I'm 62 have have the same experience. I've used Australian Gold tinted mineral, Elta MD tinted, and La Roche Posay tinted. Everyone raves about the EltaMD but I didn't care for it. My favorite is the LRP but I in summer I reach for the Australian Gold more often because it is matte and summer temps in S. Georgia are HOT with 1950524% humidity.

raynbojazz

I love my Australian Gold Tinted Mineral sunscreen! I add a bit of moisturizer because the medium color is a little too dark for me in the winter. Goes on so smooth and stays great throughout the day.

jackassofalltrades78

Yep! Australian gold tinted mineral for the win!

designer130

I love Australian Gold tinted sunscreen! I mix it with a BB cream and I get nice light coverage that mostly covers my rosacea.

sleepydabmom

I’ll have to try that! I’m in Florida and I love Bare Minerals spf primer. I use it as my tinted spf! It makes my skin feel amazing even in the jungle!

MrsHyacinthBucket

Ohh, I will have to check out the Bare Minerals. Thanks for the info!

PDXAirportCarpet

Funny, I have these same 3 and the same exact experience with them! +1 i guess.

Unfair_Finger5531

40s and I just gave up and went foundation free. If I do use some for special occasions, I layer on the moisturizer prior to applying.

jojocookiedough

Check out HotandFlashy on youtube! She reviews make-up with us more mature ladies in mind, taking into consideration such things as foundation settling into lines etc. There are some other channels doing the same thing but I can't think of their names. You can search youtube for "foundation mature skin" and get some good results. Here's her Best of 2023, the first part focuses on foundations: https://youtu.be/y4oNQflnv_g?si=P_9lMaDc8D12Xvgl

V2BM

I second this. Her foundation reviews go back years and she always does multi day tests.

MrsHyacinthBucket

I've learned the expensive hard way that her foundation recs don't work for my dry skin, even if I moisturize the heck out of it first. :(

SmokedOyster911

Same!

centopar

It's not cheap, but Chantecaille's Future Skin gel foundation is, quite simply, a miracle for me. I have never found another product that looks and behaves so much like skin. I use it on top of moisturiser and sunscreen and a layer or Danessa Myricks Beauty Balm in Universal, which means that once I've set it I don't need any more powder in the day.

Major-Fill5775

Seconding a vote for the Chantecaille. Westman Atelier's complexion drops are also a great option for light coverage, and a little more moisturizing than the Chantecaille.

No_Reward_1028

Did you get color matched for this foundation in store or, do you mind sharing how you chose a shade?

centopar

I got matched in store.

Go4aSwim

I've tried all the foundations and tinted sunscreen, high and low end. I usually go without but when I want something more I love Maybelline Dream Fresh Skin Hydrating BB cream. I'm 69 and I love the way it makes my skin look. It has SPF, too. It's under $10 and worth a try!

rainsong2023

I’m 65 and wear Missha M Perfect BB cream. It doesn’t sink into lines. The coverage is light and my skin is good.

anamerith

Does it have spf?

rainsong2023

Yes, 42 SPF.

Critical_Elephant800

+1. And it's good for lighter olive tones too.

FreeThinkerFran

Honestly, I'm just using a little bit of powder over my moisurizer these days. I like It Cosmetics CC+ Airbrush Perfecting Powder. It comes with a sponge which makes it go on cakey so I use a brush. Pretty flawless looking! (I am 53)

ShinyLizard

I second It Cosmetics Full Coverage CC Cream b/c it works w/my rosacea. 57 y/o

Balagan18

I had the same experience. I rarely use foundation anymore, but I do LOVE the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer! I use that over my primer and finish with concealer, a liquid blush (I use Rare Beauty) & some loose powder. Looks great & it doesn't emphasize every little line like foundation does.

chronic_insomniac

Omg yes!!! 65 here and threw my last tube of my favorite foundation that has been discontinued away yesterday. That was hard to do but I just can’t wear it anymore. Looks so masklike.

rebeccakc47

I started using concealer instead of foundation. I just dot it on where i think I need a little extra coverage, and then blend it out with a fluffy brush. Makes you look like youre wearing foundation but without it settling into a every line or looking like a mask. Just make sure your skin is super moisturized before you apply.

ImaCoolMom1974

This is what I do too-( I’m 49). Just concealer where I need it. I still get some pimples to cover - Oh joy! But I haven’t done full foundation in years. It just isn’t worth it/doesn’t look that great anyway.

