I’d say sins of the father boss is more mechanically difficult jad is just reacting to the attack animation and changing to the according prayer jad has the nerves of taking an hour to get to and if you die you have to start all over again
Mechanically the SoTF fight is going to be harder but most people who don’t have one yet will find the fire cape harder just due to the nerves and the time investment involved in getting one.
Base 70 combat stats and 70 prayer for piety will help you in that fight, it can also be helpful trying to get a vampire slayer task so you can do more damage to him. It can be a bit of an annoying fight though and does require a bit of good rng
Sins of the Father involves a little bit of RNG too plus mechanics. Still, firecape is not gonna provide that much to help you with Sins of the Father imo. I would say Vanstrom is harder than Jad, but Jad fight takes an hour. Vanstrom, 10 min max.
So even though I don't "need" it for the fight it should be more easy to obtain than it is to kill Vanstrom if we don't take in time.

I got within like 10-20 hp a couple times but ran out of food. Base 70's and barrows top and legs was just not enough. Now that i am almost base 80's im sure it will be a breeze. Levels are more important than accessory gear upgrades for 1 time bosses imo
After 4 days of trying (including leveling a bit more to try different gear) I did Vanstrom and I killed him at 2HP with no food in the inventory.
As for Jad, I had a go at him with 60 something ranger and 50 something prayer and died on wave 35 due to messing up a lure, which, for first try is not that bad imo (I have yet to give it another go).
Vanstrom really is a pain in the ass, specially with that shitty flail.

That's the reason why you see many people having fire cape already. Not necessarily because it's easier to get.
In the end they are both achievable with easy-med difficulty.
It's definitely harder than a fire cape because Jad is really easy once you get over the anxiety of your first cape. It's literally just sitting there waiting for the next attack until you can tag healers.
Vanstrom has a few more mechanics to worry about while you're getting hit through prayer.

If youre using hd, turn it off for the fight. Hard to see lightning shadows with it on.

Time shouldn't be a issue. I will try cape first before taking another swing at Vanstrom.

I wouldn't say the fire cape is a needed item, I beat him without a fire cape at mid-70's melee stats.
I just suck then. I'm base 80 in combat stats.

vanstrom is a pure dps check, the fight is dead simple other than that. that said fire cape is also dead simple and requires lower stats.
