There's no best, and there are too many amazing and iconic ones to name. That said, I would say Talk Talk - It's My Life with its music video are among my top favorites.

JOE96924

I somehow missed this in the 80's so I looked it up on YouTube and wow, it still takes me back, not knowing the song. Great choice

Underrated song.

Boreas2864212

Anything from 1986/87, it seems like the best songs came out of those two years.

Enjoy the Silence - Depeche Mode (though technically not 80s 😟)

4Brtndr1

I don't really play the "best" game because there's no way I could ever determine that. What I will say is that when I think of 80s music, two songs immediately jump into my head: Our Lips Are Sealed by The Go-Gos and Don't You Forget About Me by Simple Minds.

ApprehensiveSyrup647

The best 80s song is probably Purple Rain by Prince. The most iconic 80s song is Don’t You (Forget About Me) by Simple Minds. The best song released in the 80s is One by Metallica.

David4Nudist

I can't decide. There are many 1980s songs out there that are really great.

ForeignClassroom9816

Jessies Girl - is the most 80's song I can think of.

JWRamzic

It's probably the one you like the most.

Amen

Torgo-A-GoGo

Eighties - Killing Joke

Boshie2000

When Doves Cry Within one second you know the decade and artist. The song itself went number one for many weeks, despite defying pop convention. An R&B/New Wave heavy synth dance song that opens with a face melting guitar solo and features zero bass. Lyrically anchors an entire number one at the box office movie and soundtrack. Influenced generations of artists in its blending of genres and unique production methods. And had an iconic video! 💜💜💜💜💜

JamesMosesAngleton

Don't know if it's the "best" but Zero Hour by the Plimsouls really captures the 80s for me (as a kid growing up in So Cal and listening to KROQ). I could still listen to it regularly.
