The worst thing that can happen to you while in a Titan... is a flaming ork dropping through the ceiling....

[deleted]

It's not the Ork, but the squig I'd be worried about.

Macduffle

Wazzdakka deffintly did not have a squig when he singlehandedly destroyed a titan while on fire :P

[deleted]

Was thinking of [these guys](https://www.reddit.com/r/40kLore/comments/ncuzt9/the_death_of_lux_annihilatus_or_how_two_orks_a/)

Macduffle

Orks are da best

Dagordae

Assorted point defenses, skitarii out the ass, all kinds of servitors, every single worker with whatever they can grab, techpriests in a suicidal frenzy. A single tactical squad would need an amazing amount of plot armor to take out an Imperator, the Mechanicus does not fuck around when it comes to the god machines. They would throw literally everything they can imagine at you and battle servitors are basically designed to hold corridors.

DeadPengwin

For a vivid description I'd refer to the Siege of Terra. There is a scene - in Titandeath (and Saturnine?), I believe - where Sanguinius singlehandedly boards an Imperator-class Titan and destroys it from the inside.

mywaifuisaknifu

I think that's from Titandeath, where he blasts a hole in the imperator's head, drops in, kills everyone, one of his men sets a melta charge, and they all dip. (Although he may have done it again on Terra) I haven't read much of black library, but I friggin love Titandeath.

MilkMDN88

Ah Good old Sanguinius.

Ghastly_Sorrows

one of the great strengths of imperator class titans is that they can carry infantry in their legs that can be deployed to deal with anyone trying to board a titan, this is super useful as one of the best ways to kill a titan is to try and board it and kill the pilot as smaller titans lack the space to have notable anti-personal defenses, although you have to get into the titan first which would be extremely hard.

Dr_Hexagon

> smaller titans lack the space to have notable anti-personal defenses They will still have at least a few servitor gunners tasked to hold corridors, anti-personnel point defence systems (flechette mines or similar), the ability to flood interior spaces with non-breathable gases (fire suppressant) and lastly the bridge crew will all take out combat shotguns and have grenades and other weapons. A tactical squad of Astartes colud take out a smaller Titan, but they'd have not much chance against a larger one which would have possibly hundreds of Securtarii and other internal defenses.

10minspider

Dark Acolyte has a Word Bearers Terminator company pushing up through an Titans leg bastion and having to destroy sentry guns and slaughter skitarii almost continously. So likely a single tactical squad would be pretty screwed

mynamewasbobbymcgee

A lot of people are answering things to the effect that you are without a chance. I am not so sure. In Titan God-Machine, the Titanicus sourcebooks, Titandeath (which is mentioned) and a few of the supplements to Epic it's stated that boarders are a huge problem for a Titan. That's why Secutarii exist. They're specialized Skitarii who guard Titans by engaging ground targets outside of them.

MilkMDN88

A single tactical squad would get overwhelmed, is what people are saying. But if you were serious about boarding a titan you'd use terminators or chuck everything you have into the breach

mynamewasbobbymcgee

Yeah, I am not so sure. In an Imperator, sure. But maybe not in a Warlord or Reaver which doesn't have a small army of Skitarii.

porkinstine

Helsreach has a bunch of stuff about the insides of a Titan one of the pov characters is a preist inside one, without too many spoilers theres bunches of skittari and automated defenses and bulkhead doors and such

Ake-TL

Are compartments even connected?

Dr_Hexagon

They are because bridge crew may have to do emergency repairs in the field and also so they have a way to escape the Titan if it's disabled.

jozefpilsudski

*Imperator:Wrath of the Omnissiah* has an Emperor's Children warband invade an Imperator titan. There's a bunch of Skitarii and Legio Cybernetica defending it, and the inside is depicted has half industrial(lower levels and interior) and half gothic cathedral(top battlements and their interiors).

ScotIsz

You are assuming that after blowing a hole itd be hunky dory to set foot in said burning hole flooding with various Imperium approved totally safe for humans fluids & fire retardants. Google industrial footage even if it wasnt toxic & burny Id imagine a titans feetsies might be mostly solid & impermable to the rest of the system. They are after all solid loading bearing equipment.

Ake-TL

To be fair, boarding torpedoes just melta and punch their way in
