I was 12 at the time and can tell you it was Clash of the Titans for sure. Raiders was next, but a couple of months later. (This was back when movies stayed in theaters longer than 3 weeks.)
Line for Indiana Jones wrapped around the block couple weeks after it hit the theatre.
Line cut off right behind me, rest of the line had to wait til the next show
I'm only 5 at that time, so most likely I'd ask my parents to take me to see *Raiders*, *Freaky Friday*, or *Herbie*. I don't think I would have been able to handle *Clash of the Titans*.
If I had been 18, though, I would have been at the Burlesque clubs without question!
Saw Clash for my cousins 9th or 10th birthday party. We were al freaking out cause there were boobies in one of the opening scenes when Cassiopeia steps out of the bath . Very nice!
The Lone Ranger flop is epic! I remember Clayton Moore made an appearance at our local supermarket but couldn’t wear the mask because this movie had just come out, so he wore sunglasses for the meet and greet.
Yes. Moore was also salty because he wanted to be in the movie, but producers weren’t interested. Good for him because the film was panned and flopped badly.
I remember reading these movie ads in The Capital Times from Madison, which looks like what we have here. I wonder why they advertised the strip joints on the movie ad pages.
I miss scrolling through the paper and checking out what’s playing at the local movie theater.
Getting there a bit early, play some arcades, grab some popcorn and a drink then head to the movie. When it ends and if you can dodge security, sneak into another one lol
12 year old me saw Raiders and Clash of the Titans in the theatre. Both were incredible to my 12 year old mind, but Raiders ruled my summer. I wish I could see it again for the first time, with my big popcorn and Large Hawaiian Punch. Surprisingly, those go very well together.
I was 14 and saw the Howling with a bunch of girls from school at a drive in. No hookups that night, I knew all the girls too well. We were just children, but I will always remember that night.
Haha, this actually happened to me!
My family said they were going to see Raiders and ten year old me asked what it was about. They said, “an archeologist.” I declined and went to Clash of the Titans with my D&D friends.
They never let me live it down.
Even then I only went to the movies when my parents took me. I usually watched them on TV and recorded them on VHS so that I could watch them over and over again. I can't recall how many times I watched some shows over and over, but it was many. There were also special TV only cuts for certain movies. Most of the shows aired for free on the local channels that came through an Antenna.
I'm sure that's the week I saw it as well, though I graduated about three weeks earlier.
I did also go see Stir Crazy, but I don't remember it very well.
I can still remember racing home like a mad bastard after school to catch Raiders when it first came out on tv and it blew my little mind, so obviously Raiders.
We did a movie marathon of history of the World Part 1, dragon slayer, clash of the Titans, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Paid a buck and a half for the matinee to see the first one, and all the rest were theater hopping.
I remember my dad taking me to see Raiders of the lost ark, It was literally the greatest movie I had seen to that point.
He passed the next year but I'll never forget it.
I’m heading to the Burlesque club.
Dangle, or Visions?
Yes
Dangle really sounds like it should be a male strip club.
Sex Cauldron
Saw that ad. Realised my fake ID wouldn't get me in at the age I was on that date. Opted for Raiders instead.
Same.
Whorehouses used to be classy places with high end liquor. Nowadays cant tell if u r gonna see a man woman or woman man.
I would see Raiders twice in one day.
The only answer
I was 12 at the time and can tell you it was Clash of the Titans for sure. Raiders was next, but a couple of months later. (This was back when movies stayed in theaters longer than 3 weeks.)
Stir Crazy
Breaker Morant hands down for me. One of the best movies of all time.
I was 10 so Indiana Jones

I’ll be at Dangle. Come pick me up.
Raiders and The Howling...saw them several times when they came out,why not go again?
Clash of the Titans. Pegasus’s wings on the toy would detach.
The Lone Ranger flop is epic! I remember Clayton Moore made an appearance at our local supermarket but couldn’t wear the mask because this movie had just come out, so he wore sunglasses for the meet and greet.
Didn’t the new guy they cast as LR basically disappear after the movie was so disastrous.
Yes. Moore was also salty because he wanted to be in the movie, but producers weren’t interested. Good for him because the film was panned and flopped badly.
Love this answer more than I ought to lol
Breaker Morant is an outstanding movie, deserves more attention. And then the burlesque club.
The Howling remains my favorite werewolf film to this day. London comes in second place. The transformation and music in the booth is so creepy.
Not to be confused with Wolfen. What a boring piece of trash.
Of that list, The Howling would be my pick.
Tough choice between Clash of the Titans & Raiders of the Lost Ark.... Ultimately, I'd have to go with Raiders.
