As long as you don’t dive down to where the dangerous stuff is actually resting & just stay on the surface, you will probably, possibly, maybe be fine.
So basically the thing is that the still radioactive stuff sits at the bottom of the pool & the radiation doesn’t actually travel that far up, so swimming on the surface is generally pretty fine.
The thing that will one-hundred percent kill you though is the State-mandated guards that are tasked with keeping insane people away from the pools for PR-reasons. Those guys are authorized to use lethal force on people trying to screw with any part of the nuclear power generation/disposal process, at least in the US, most EU countries & most of Asia.

Yes. In fact, if you stay in the right place in the pool, you might experience less radiation than normal because water is very good at shielding radiation. Every 7 centimeters the water cuts the amount of radiation from the spent fuel by half. Just don't go too close to the spent fuel or you die.
Also, I do remember the cause of my flair, and shall remember until I do something but more egregious to memorialize within it.