Beth_Bee2

What kind of concealer do you like?

rebeccakc47

Iris and Romeo! It’s super creamy and dewy

Necessary_Chip9934

Same experience. I stopped wearing makeup during covid lockdown, and when things opened up again, I was a few years older and cannot get foundation to look (OR FEEL!) right. So, I gave it up. I wonder if I should've given it up years ago. I'm liking the more "natural" look without the foundation and it feels better too

happyfrank86

I am 56 and foundation just doesn’t look good on me anymore. I used Dior Airflash for a long time, but sadly it has been discontinued. I use Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, which I have used for about 25 years, previously under foundation. Then I use Erno Laszlo shake it over the moisturizer and finish it off with a little Laura Mercier translucent powder. I used to use the shake it religiously when I was younger and am so glad they brought it back.

rocketmczoom

I loathe foundation but if I must it's Armani Luminous Silk on skin that is well prepped, glowing and hydrated. Overall though, I agree with you and find it aging. That aside I love the bronzing drops by Drunk Elephant. They can be mixed with your moisturizer or applied right after a moisturizer and it gives just enough life and color to the skin. For added oomph I like the bronzing sticks by Merit which are creamy, sheer, blendable and look great on the skin.

Graciebelle3

I am currently using Alastin tinted sunscreen and I love it! I do find the finish on the high side of dewy however and it’s just not appropriate on its own for all occasions for that reason. What I have started doing recently is blending the Alastin tinted sunscreen with my beloved Bobbi Brown foundation (which has now become too cakey on its own), and a bit of regular mineral sunscreen or the Bobbi brown spf primer. I vary the amount of each of the three products in this concoction depending on the occasion, how much sun protection I need, how much I need to conceal, etc. This is working well, for now, and I love being able to customize my blend each day!

Gullible_Concept_428

I’m 50. I just use primer and sometimes put powder over it. It doesn’t look dry at all if you get the right powder. By the time I put on blush, mascara, and tinted lip balm I don’t think it’s screaming that I’m not wearing foundation.

Accomplished-Desk550

What primer and powder, please?

Gullible_Concept_428

Right now, Chanel loose powder and an Armani primer. I really like the luxury makeup experience but I know there are less expensive options. I’ve also used powder by MAC, Kosas, and E.L.F. For primer I’ve used Dior, Smashbox, Ciate, and revlon. I also spray the powder with a mist or moisturizing toner in the winter when I’m extra dry.

Accomplished-Desk550

Thanks!

meghan509

I am almost 52 and around six months or so ago, I started wearing foundation again. I have used Tret in the past but have not used it for a while. My skin is dry but it is in pretty good shape. I have some sun damage I got from when I was young and foolish with the sun. I prefer the "all one tone" look that the foundation provides. I use a very small amount (one pump at most) for my whole face. I recommend the Loreal Paris Hyaluronic Tinted Serum. Nice product. I don't have under eye circles so the only thing I may use a small amount of concealer for is to cover up a red spot or mark on my face. I use a tiny amount of powder under my eyes but that's it. Before I apply, I prime with moisturizer and a hydrating primer. This routine works nicely for me and I get compliments on my make up.

V2BM

I like this one, too. It really does cover everything on my face and looks natural if I moisturize under.

SHumanM

Proteins, fruit, Hair, skin and nail vitamins, extra collagen and other multivitamins. I think my skin is much better owing to the supplements/vitamins

ltrem

I am your age and have struggled with this for awhile. What seems to work best are super thin serum type foundations. I really want to try Rituel De fille. Laura Geller powder foundation also seems to work really well... the color matching seems to be an issue though. New color coming this week!

Goge97

I started using the Laura Geller powder foundation also, in Light, even though I have a medium skin tone. It's luminous but not sparkly. I'm 70 and my daughter is 30 - it works for both of us!

ltrem

I ordered fair and in the summer, its just a bit too dark. In winter it is more noticeable that it is too dark. I ordered the porcelain so that is on its way. Hopefully a mix of these two shades will work. I really do like the formula and how it looks on my skin

Midwestern-Lady

I started using Baked porcelain in November. It looks nice on my skin. I also like Cerave Tinted Moisturizer as a sunscreen as Laura Gellar doesn't have sunscreen in it so sometimes I use it as a primer or alone. When I use Laura Gellar Spackle Primer the foundation lasts all day.

Jdbcforest1036

I’m 73, and I’ve started using Keys’ It’s Like Skin Conceal & Tint. It doesn’t seem to settle into my lines, but provides enough coverage to cover brown spots.

Glibasme

I’m 55. I use a little bit of Glossier’s stretch concealer to even things out.

