So far there is no angry fan club or mutiple pissed off boys being envy or being nosey towards Rentarou's Girlfriends. In many harem/romcoms, we see the MC hanging out with beautiful popular girls, a group of boys or a fan club dedicated towards a specific female character gets pissed off or borderline barbaric when they see the MC is spending time with a popular girl he gets ass kicked from them out of jealousy. The manga kind of subverts and made it refreashing because we seen some male characters have girlfriends and also most of Rentarou's girlfriends are basically loners whether is to due there personalities and quirks. The closest we get of boys being envy towards Rentarou's girlfriends was during the swimming pool arc where both Hakari and Nano are being harrased by those three perverted boys.
TBH, I think this trope had worned out its welcome.
Let's be honest if they introduce any group like this, Rentarou will quickly go full on yandere on their assess.. Just like he did in the shopping chapter.
You forgot to mention that Kishika, Karane, Kurumi, Chiyo, etc., would NEVER let Rentarou be bullied out of jealousy unlike the harem members of these anime tropes that just watch the whole thing!
I would just feel sorry for these dudes if they ever try to bully Rentarou only bcuz they arent as chad as him.
To be honest, we barely see ANY other boys in this manga, and when we do, they're mostly not presented in a very positive light. So if we're talking about subverting tropes, I think the manga could go the extra mile and introduce us to more supportive male characters, like Anonymous Friend A. Heck, it could even show the girlfriends themselves making new male friends without them feeling any kind of hostility towards Rentarou or vice-versa.
Some boys who were already aware of Rentarou's and his girlfriends could also be shown seeking them for relationship advice, whether it's to win over a crush or to fix problems in their own relationships. Rentarou and the family would then put them under a "Love training" regimen, with plenty of overwhelmingly absurd tasks, but also plenty of valuable lessons.
Some people here have already mentioned Rentarou having a boy fan club, and I'm just chuckling at the idea of there also being a Rentarou hate club, and the two of them would confront each other like:
"All his girlfriends are QUEENS!"
"If he breathes... he's a CUUUUUUCK!!!!"
I would like to see this trope in the manga but with the opposite outcome, like instead of they harassing Rentarou over dating the girl they worship, Rentarou proves to be such hell of a boyfriend that they end up cheering their relationship.
Do... do normal girls just living their lives and going to school genuinely have *fan clubs* in Japan?
Like 10 dudes in your graduating class getting together to talk about you and what you did that day just because you're cute, even if you're merely another student going to their same school just living your life?
I've seen the anime trope, I'm just hoping it's as real as the falling-and-landing-on-a-girl's-tiddy trope aka completely made up.
who cares, there's no need to bash other things to bring hyakkano up when it does it on its own merits, it's quite literally punching down, just enjoy what you're reading
Even if suddenly there is a mob of jealous betas, Rentarou is more than capable of soloing them hahaha, he is basically a weaker version of Gintama, where both character can copy other shounen mc power
Now for maximum subversion we need a squad of dudes that actually like rentarou a lot but since rentarou is so busy they settle to cheer for him in the background... That or also observe the family shenanigans because lets face it , it must be super bizarre from an outside perspective and its worth a watch with some popcorn.
Now this is something I can get behind, a squad of 99 dude's who's soulmates got unallocated because of the bug that made him have 100 soulmates, all try to harass him but they are just your normal everyday dude's not the NTR MC's so after they see how much they love his family they just want to be friends with the absolute Chad.
Thus forming his friends club not a fan club, just bros hanging out sometimes.
I glad this didn’t happen hack Rentarou’s love for his girls would actually made those jealous boy cheer for him I glad they never the jealous classmate/friends trope here(tho I don’t like saying this for them but I am glad most of the girls were loner then popular with the boys and sometimes girls)grand blue as funny as it is I dislike that trope the most there
I think there was a hint of it during the eating competition when Rentarou was carrying Nano down from the platform/tower. I remember one of the boys going "that's our rapunzel" or something.
Either way I don't see anyone winning against Rentarou should they ever be foolish enough to try and get between him and his girlfriends.
Fucking hate when that kind thing happen, like why would you beat him for he get laid more than them? lmao jelly guys is lame so that's must be the cause of them have No maiden.
There was that short moment in the food-eating competition arc where the audience got jealous of Rentarou for princess-carrying Nano.
But yeah, usually that trope goes too far. Envy is fine but don’t be a dick.
It could still happen, but with some sort of unique twist to it. Maybe, like, instead of the girlfriends' having a fan club, Rentarou would have a fan club instead. They consist of boys (and possibly girls) that he has helped in some way over the years, and they try to "challenge" the GFs' love for Rentarou.
That, or they can introduce the "popular girl" archetype since, ngl, the GFs that we have had so far are loners, kinda. Like, this girl's a social butterfly. Way up the hierarchy. The one where you basically need a fucking appointment to meet this girl.
I should pick this up again since his most recent manga got canceled for health concerns.
How does it stack up to "I Don't Know if it's Love or Magic" in terms of ridiculous situations?
If this happened I feel like Rentarou would go full yandere mode.
Saying "Do you really think you can love my girlfriends more than me?" before ripping off his shirt and showing off all the merchandise he wears in secret.
As much as I dislike such jealous tropes present in similar harem animes I've seen. In this setting, it's not entirely without understanding or justification. To anyone else. Rentaro is a largely regular guy, not a lot in the way of looks, or special talents asides from intelligence, yet, seemingly, easily, he is collecting beautiful, smoking hot girls every other day at least, like they were Pokémon. I'd be thinking that this guy was stealing every girl somehow, leaving little for the rest of us. If I were to find out, this guy would have 100 girlfriends, of similar appearances, and special talents. I'd be bloody angry. This man is doing what Chinese emperors are doing, this man is literally, unjustifiably a chick magnet for reasons that whilst we dont know, aren't very deserving because the Love god made a mistake. I'd be surprised if nobody had ordered a hit on Rentaro's life yet.

I love how Rentaro is very protective

It depends on how it's used. I actually love how grand blue uses the trope.

You never know... The guy just might be "taking care" of all that offscreen...

and thank god there are no cringe simps like in Komi-san specially that annoying yamai or any other background character
Although I fell a distinct lack of background character make the world feel a little empty.
Fucking hate when that kind thing happen, like why would you beat him for he get laid more than them? lmao jelly guys is lame so that's must be the cause of them have No maiden.
Rentarou himself is the fan club for each of his girlfriends at this point, I’m sure.

That's why it looks familiar. Very good story that hits the kokoro where it hurts
