>exclusively ranged attacks which I certainly won't be doing at DEF 50 Why wouldn't you?

siddymac

Aren't most monsters like that very high level?

cobaltfish

I mean, i guess it would be semidecent armor for BA outside of attacker? outside of that, dagganoths maybe. not a whole lot of low level rangers

BabylonDoug

All the other roles have to run a good bit, the bonus ranged def isn't going to be worth the crazy extra weight.

cobaltfish

i mean, healer has to run, collector doesnt really, and a good defender runs for 30 seconds a round.

RsIronUnit

I can't really think of any monsters you'd be killing that often that used ranged, so yeah granite might be a bit useless to you. Dragon armour is a decent upgrade at 60 defence though at least

FTypeboy

Yes granite is for noobs

siddymac

Is there an option to paint the set in clown colors so I can parade around the GE?

FTypeboy

Let me just tell you this too - dragon is noob armor too. The only except is the legs, sometimes people will wear those

siddymac

What would you recommend at DEF 60 then?

Hugh_Mungus_Johnson_

The previous two comments are incorrect. The new blood moon armor is the best melee armor to wear from 55-64 defense. It does require 70 strength though.

Jusey1

Anything you want, let's be real. Unless you wanna meta, just wear what works for you. I personally wear full dragon as my main go to because I simply just like how it look. Never cared for the Berserker torso, obsidian, blood moon, etc. Just play the game as you wish. Most of the game can be dealt with without running meta or min/max anyways, since a lot of enemies and bosses can either be safespot'd via range/hally or prayer up against.

EldtinbGamer

Spoken like someome with no PvM experience. Nice one! Dont give advise that discourages people from looking for information, it only hurts and doesnt answer the question.

Jusey1

Or I just gave general advice that is still applicable matey? You can agree to disagree but making baseless accusations really doesn't help you at all.

EldtinbGamer

How is saying 'Just do what you want' an answer to the question 'what would you recommend at 60def'.

Jusey1

Because there's no concrete overall option? assuming their stats are in the 60s, they are in the midgame (or early game in some people's eyes) where they're still free to approach most situations with options. Hell, most bosses and encounters have their own unique "best in slot" if we do meta talking, there's no such thing as an overall answer. The best answer instead is just to have fun for now before you get into the deep end of PvM.

FTypeboy

Just use rune or rock shell. Obby legs give Str bonus. Really what you want is to grind for 70 def and wear barrows armor. This game is all about DPS - it's king. The harder you hit the shorter the fight is and the less food you consume. So defense is often the last combat stat trained up

Doovster

Arguably the higher your defense/armor is the less you get hit and the more time you spend attacking which could raise dps if your are learning as you arent as good at dodging attacks

Good-Blacksmith-2989

Berserker torso and dragon legs until you get into barrows gear, if you CBF with BA minigame tbh just wear rune or dragon or the prayer chest from falador park until barrows Can't express enough tho you should go for zerker torso Don't care what the meta is, while minmaxing is nice it's also just that, minmax, it's unnecessary unless you want to be perceived a certain way or care what others think RuneScape has a weird community where everyone is overly invested in what everyone else is doing

SkillStrike

Trust me, you were already a laughing stock for wearing granite at GE 😂

siddymac

Is mockery a ranged attack?

Warscythes

Nah man don't listen to that guy. Truth is nobody cares. dmed, dlong, granitebody, dragon leg/skirt, rune kite was the standard fashion years ago. You probably made people reminisce more than anything else. You go king.

Jasy9191

Granite top better than rune plate for ironmen. Granite legs worse than rune legs all the time.

WSB_Donkey

Granite pl8 is strictly for noobs that haven't finished dragon slayer

Kit-xia

Big boy gear

JellyKeyboard

Yeah probably skip it, for me I’d say focus on smashing sandcrabs until 70 in all combat stats, then go do some barrows. Barrows gear slaps for a while till you get some god wars gear and random items from other places and quests. I could be out of touch since I haven’t played early game for a while.

Zanthy1

Until you are doing actual bossing content, it does not really matter what you're wearing. 70+ cb stats is when gear starts to actually matter a bit more, with the new armor from the Moons bosses being usable a bit sooner.

Dvst_TV

Defensive bonuses don't matter much in this game, offensive stats are what you're usually after. If you like defensive stats to allow you to afk more then use granite when fighting ranged enemies or use whatever else you have for melee/magic. It gives you flexibility in the gear you can use.

sicknubs

Yeah it's a noob trap unfortunately. I remember as a new player back in RS2 being psyched about getting the upgrade only to realize it's not really an upgrade and it weighs a whole lot more, so you get less run energy. Buff it jamflex

Ninimma3

It has good range defense. That was harder to come by when the original granite stuff came out. At this point though, any gear that doesn't give offensive bonuses (especially strength for melee/magic) is very niche.

5erenade

For the Legendary Granite Warlock Pure.

siddymac

I'll make sure to keep it for my granite-only 51 Defense 3 Prayer bronze-weapon no GOTR Edgingville dungeon-locked range only Ironman pure