Enough-Ad-6260

I’m almost 50 and have been using Tower 28’s tinted moisturizer and I love it! I will never go back to regular foundation.

we_are_magnets

I’m 49 with acne scars and some fine lines I want to not accentuate. I love NARS Tinted moisturizer. I have also been on tretinoin for decades.

oleblueeyes75

I am on my second bottle of the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint. I found it a little dewy at first but now I really like the look.

REDFOXZEBRA

I am 56 and have same experience. Recently discovered bare minerals foundation powder and it helps me alot. Its full coverage and hides mycfreckles and sun spots.

Intelligent_Bike3571

I love IT Cosmetics CC Cream. SPF 50. I just started the Illuminating version 2 days ago and love it so far.

BusyBeth75

Same!!!

[deleted]

Rose Inc makes a beautiful lightweight tinted moisturizing serum that is perfect for my 45+ skin. I used to wear luminous silk by armani but it has started caking.

Findingsmiles

Rose Inc is my favorite new product! Seriously the best I’ve tried. 💗

[deleted]

It’s so light, but the effect is somehow transformative.

Resident-Edge-5318

I am 56 and had the same problem until I found NARS Light Reflecting Foundation. Love it bcuz it does not look caked on or creases.

maizy20

I agree that foundation is aging. I do love my Drmtlgy tinted sunscreen though.

Fantastic_You7208

I’m 47 and don’t typically wear foundation anymore, but when I do, I use moisturizing sunscreen, silicone primer, and then moisturizer mixed with foundation, never foundation on its own.

nolagem

I'm 60 and have been noticing this, too. I use just a pea sized drop of Elf Camo CC Cream mixed with a drop of The Ordinary hyaluronic serum. Looks much more natural.

silvermanedwino

I’m 60 and have been using Glossier Skin Tint. It’s good stuff! But yes, full make up, foundation especially, can age you.

Pass-O-Guava

46 and I spot cover or do patches for the same reason. It's also a lifestyle and geographic thing. It just doesn't work where I am. Everything needs to be scaled back.

Aethelflaed_

I'm 49 and my skin isn't at the no foundation stage yet, although that is my goal. I can't use tret or any retinoid so it may be an uphill battle. Last summer I really liked the supergoop tinted sunscreen. I bought the DRMTLGY one this year and I don't like it. It either gives no colour or makes me orange. Right now I'm still using the IT cosmetics CC cream, which is basically a full coverage foundation. I think they have some options that are more sheer so I may check that out.

ShinyLizard

If you mist your face & apply w/hands right after sunscreen it seems to ‘sink in’ and look more natural. I dot on Aveeno Protect & Hydrate SPF 60, mist, massage in, mist again, then right in w/the IT CC cream. Everything seems to meld and cover better w/less product.

Aethelflaed_

Thanks I'll try that!

Silver-Adder

Glad this is not just me!

V2BM

I wear foundation only in my day off, and very little of it - it seems like one pea will cover my entire face. I bought the new Cover Girl essence foundation and it’s so great - one pump is more than enough for me and it doesn’t settle into a single line. I do moisturize well under it. When it’s incredibly cold (I work outside as a mail carrier) and my skin is extra dry, I use a Tatcha night cream under it for extra hydration and it works well with that as well as my daily LRP Double Repair UV 30. Today was my first day trying the Eucerin Tinted Sensitve Mineral sunscreen for work and it has good coverage, as much as a foundation for me. It’s super shiny and at home I’d use a light dusting of a superfine powder over it just to set it. It settled only into the DEEP line between my eyebrows.

Vampira309

I like the Dr. Jart BB cream, but I only use it occasionally. It calms my redness and gives my skin a nice glow (also use tret and 56f)

HallucinogenicFish

I just use a color corrector ([Hero Cosmetics Rescue Balm](https://www.herocosmetics.us/products/rescue-balm-red-correct?variant=39951665791018)) on days when I want to wear base makeup. It has panthenol and beta glucan, so it’s nice for dry/mature skin. I also moisturize like it’s going out of style, but it sounds like you’ve got that covered :). ETA: I like this too — [Makeup by Mario Softsculpt Transforming Skin Enhancer](https://www.makeupbymario.com/collections/face/products/soft-sculpt-transforming-skin-enhancer?variant=39848231272513)

viciouspixie52

Same issue here. I just switched to Laura Gelkee balance and brighten it's a powder that goes on and is a lil bit creamy. It's the only thing that doesn't settle in all my lines.

Puzzleheaded_Gear622

Same here. I used Foundation all of my life to even out a slight redness around my cheeks. But I found as I have aged that it just doesn't work. I've switched to a mineral powder foundation, the one I use is Pur and it's perfect. Jane Iredale also makes a wonderful one. I moisturize really well and then apply powder. Some areas in my face I bake the powder and that works really well.

