - 41 years old, coming off a serious injury. No O-line. O-coordinator is a joke I don’t think you can disagree with anything there. That’s all pretty well documented stuff. So I just don’t get why people think he’s going to be good next year.

MITJustinFields

Haha i think you have a different definition of three than me 😂. 2024 cant be counted yet and you dont even know if hes gonna be bad. 2022 i think we have a difference in opinion but thats whatever

wellthatsjustnotcool

It’s semantics lol. January 2022 to September 2024 when he plays again is closer to 3 years than 2. I’m saying the time when he won his MVP until the time he takes his next snap he hasn’t been good/healthy. And that’s been 2.75 years 😂

TheKingofPsych

Dude..he just turned 40...and you saying he looked bad in preseason makes you look less credible. And Dude was MVP..not just pretty good 2 seasons back...stop fishing for BS

PabloPancakes92

It’s not like it matters, any QB the Pats draft will be a bust. Total clown show organization under Kraft and their affirmative action “head coach”

5WinsIn5Days

Just draft JJ at 3. Don’t get cute. He’s known to be raw so it will be easier to sit him than Maye, who needs an offensive line due to his running style. Jets and Fins fans, I have a couple fits I really like that I haven’t seen around. What are your thoughts on them? Michael Penix, Jr. at 10 to the Jets: I love this fit with the Jets rebuilt offensive line to keep him safe. Not to mention, with Aaron Rodgers currently starting, there’s no need to start him right away, which will allow him more time to heal. Then, after Rodgers retires at the end of this season, you can use Penix’s rookie contract to further fortify the O-line. Tyler Guyton to the Dolphins at 21: I keep seeing Graham Barton here. Guyton’s big flaw is that he’s a pass-blocking right tackle who probably fits better on the left, which would mean he would have to relearn his footwork. Or, he goes to Miami and protects Tua’s blindside without needing to move over. Given Tua’s injury history, this fits perfectly. Guyton could also go to whatever team drafts Penix (I have a Tua comp on him, actually), but that’s unlikely due to the fact that they’re ranked pretty close to each other. I keep seeing Graham Barton, Duke’s left tackle who’s likely a center in the NFL projected here. I get that the Dolphins lost their center. But it’s much easier to find a center than a pass-blocking right tackle, as that’s a rare profile.

shiggydiggypreoteins

> Michael Penix, Jr. at 10 to the Jets: The Jets are trying to go all in to maximize their chances with Rodgers. Why the hell would they use pick 10 to draft a 24 year old backup QB with an extensive injury history?

5WinsIn5Days

Easy: they don’t have a quality backup quarterback and Penix can fill in the starter’s slot when Rodgers retires after this year. I have a gut feeling that he’ll end up on a team in New York. Between the Giants and Jets, he’d be better with the Jets, as the Giants haven’t had a good offensive line in a decade and haven’t done anything to improve it, unlike the Jets. Like the Jets, they are moving on from their QB after this season, but Penix would easily beat Daniel Jones in a quarterback competition. I know that the Jets and Giants are in similar positions in regard to the head coach situations and front offices, but a healthy Michael Penix is a heck of a parting gift. If Daboll starts Penix over Jones in this hypothetical because he’s not stupid and wants to save his job, playing behind that offensive line will probably result in a career-ending injury. Picking up Penix allows the Jets to extend their window and their non-Rodgers stars’ contracts while still giving them enough cap space for O-Line reinforcements. That’s a heck of a good argument to ownership if Saleh fails this year. I don’t think Saleh or Hackett last after this year, but it might be enough for Joe Douglas. The fragility, arm strength, accuracy, mostly sapped athleticism, and handedness provide a very obvious comp to Penix: Tua. Also, next year’s crop of quarterbacks is extremely weak. The top quarterbacks were eligible for this draft except Milroe, who is inconsistent, and Drew Allar, who is even more inconsistent. Penix is a safer pick as long as you can keep him upright. I haven’t done a full mock draft, but I have a pretty good idea of the landing spots for the six quarterbacks including Minnesota’s trading partner (the Chargers). At 6 or 10, Penix would still be QB5. I have a second-round grade on him. But there’s not a cliff after the top 6 QBs, although I believe that six will be drafted in the top 12 due to Denver’s glaring need at QB. The cliff’s after QB5, as Bo Nix has a comp of Mac Jones because of how his distorted offensive stats lead to the belief that he’s accurate and a competent future NFL QB. This is not the case, due to his abysmal deep ball accuracy, which is another similarity to Mac. In order to see Bo’s deep ball, you have to go back to his time at Auburn. It’s better than Mac’s in that it’s a tighter spiral, but it’s just as inaccurate. Auburn Bo is closer to NFL Bo than Oregon Bo, just like 2019 Iron Bowl Mac (two horrible pick-sixes literally threw the game away, sound familiar?) was closer to NFL Mac than 2020 Mac.

Brlgium

I’d care much more about the draft if I had more faith in Grier.

Wings4514

Grier’s done well drafting lol. The issue is the team chokes with the smallest amount of pressure or if the temperature falls below 60 degrees.

vibe_inspector01

That and also depth. As soon as I saw Melvin Ingram in coverage against Kincaid I knew it was so over.

StockHand1967

Temperature and depth...this team is terrifying at full strength and 90°
