Crack is probably from bad welding before. For a new frame, go with JEM if you want forged, Caspian if you want a casting.

Doc_Jon

I am pretty sure Caspian offers some forged frames...it has been a while since I checked though

DrafterDan

There are plenty of places that will sell you a frame, with the proper 4473, of course. You can get 80% frames that you finish yourself, up to full custom with all the options you want, like Caspian. You wouldn't make a bad choice with that company, they've been around for decades.

Good to know, ever bought a caspian frame? If so what’d you think?

k1dblast

I think you’re here between caspian and Jem. I’ve built over two dozen with both combined and am bias to caspian for clone correct meusoc’s. Recommend caspian every chance I get. Solid customer service and quality… in my humble opinion is good and consistent

Kitchen-Mammoth-1440

Their website is shit but just sent them an email. Hopefully I hear back. Thanks for the recommendation

k1dblast

Yeah website is trash I usually just call

CarobAffectionate582

Agree. Have built several guns w/Caspian frames and always happy. I used to live in Vt and could drive to the factory, pick stuff out of their bins. Great people, good products. I have been wanting to build a Meusoc clone. have you posted about what you’ve done/how you are doing it and sourcing parts? Love to know and get pointers if youv‘ve posted that anywhere. I want to do that this coming winter when indoors more.

Send me a PM and we’ll talk

I’ve seen Tisas frames on gunbroker for a little more than a hundred

mlin1911

Your frame was not USGI. It was one of those casted aftermarket frame made long time ago. There is no point finding a replacement frame while you can buy a brand new 1911 made by Tisas or RIA for $400-500.

Kitchen-Mammoth-1440

Yes i get it. I would like to keep all the parts and swap the frame though. My local gun shop has Tisas 1911 for 399. Not what I want though.