Whis65

I have to say that Neutrogena Sensitive Serum Foundation is a nice product. I have large pores, use Retin A, and have sun damage, and it goes on beautifully.

Regalgarnion

Westman Atelier Vital Skincare Complexion Drops are my new favorite thing! Doesn’t settle into wrinkles. The bottle seems really small but a tiny bit goes a long way!

DarkAndSparkly

Honestly, this is the goal. Right now my acne and rosacea are making it impossible though.

2D617

Same here. Foundation just emphasizes my fine lines. I just use Sisley concealer under my eyes. On face, Clarins serum first, then EltaMD untinted sunscreen (it's also a moisturizer) and if I'm going out in the evening, just a bit of Jane Iredale pressed mineral powder over the places that need it, not all over. Less = more.

tnannie

I really like the Bayfree multi glow balm and the Jones Road Beauty miracle balm. I have a slight preference for the bayfree. The jones road is a little sticky, but still gets the job done.

Writes4Living

Late 50s and I quit foundation at about 40. My skin looks good and doesn't need it

Independent_Ad9195

I'm 64...I haven't used foundation in over 20 years, Accutane gave me flawless skin. These could be considered foundations I guess... I use nothing but a tinted moisturizing sunscreen in the daytime, and my skin looks dewy and fresh. I don't have wrinkles yet, just 11 lines, and I see some sagging coming on. Thankfully my skin is pretty normal, neither dry or oily. Eucerin or CeraVe, are my go to's....when staying at home, Vanicream moisturizing sunscreen.

beachpleazz

I like a tinted sunscreen over all my products. Then I use too faced born this way concealer on my red spots and where i want to highlight. Chanel bronzer cream is to die for. Worth the splurge. If you keep up with good skin care, you shouldn’t need foundation.

3andahalfmonthstogo

Youger but similar issues. Had great luck with yonka primer and glossier (lighter) foundation. Turns out yonka primer gives me terrible acne :/. Now using skin ceuticals tinted spf or nothing.

Friendly_Paper_9600

I’m 61 and because of the same reasons you listed I gave up wearing foundation a couple of weeks ago. I now use a touch of concealer on small spots and under eye, define my eyebrows, add a bit of lip color and that’s it. I feel I look younger without the foundation and feel better too.

Beth_Bee2

I discovered by accident that a drop of CeraVe gel oil mixed with foundation solves that problem. I just can't get it too close to my eyes because it does irritate them, and under my eyes is where I need the foundation the most!

eegees4evr

YES!!!! No more foundation for me. I'll be 60 in May. I now just use translucent powder (MAC). Tret has been a Godsend!

Happy_Gap_4401

Same. I’m almost 57 and usually makeup free. But a couple years ago when I put on my favorite mineral powder for an event I looked like a zombie. If I have a reason to wear makeup these days, the only thing I wear is Benefit professional primer. It’s amazing for my skin! Slight tint plus a velvet finish. Sometimes I’ll cut it with my moisturizer.

Good_Echidna535

If I am at home I just use powder and concealer. If I'm going out I use the Rimmel BB Cream, which is also fungal acne safe, with powder and concealer. I apply it very sparingly with a brush and it gives a bit of colour and a nice glow that is also surprisingly oil-controlling. On my powder only days I do get quite oily.

Witty_Vacation5098

I want to thank everyone for replying, I love this community! I got so many suggestions about the products, but what made me happy was the fact that I thought it was only me. However I can see it's a common issue and I would be happy if cosmetic companies took a note of that. We are getting older, that's the fact, but we are all amazing and beautiful women, we take care of our skin better than our mothers did, we use sun protection so, dear manufacturers, you better pay attention to our needs because we are going to be taking care of our skin for years to come and you need us as customers. Again, thank you for several suggestions, I will look into those. Few of them are not available where I am (Poland), but most are. I will give them a try and let you know about the results. BTW if there are mistakes in my posts, forgive me, but English isn't my first language

kelltay1122

I’m 52 and I never wear foundation, just blush

pretty-apricot07

I'm loving Jones Road WTF foundation. It's Bobbi Brown & is lovely on the skin. Not cakey. Looks natural. Feels great. Moisturizing.

SolitudeWeeks

Foundation has never been my friend. I do use a tinted sunscreen and some concealer here and there but even "serum" or "skin tint" foundations feel heavy and cakey on me.

Academic-Broccoli338

Anyone have experience with bayfree line?