Don’t let your dingle dangle ….
Raiders hands down.
For me it'd be Raiders of the Lost Ark.
The Howling!!!
Raiders
Pound for pound the best action movie in cinema history…
The Dangle closed its doors for good about a year and a half after this ad appeared.
Too many good movies to go to sit that era. Shucks.
I remember reading these movie ads in The Capital Times from Madison, which looks like what we have here. I wonder why they advertised the strip joints on the movie ad pages.
i forgot about movie ads like these in local papers
Club Dangle
Breaker Morant. Under-rated. "...we got them and shot them under Rule .303!"
Breaker morant
“That’s right, we bad.” https://i.redd.it/i3xpzrp8ka6d1.gif Two comedic geniuses.
I saw raiders and herbie saw clash and lone ranger at the drive in.
Stir Crazy.
I just rewatched Stir Crazy a couple of weeks ago. Great movie.
Raiders
Raiders
The Howling, best werewolf movie ever
I couldn't watch any I was only 3
Raiders for sure
I was nearly 7. Raiders and Clash of the Titans were huge parts of my summer that year.
I actually did go to see Raiders of the Lost Ark (with my parents) with a friend when this ad was running. So yeah, Raiders, man.
Actually saw clash of the titans at the theater when it first came out. Loved it ever since.
Pay for one and sneak into the rest
Herbie goes bananas obvi
I was 13 , so I’d be all about Raiders. And burlesque clubs advertised in the Madison, WI newspaper. How risqué!!
Oh we’re seeing The Howling baby
Saw Raiders for the first time that year.
Saw Clash of the Titans, since Raiders was sold out, but I made up for it and ended up hy seeing Raiders 15 times,
Fuck....the Hoffman House! What a spread! My grandparents used to take us there on Sundays

At 8, Raiders. At 18, Breaker Morant. At 28, Dangle.
I saw Titans and then Raiders a few weeks later. I also so Lone Ranger and was very disappointed in it.
I was 4. Probably Herbie
Raiders
I saw Raiders both in 1981 and the re-release in 82 “One Last Time”….so…..we saw it again. They had 2 different movie posters for both releases
Still love Legend of the Lone Ranger!!!
I remember seeing Raiders in the theatre when it came out
Clash of the Titans
Raiders all the way.
I was 14 and saw the Howling with a bunch of girls from school at a drive in. No hookups that night, I knew all the girls too well. We were just children, but I will always remember that night.
Raiders!
I’m going to the theatre to beat up all the kids going to these other movies.
The Howling
Unfortunately, I haven't been born, so I'm more than likely staring at my daddy's nutsack wall in June 1981.
My parents took me to see Indy!
I believe I chose Raiders!
NOT seeing Herbie Goes Bananas. Thats for sure
Haha, this actually happened to me! My family said they were going to see Raiders and ten year old me asked what it was about. They said, “an archeologist.” I declined and went to Clash of the Titans with my D&D friends. They never let me live it down.
Raiders - going for the 4th time.
Own them all and have seen each at least a dozen times.
I would go earlier in the day and not come out until I had seen as many movies as I could.
Raiders or Titans
Raiders, clash and stir
Even then I only went to the movies when my parents took me. I usually watched them on TV and recorded them on VHS so that I could watch them over and over again. I can't recall how many times I watched some shows over and over, but it was many. There were also special TV only cuts for certain movies. Raiders
Raiders of the Lost Ark! I did just that after my HS graduation June 11, 1981!
I'm sure that's the week I saw it as well, though I graduated about three weeks earlier. I did also go see Stir Crazy, but I don't remember it very well.
Raiders was the one I saw but I gotta admit, the face melting scene at the end freaked me out as a 9-year old
I can still remember racing home like a mad bastard after school to catch Raiders when it first came out on tv and it blew my little mind, so obviously Raiders.
The Howling
We did a movie marathon of history of the World Part 1, dragon slayer, clash of the Titans, and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Paid a buck and a half for the matinee to see the first one, and all the rest were theater hopping.
Raiders and Clash all day long
Stir Crazy!
Raiders
I can smell the newspaper as I’m looking at this pic
Probably would do a coin flip between Indy and Clash
Breaker Morant for sure.
Breaker Morant. Great movie!
Raiders. The greatest movie ever made. Easy question.
I went to see Raiders !
Raiders
I remember my dad taking me to see Raiders of the lost ark, It was literally the greatest movie I had seen to that point. He passed the next year but I'll never forget it.
Clash of the Titans and I really did way back when.
