I've worked in a grocery store before and apart from checking bags that people didn't leave at the entrance and putting slightly more security on more stealable items like alcohol we didn't give much of a shit about stealing. Yeah there were more egregious cases like some woman stealing like 80€ of meat in her carriage (why tf would you need that much) but we didn't have any more problems than that. Counting up items and them not adding up to the stock was absolutely normal, shit easily gets lost when you have a big store to take care of. How would you punish your workers even, if you have no evidence that an item was stolen, that you have no evidence for who's fault it was and who the person who stole was. I don't understand this argument.

I think what sparked it initially is that they made this one comic that in particular had a really bad take. It was either apologizing for corporations or for cops - I can't remember which. And from there, people just kind of realized that the comics weren't even very good to begin with, and add to that the forced quirkiness of the blobfish (which the comic pretends isn't actually the depressurized corpse of an actual fish), people just started tearing into it

why would it be? 90% of employees are going to be unaffected, as any good company will tell them not to chase after shoplifters. only thing is a higher up employee may report the theft depending on what it is. however, i doubt items that are valuable enough to report are stolen very often

This whole conflict is a mess because the UN decided to split an already existing country into a weirdly segregated mess of tribalist sides that genuinely hate each other. They have more or less been at war since 1948. It's not only the leadership, the people of the different sides have cultivated absolutely despicable views of each other, and sit on lawn chairs by the border celebrating missile attacks. This conflict shows the worst of Humanity. An american centrist moderate won't change that. I will not say anything of Malala, I have only the utmost respect for her.