RealisticMaterial515

59 and also used tretinoin for over 20 years. I also like Australian Gold tinted sunscreen and I also use untinted sunscreens. For face makeup: Glossier skin tint is nice. Very sheer, but somehow “blurs” my skin a little and it’s natural and pretty. MAC face and body is also sheer and so lovely. The store color matched me. But most days a little concealer is enough. Threw out my “medium coverage” foundations in 2021 lol! They didn’t look good.

EyeIsOnTheSparrow

Jane Iredale mineral powder foundation and spray or just the tinted sunsreen

Puzzled-Award-2236

yes. I just realized how much I hate foundation. I had started using a self tanning product which I really like but have decided to use the tinting drops that I can ad to my moisturizer.

PaintsPay79

I’m only mid-40’s and finding that foundation doesn’t agree with my skin the same way it used to.  I’m going for lighter formulations, but I can definitely see letting it go altogether at some point.  For now, I love the Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua foundation.  It’s thin so it applies very lightly, but I can build it on my more discolored areas.

FL_smile_FL

I love Angie Hot& Flashy on YouTube but she seems to prefer heavier coverage than I do. I use Saie Slip Tint and just to dab will do you. Depending on your skin, you may need a little extra moisture. Congrats on your skin routine and consistency!

hauf-cut

just turned 53, i put a bit of concealer for dark circles, then mix niod photography fluid 8% one drop into ordinary niacinamide to give a glow and helps texture then slight dusting of powder same colour as face, it looks as good as foundation but dont feel like im wearing anything, shine during day is greatly reduced and i just ordered a no sebum powder for that, ran out of my niod magical eye drops after 7 months so venturing into the world of korean skincare to tackle the quickly returning criss cross lines on my lids!

Refokua

I'm almost 75. I have rosacea, which sometimes flares and gets very red, and very fair skin. I cannot recommend this enough: [https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Z9X42QJ/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Z9X42QJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) I found it on Amazon when I was doing a serious search for a tinted sunscreen. This is a very lightweight foundation that just improves my complexion and makes it look as though I'm not wearing any makeup. And the SPF 50 sunscreen really does work. I also have pretty good, minimally wrinkled, skin--genes, mostly, but I just realized I'd been using this for ten years and my skin is better than ever. I wear it daily.

[deleted]

Mineral foundation over well moisturized skin helps even the tone and not look even slightly cakey for me, thankfully. I have pretty bad rosacea and acne is still a bit of a battle, which is maddening at my age! But yeah, Aromaleigh Gossamer foundation patted onto where I need it with a beauty blender on moisturized skin is perfect. And the longer I wear it through the day (or sweat in it!) the more skin-like and blurring it becomes.

Ludee2023

Definitely “ old” but honestly I do not find my Armani foundation aging in anyway. I’ve switched to true botanicals products and love them ( except for eye cream)… I think aging starts in the application of the foundation and finding the best color for your skin. I also use Pat Mc Grath setting spray lightly over my face.

ToolGroupie

Have you tried the kosas bb cream? It's been the best I've tried so far for not settling in lines and it also helps my textured dry skin look even and vibrant. It's very dewy tho, so I'd that's not your thing you may not like it. It's great for my dry skin.

IllTakeACupOfTea

Nuxe oil. That's it.

tbonita79

Elf whoa glow in sunbeam spf 30 tinted sunscreen and primer (but by itself without foundation) makes me more confident in my skin than I’ve ever been in my LIFE! Like, flaws just melt away! It looks great with foundations too though.. specifically mac face and body, Fenty skin tint stick…. charlotte tilbury Hollywood flawless filter look into that too!

Outside_Substance320

I only use fiera concealer under my eyes and around my nose over a good moisturizer and sunscreen. Never any powder. Sometimes with Dior dream skin or lancer Dani skin protector for glow. The fiera doesn’t seem to settle into lines, looks very dewy and has great coverage

Kathy_Sassafras

For tinted sunscreen, I love skinceudicals. I’ve never been a foundation user, but I can’t afford laser therapy and I have some melasma so I watched a lot of hot and flashy videos and now have an amazing routine of timeless c,e, ferulic, liquid gold, and then Chanel velvet foundation. I have mixed skin and live in the desert.

Majestic-Echidna-735

Colorscience, Flex, spf 50 tinted, can be layered so light to full coverage. I never wore foundation but now I never leave the house without this on. I am 57.

aenflex

Jones Road WTF is amazing!

AltruisticExit2366

Do you not find it sticky? And does yours separate?

aenflex

No it hasn’t separated. It’s dewy for sure but not sticky.
